So 1/10 girls on the Friends gallery will say minifigures? Because I am pretty sure 0 people on the Star Wars gallery will say minidolls. Hence proving my theory that minifigures are more popular:P.
They probably are more popular, but as I said, there are still thousands of girls who like minidolls more than minifigures, which is probably why LEGO keeps the mindolls only in Friends and Princess sets, geared toward girls. I guess all I'm saying is, don't complain about something that doesn't really affect you under general circumstances.
I never complained about it, I just said minifigures are generally considered better:P.
~l)~/\/~/-\~ The tie between real life and legos is imagination .

I wasn't talking about you in particular, it just seemed like the discussions in this topic were leaning increasingly toward that.

As far as I saw they only complained about their legs not being able to sit or something:S:P.
And that's not really complaining... Not when the OP asked which we like best and why. It was more of a statement. I like minifigures because they can be posed/articulated better and can sit/stick to any old LEGO piece. They're also original and originals are always biasly better.
I've read both sides of the argument friendly debate and my opinion is that mini-figures are superior because they are what Lego is. The heart of Lego is customization, I know those mini-dolls are customizable to a certain extent, but unlike the mini-figures they are not entirely customizable. I've made some of my mini-figures look much more legit taking arms off of the torsos and switching them around.
But I do think there is some bias involved here because males have a natural antipathy to the mini-dolls while females have a natural sympathy towards them.

You can change their parts. You can't change minidoll parts.
On minifigs, you can change their heads, hairpieces, shirts, and pants, which are the same things you can change on minidolls. Minifigures are different in that you can move their hands and legs, which you can't do with dolls, but other than that they're the same.

What? No! You're being brainwashed, Digs! *grabs and shakes you* Minidolls can sit down, and do everything else regular minifigures can do *glares at Torahvision * except their legs don't move separately and their hands don't move. Other than that they're identical.
Because minidoll legs are longer than the average minifigure, they should at least have some way to bend their knees.
Minifigures are better because they allow for a larger range of customization (hands and arms), double-sided expressions, and are more compatible with the LEGO System. (The legs have holes for studs on the back)

For me it isn't bias, I'd like minidolls better if they had independent legs and could rotate their hands.
I like minifigures more, but minidolls are actually pretty good too.
I don't have much sets that have the minidolls in them, but I was fascinated by the hairpieces. I ended up separately buying a black version of Emily Jones' hairpiece for one of my custom minifigures.
Yeah, the hairpieces are one of the pros of minidolls. That's why I don't completely hate them.

You can change minidolls' arms out too, technically, you just have to pry their arms off. Okay that just sounded weird I don't really see the point of changing their hands though even if you could.
I don't like how the minidolls legs can't be posed. How is anyone supposed to do stop-motion? They're like mini barbie dolls, it's scary.
I do however, like the better male to female ratios of ordinary figures that comes with girls playing/admitting to playing with LEGO. Pretty sure girls didn't just start playing with LEGO because minidolls were manufactured.
I think the ratio is at 3:1 now. The recent starter volcano set had 2:2. That would have been awesome as a kid. Females were rarer than Mr Gold. It made city building terribly unrealistic with 5 females and over 200 males. The new Friend's hairpieces are cool too. Thank you, weird looking minidolls for introducing new and interesting pieces to regular sets. The opposite of thank you for presenting us with your horrible hues.
I know, I have like 95% male minifigures, with most of my females being from licensed themed sets.
I'd say I have 60% male 30% female.
It's because of the fun in the park set and minifigure pack duplicates.

Yes.
I just like to think that minidolls are just another option for those who actually do prefer them, just like there are LEGO builders who prefer LEGO Technic over LEGO system pieces, etc.
