How do I create a new topic?
Go to the forum you want to open your topic in. Click on the New Message button on the top left of the page.
Enter the title of your topic in the Subject field. This is the information that users will see in the topic view. It should be short and easy to understand so that users can easily choose which topic they want to enter.
In the Body field enter your text describing what the topic will be about and what you want other users to discuss there. Remember that all topics must be appropriate and on topic to LEGO® and the theme of the forum you are posting in.
In the Body field you can also choose the Jammers option. This will create a new box within your post. In the Jammers box you can write a message to a specific person or group. Although this part of your post will be visible to everyone, Jammers are meant to be private and other users should not read them unless the message is directed to them.

You will not see the customization options given when using Reply.

Community Basics
What is my role in the community?
You are essential to the community, even if all you ever do is read the things that other users post. Communities like this one have a place for all kinds of contributions: posting questions and sharing answers, writing great stories, voting in polls, liking great content, roleplaying as a great heroes or villain, or even just reading!
We encourage you to visit often and participate. Ask the questions you always wanted answered. Chances are someone else has that question too and that another user has the answer. Be creative by writing stories or reading stories created by other users. Be adventurous by roleplaying as your favorite characters in LEGO themes from CITY to Star Wars.
Most important of all is having fun and making friends. Every user plays a part in making the LEGO® Message Boards Eternal community great, you included! What is my responsibility in the community?
We want the community to be appropriate, friendly, informative, and fun for everyone.
Be sure to read and follow the Brick Boards Community Guidelines so that you know what to expect and what is expected of you when you're here. What is the difference between a roleplay forum and a regular forum?
Roleplay is when you pretend to be a character from a story, game or movie. It is kind of like an actor playing a part. In the Brick Boards community, users love to roleplay as their favorite characters from many different LEGO® themes. By joining a roleplay forum you can become part of the story too!
To start, choose your favorite theme that has a forum called "roleplay." In that forum look for a topic called "Newbie Help Topic" or "Adopt a Newbie", or create a new topic, asking for help. In these topics experienced roleplay users will be happy to help you join the fun!
Remember that in the roleplay forums you are acting as a character in a story. If you just want to chat with your friends in the community you should check out the regular forums that do not have roleplay in their titles. In these forums you can discuss virtually anything you want related to that theme. What are jammers?
Jammers are secret messages that you can send inside posts on the message boards. In the Brick Boards community you cannot send private messages to other users. All communication between fans on the message boards is done through public posts. Jammers are most often used to discuss strategy in roleplay topics. For instance, by using a jammer you can discuss a plan with another member of your alliance without a rival HQ member knowing.
To use jammers choose the Jammers option when posting a message. When your message is posted to the message boards other users will be able to see your entire post including the jammer. However, all users are expected to ignore jammers unless they are addressed to you. So, if a jammers message is directed to you go ahead and read it. If a jammer is addressed to another user you should ignore it.How do I report an issue to the Moderation Team?
If you wish to report an issue to the Moderation Team, use the REPORT POST button found on each post in the community. You will be sent to a screen where you can describe to the Moderators what the issue is. The Moderators will review your report and take action if needed.
You can report disagreements between users, rule breaking, bullying and anything else you might find offensive or inappropriate. All reports are completely anonymous and confidential. The reported user(s) will never know about your complaint.
Ranks and Badges
What are ranks and how do they work?
In the Brick Boards community there is a rank structure that allows users to earn different titles as they participate in the community over time. To rise up the rank structure, users must achieve the specific requirements of each individual rank. The exact requirements are a closely guarded secret! Users advance through the ranks by being active in the community. This is done by reading, posting comments, participating in roleplay, liking great content, and more. Why do some established users have profile badges that newer users don't?
Some users have profile badges that represent the rank they held on the old message boards.
Users who migrated from the old message board platform to the current one also have a "Member of Olde" badge. In order to get this badge, go into the Personal Tab in Settings, and scroll to the bottom of the page to "Previously on the LMBs?". If you were on it, press the radio box next to yes, and the Members of Olde badge will appear on your profile page!
These special badges were given to users in recognition of all the time, hard work, and passion they put into the old message boards. For that reason these badges cannot be earned by or given to new members.
Likes
What are Likes?
If you see something that is really clever, funny, helpful, etc you can give it Likes. Giving Likes is a positive way to tell other users that you think their posts are good quality. Liking provides encouragement to the person who wrote a post and it also helps guide all the other users in the Brick Boards community toward the post or topic based on the total likes the submission has received. If you like to receive Likes, please make sure you're giving them out, too!
How do I get Likes?
To earn Likes you'll need to create quality posts that other users agree with, identify with or otherwise think are cool. You can do this by always avoiding spam. Try to only submit posts that you think are of good quality and will contribute positively to the discussion you are participating in.How do I give Likes?
