Oh, I just assumed minidolls were one piece. Guess I have never touched one, and I hope I never have to:P.
Lol, I think minidolls are the only things I've ever used. I'd say we're at a truce with the discussion, so let's agree that both minifigures and minidolls are equal. [a]
I would say minifigures are more popular than minidolls, mostly because more guys are into LEGO than girls:P.

Minifigures no question. I hate minidolls, wish they never existed. I don't get why they feel that girls prefer minidolls. I bet most girls would rather just play with female minifigures:S:P.
I don't like how the minidolls legs can't be posed. How is anyone supposed to do stop-motion? They're like mini barbie dolls, it's scary.
I do however, like the better male to female ratios of ordinary figures that comes with girls playing/admitting to playing with LEGO. Pretty sure girls didn't just start playing with LEGO because minidolls were manufactured.
I think the ratio is at 3:1 now. The recent starter volcano set had 2:2. That would have been awesome as a kid. Females were rarer than Mr Gold. It made city building terribly unrealistic with 5 females and over 200 males. The new Friend's hairpieces are cool too. Thank you, weird looking minidolls for introducing new and interesting pieces to regular sets. The opposite of thank you for presenting us with your horrible hues.
One big problem with minidolls is that they can't sit down. No one has seemed to address this so I will
You can't bend their legs:O?! That's horrible!
What? No! You're being brainwashed, Digs! *grabs and shakes you* Minidolls can sit down, and do everything else regular minifigures can do *glares at Torahvision * except their legs don't move separately and their hands don't move. Other than that they're identical.

That might be true, but there are still thousands of girls who like LEGO and prefer minidolls over minifigures. It's like if you go to the Star Wars gallery and ask their opinion, you're almost guaranteed to get mostly minifigures as a response. But if you go to the Friends gallery and ask (because someone made a poll about that before ) 9 out of 10 girls will say minidolls.
So yeah, it just depends on what you like, I guess.

Just try to sit a minidoll onto a vehicle. IT CAN'T. Sure it can move at the hips but it can't actually stay on the seat when sitting. They'll fall right off if the item it is sitting on moves the slightest bit. This is what I mean by "can't sit." Not that the hips don't move.

I think it's funny how LEGO made a theme park sub-theme for friends, when they can't even grip what they sit on. They'd just get thrown out.

That's why LEGO developed the 1x2 panel piece with the panel in the middle. It works by fitting the middle panel piece in between the legs of a minifigure or the feet of a minidoll, and there should be enough friction to not have them move around freely. It's not the best looking solution, but it solves the problem.

Still they can't just sit on any given Lego piece. It has to be "specially" made for them. So, if you don't have it... you can't play with your minidoll.

That is true. Although, LEGO has been including that piece in most minidoll sets ever since the LEGO Friends theme started. So far those pieces appear in sets that have vehicles (or large dragons, from Elves) in them, and it makes sense for those kinds of sets to have those pieces since vehicles will be treated as moving objects with some kind of rough play. So there's a high chance that the people who have a minidoll set will already have that piece, if their set had a vehicle in them.
The only problem would be if they're trying to sit in a chair, but those aren't meant to be treated roughly like vehicles, so they'll only fall off the chair if you knock into it, which in my opinion, is only an inconvenience and not a design fault considering minidolls are trying to look like humans.

I know, I have like 95% male minifigures, with most of my females being from licensed themed sets.

So 1/10 girls on the Friends gallery will say minifigures? Because I am pretty sure 0 people on the Star Wars gallery will say minidolls. Hence proving my theory that minifigures are more popular:P.

They probably are more popular, but as I said, there are still thousands of girls who like minidolls more than minifigures, which is probably why LEGO keeps the mindolls only in Friends and Princess sets, geared toward girls. I guess all I'm saying is, don't complain about something that doesn't really affect you under general circumstances.
On minifigs, you can change their heads, hairpieces, shirts, and pants, which are the same things you can change on minidolls. Minifigures are different in that you can move their hands and legs, which you can't do with dolls, but other than that they're the same.
Oh, I just assumed minidolls were one piece. Guess I have never touched one, and I hope I never have to:P.
So did I. I actually own three of the same one i.e I bought the same LEGO Friends set three times for a part I wanted a bunch of times. I stole the hair, discarded the rest. I don't like them looking realistic. If they look like humans, does that make me a psychopath when I pull their hair off?
