I was told to check this out. I have read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, but that's it. I don't know much about Middle Earth history besides that. Still, you think I could roleplay with just that knowledge? I don't want to be an HQ leader or anything, I just want to join one that exists:). Any suggestions on who needs the help? BTW, I was in this roleplay WAY back a few years ago. If it's the same as then I think I know what I'm doing with training and moving units:). If it has changed, please tell.
Hey Diggs! We're still debating what era of Middle-Earth to have RPs for. However, reading LOTR and the Hobbit should be enough for both the 3rd and 4th Age RPs, which are most likely ATM. As for who needs help, well, we'll figure that out once we have the timeframe(s) set.
I do remember you briefly joining Umbar in the LOTR RP on the old MBs. TBH, the only thing I really remember you doing is calling in a mod because CC was taking too long, which caused great confusion and resulted about 8,000 of my troops being declared smashed. But no worries, I won't hold that against you.

You would be able to play with that knowledge, at least in a Third or Fourth Age RP. I did for a long while, and the RP uses more geography and types of troops then anything. And you don't even need to know geography, you can ask other people.
Tul Generas of the Orcs, Darthraxx of the dragon Knights. I RP, and have lots of fun.
I would like to suggest we have some stricter advantages and disadvantages to the different races to make new troops easier to make. For example:
Elves have the best archers in the RP, but their cavalry are very expensive and their infantry are bad at formation fighting.
These has been more or less tailored to the Mirkwood HQ since I know about them a lot, so perhaps it should be on an HQ by HQ basis?
Another important question, are we going to have HQs have bespoke unit amounts of we do a TA or FiA RP? This would make sense to me as there are obviously more Gondorians than fighting Hobbits, for example.
I feel like this is something we already more or less have. Still, it's something to think about as we (re)post units. One question tho...why would Elves be bad at formation fighting?
...Can you rephrase that last bit in a different way? I'm just not getting what you're saying....
Makes sense really. They aren't good at stuff like Sheildwalls and Testedos and that stuff.

I know that we have it, but to have it down on paper for people who are knew it don't have much knowledge of the lore. As I said, that was tailored to Mirkwood elves who are used to fighting in trees where formations aren't as much of an option. Really, I should have said below average, as their not really 'bad' as such.
Oops, I meant to rephrase that but couldn't be bothered Basically, will they have unique troop values, eg 15K Hobbits and 35k Gondorians

Hey Digs!!! You're not the first person to join recently, I would go as far to say that the move actually boosted the RP Honestly, that knowledge should be more than enough, although if we do a First Age RP as well you may want to obtain a copy of the Silmarillion SO far we're still rebooting after the move but we should have everything started up within a week I would guess. To be honest, I'm not sure if much has changed, although we have much clearer guidelines that we should probably publish (*CoughCough*) You'll get the hang of it in a week or two.
Thanks for the support! I haven't read it, but I might eventually:). Yeah, I bet I can get the hang of it quickly as I used to roleplay here back in the day;).

Good, I think that would be the best timeframe anways:). Yes, I remember that, I was a bad roleplayer. I probably still am, but hopefully there are other users in the same boat as me so we can learn together:).

Yes, I remember that. If I wanted to go somewhere, I just asked for possible routes to the location. I also remember certain units taking certain points to make and stuff too.

Perhaps, although I think we could do that in the A&U topic. Ah, fair point.
Oh, so different MWE #s for each HQ? We could definitely include that in a 1st or 3rd Age RP, yeah.

Agreed! If you haven't already, feel free to vote on it over at the "LOTR RP - Timeframe Poll" Topic.
Nah, you're good. I was just a bit annoyed at the time, since my HQ was under attack, and couldn't really afford to lose 1/3 of its troops. There will be plenty of other user here who are learning, you'll do fine.

At the start of each troop list maybe? Then it could easily be HQ specific

I voted, I believe for the 3rd. That's good to hear, it doesn't tend to go well when all the roleplayers besides one are veterans:P.

I know this isn't cannon, but have you sceen the BoFA? The elves did shield walls their. They have had hundred of years of practice, and should know howto make a shield wall. It may not be their main stargity but they should be able to do it. The elves of the last allince made a shield wall to.
