Hey guys, this story is like 8 years old (I started it in November 2012), and I decided to repost it here if anyone is interested. I'll try to post it every day, won't edit it too much unless there's a grammatical error or something. :{P
Many years ago, long before time had a name, the first Spinjitzu master crafted four mystic weapons out of pure gold: the scythe of quakes, the sword of fire, the nunchaku of lightning, and the shurikens of ice. With these weapons, he created the world of Ninjago, out of the ruins of a world previously destroyed, the reason being a tale for another day.
Soon, dark forces came seeking for these weapons. Facing thousands of enemies at every corner, the first Spinjitzu master hid the weapons, and gave the map of their location to a humble blacksmith.
Many years later, the First Spinjitzu master found himself put against an old enemy. He could not defeat the enemy, so instead he trapped it, but this cost him his life. To this day the enemy waits in his prison, knowing that fate had something in store for him.

2011 movie part I:
Kai stared out the window of his blacksmith shop. The soldiers were building a wall, bordering the east from the west. Ever since the war began, the shop had been making less money, as most of their customers had come from the west. Now he and his sister, Nya, were on the verge of selling it. Speaking of Nya, she was outside, watching the construction on the porch. Kai angrily kicked the wall.
"This is all Bradford's fault" he muttered. William Bradford, the Dictator of Ninjago--- or... West Ninjago. Kai's thoughts were interrupted when an old man walked into the shop. He looked around for a few minutes, and soon Kai grew impatient.
"You want something?" he asked sarcastically, "Today?"
The old man snorted." I was looking for something useful here, but I must've been mistaken. I'll just leave now," he said, stomping out. Kai kicked himself in the shin. His temper prevented him from getting some extra money--- again. Suddenly, he heard shouting outside. He stepped out.
"What's going on?" he asked.
"I don't know," Nya non-answered.
"What do you mean, we can't pass?" Samukai, leader of the Skullkin, demanded.
"We mean, you can't pass. Ninjago is undergoing a civil war, we can't let anybody cross the border. A sly smile grew across Samukai's face.
"Is that so?" he asked.
The soldiers screamed as their wall was blasted open. The Skullkin vehicles sped forward, surrounding the blacksmith shop.

2011 movie part II:
Samukai stepped out of the vehicle, along with his two generals, Kruncha and Nukal.
"First skeleton who finds me that map gets a sack of gold," he said, grinning. Kai and Nya gazed in horror at the oncoming hoard of Skullkin. Kai drew a sword.
"Nya, get inside," he ordered. He attacked.
The skeletons were not nearly as skilled as Kai had anticipated, so he chopped down a half dozen with ease. But there were too many, and each time one fell, it simply put itself back together. It wasn't long before Kai came face to face with Samukai himself.
"Well, you're handy with a sword, now aren't you?" he cackled. The Skullkin leader unsheathed four daggers, one for each hand. He kicked the startled Kai in the stomach, sending him falling back.
"Another thorn in my side removed," Samukai gloated. Suddenly, a golden tornado-like object jumped from the bushes, frying twenty skeletons before it knocked Samukai into his own Skull truck. Just then, many things happened.
The tornado disappeared, and in its place stood the old man, carrying a bo staff. Second, Nukal and Kruncha came out with the map. Third, Kai noticed Nya was captured by a group of Skullkin. Kai realized that she must have ignored him and kept fighting. Finally, the skeletons started hopping back into their vehicles.
"Gold for me!" said Nukal.
"We both discovered the map, you bozo," Kruncha said angrily.
Samukai just stared.
"Wu..." he muttered in shock. Then he climbed back into his truck, and the skeletons sped away.
"Nya!" Kai cried, but the Skullkin had already crossed the border. Then he turned on the man. "Why didn't you save her?"
The man ignored the question. "There is one way to get your sister back, but you must follow me. I have a lot of explaining to do, and I'm starting to think this isn't the best place to do so" he said, staring at the armada of police cars speeding down the road.

2011 movie part III:
"So that's what this is all about. But what do I have to do with anything? And why did the skeletons capture my sister?" Kai asked. The old man, Wu Garmadon, had explained to him the story of the golden weapons, and the first spinjitzu master, after they had traveled by foot to the top of the mountain and the monastery.
Wu shook his head sadly. "Young ones, so many questions. I cannot blame them though, as I was just like that long ago. Anyhow, regarding the second question, I do not know. I fear the Skullkin may have annointed a new leader. Regarding the first, I have been looking for a ninja to protect Ninjago from the oncoming darkness, and of course the recent war" said Wu.
Kai's eyes widened. "Me... a ninja?" he asked, "Wow!"
Wu shook his head. "Learning the way of the ninja is much harder than you know, Kai. However, it is the only way to get your sister back, overthrow Bradford, and make sure HE stays locked up..."
"Who is..."
"You will learn in due time. Now, it is time we rest. Your training will begin tomorrow."
***
"Yes, Kai. Very good. You are doing much better than I originally expected," Sensei Wu commented. "However, your stealth could use some major improvements." The time was 6:00 am. Kai had waken up an hour earlier to train, and was very tired, and hungry; the young man was further hindered by coffee deprivation. Day after day he trained, strengthening his mind and body. After about two weeks, Sensei thought he was ready for his first test.
"It is time," he told his three other pupils, Jay, Cole and Zane, to whom Kai had been kept secret until just then, "Tonight, attack him in his sleep. You will go unarmed, and he will be unarmed. If he holds his own well enough, he can join us."
"Yes Sensei" the three said in unison, bowing their heads and slipping off into the darkness.

2011 movie part IV:
Kai, normally a heavy sleeper, woke up to the shattering of glass.
"Nice going, genius," one voice whispered, "now we've lost our element of surprise."
"Can it, Jay. Do you really think he can beat the three of us?" another shot.
"I do!" said Kai, jumping off his bed to see three ninjas, dressed in traditional black outfits.
They must be servants of the Skullkin! Kai thought. The largest one charged towards him, knocking him straight into the wall, breaking part of it. The three invaders crept towards him. The large one came again, jumping up and kicking towards Kai, who used his weight against him by grabbing his foot and pivoting him into the wall, which broke down, sending the ninja tumbling into the training deck. The other two charged, punching him in the ribs repeatedly. They landed a couple blows until Kai angrily grabbed the smaller one by the neck and threw him at the gate to the monastery, breaking it and sending him tumbling down the mountain. The other ninja just stared in horror at this display of force as his comrade fell. By this time, the big one had gotten up and charged at Kai, who jumped out of the way. Instead, the attacker slammed right into the remaining Ninja, and they crashed into the large door in the front of the building, sending it swinging open. Kai ran towards them, but tripped and fell. He got up in time to see the ninja who had fallen off the mountain. He had somehow survived. In a panic, Kai kicked him in the jaw, causing the ninja to crumple to the ground. Kai pinned him to the floor and yanked off his mask, revealing a person with red-brown hair, a large bruise on his jaw from the fight.
"You're... You're not a Skullkin..." Kai sputtered.
"No, I am not," the ninja snapped, "Now get off of me. And I thought Cole's kick hurt... Jeez..."
"That is enough!" Sensei Wu called, walking out of the door to the monastery, the other two Ninjas behind him.

2011 movie part V:
"Sensei... What is this?" asked Kai.
"A test," Wu answered, "One that you have passed, and exceeded expectations."
"Okay, I understand that, but who are these guys?" said Kai. The two other ninjas pulled off their masks.
Their names were Jay, Cole and Zane.
"It is great to meet you, honorable warrior," said Zane, bowing his head.
Kai just stared. "Uh, thanks..."
"Sorry about that, Zane takes things too seriously sometimes..." Cole whispered in Kai's ear. Kai nodded in understanding.
"With all due respect, Sensei," Jay put in, "Do we really need a fourth member? He's good, but-"
"Silence," Sensei commanded, "Kai's sister has been kidnapped by the Skullkin, and because of that, combined with the civil war, we need all the help we can get." Jay made no attempt to argue further.
"Now," Sensei continued, "It appears that the Skullkin are after the golden weapons, and are setting up camp near the caves of despair. We need to stop them, so that whoever is leading them, and I have my suspicions, will fail."
***
The next morning, they hiked down the mountain, and traveled through the forest surrounding it, making sure to avoid outposts of soldiers and skeletons, until they reached the caves. Wu, eager to see how the new group worked together, appointed Cole to lead the operation while he stood guard. "Alright guys," Cole ordered, "we need a plan. Zane, you go-" He turned and realized Kai had already left and was sneaking through the camp outside the caves.
"Well this is going to end well." said Jay sarcastically. Cole shot him a look.
Kai was hiding behind one of the catapults. He knew a patrol of skeletons had seen him, and were running towards the watchtower.
"Well that just won't do!" Kai mumbled. He unsheathed his katana and threw it at the patrol. The blade skewered all three of them, attracting no attention at all. He quietly ran over to them and pulled his katana out. Then he stuffed the bones in a nearby tent, hoping he had time before they started to reassemble.

2011 movie part VI:
Kai was just about to enter the caves when a hand grabbed his shoulder and pulled him behind a boulder. Kai instinctively pulled out his sword, then froze when he saw Cole, Jay and Zane were his "attackers."
"What are you doing?" Cole shot.
"We're supposed to be doing this together," Jay added, "No offense, but you have the stealth of a Blue whale." He paused. "On second thought, you should be offended by that." Kai shot him a look, but said nothing. "Let us go now," Zane recommended, "I sense we are in great danger of being caught."
Kai, Jay and Cole looked to see Samukai and his bodyguards conversing only a few yards away from the boulder.
"Hide!" Cole whispered. The four sprang into the cave, unnoticed by anybody.
Kai, Jay, Zane and Cole silently sneaked through the caves, making sure they weren't being followed.
"I sense a presence," whispered Zane, "We are not safe here." It was about that time when the scythe came into view. Kai silently crept forward, and took it from it's pedestal.
"Hey," said Cole, angrily stomping forward, "I wanted to carry that."
"Why?" asked Kai, confused.
"I'm the leader!"
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"I get to carry the cool stuff. Plus, I am-"
"Uh, guys," Jay said nervously, "I think we HAVE been followed."
There, locking the entrance to the cave, stood the entire Skullkin army. About a dozen had bows pointed at them, and the rest carried long spears.
"Hands where I can see 'em!" Samukai ordered, grinning. The ninja shot up their hands. Zane quietly grabbed two shurikens from his pockets while he did this.
"Alright, let's take these chumps to Lord Garmadon," ordered Samukai, "And bring me that scythe!"
"You want that scythe? I think shurikens are a nice substitute for a scythe," Cole shouted, "Now, Zane!" Zane threw his weapons. They both struck two archers down. The rest fired their arrows, but the ninja were too quick. Kai had already chopped them down, making sure the scythe of quakes was safe.

2011 Movie Part VII:
The ninja fought hard, but they were still overwhelmed, until Jay noticed something.
"Hey... This is just like Sensei's training course!" he pointed out, "Over the planks..." he jumped over ten skeletons, "dodge the swords..." he twisted away from a long spear, "Here comes the dummy!"
As Jay struck down a Skullkin warrior with his nunchaku, he burst into a buzzing light blue tornado. The skeletons shrieked as the raging inferno swallowed up and vaporized them. This time, they wouldn't be reassembled. "Whoa!" Kai exclaimed, "Is that... Spinjitzu?"
"C'mon, guys, try it!" Jay happily exclaimed. The other three followed his command, and were soon performing Spinjitzu as well, knocking about bewildered and terrified Skeletons into the dust.
Samukai gaped. "Retreat!" he called, already fleeing from the ninja.
"Ha! That's for Nya, bone heads!" Kai shouted at them.
Jay chuckled at the pun, though the other two were unamused. "Alright guys, let's get out of here before the skeletons come back here, with reinforcements,"said Cole.
"Um... Comrades?" asked Zane.
"What?" Kai, Jay and Cole asked in unison.
"I sense we won't be able to spin out of this one,"
"What do you-" Jay paused as he noticed the huge beast looming over them.
"Is that a dragon?" Kai asked, afraid.
Cole let out a whimper.
The dragon gave a deafening roar, forcing the ninja to cover their ears. As soon as the tremor subsided, Kai swung his katana at the dragon's neck, but the blade simply shattered at the impact. Jay's spinjitzu barely even fazed it. The dragon swung it's tail at Kai, who was knocked into the cave wall. The scythe fell from his grasp and lay next to him. In a fit of desperation, Kai scrambled to his feet and grabbed it. "Don't!" Jay shouted, "Sensei told us not to."
"Got any better ideas?" Kai angrily retorted.
Jay was silent.
"Thought not." With a mighty heave, Kai plunged the golden weapon into the ground.
When the weapon made contact with the ground, an immense crack formed in the earth. Huge boulders fell from the cave ceiling as the tunnel began to collapse.
"We need to get out of here!" Cole cried. The four sprinted to the cave exit, faster than they thought they could run before. The dragon followed, but only covered a few feet before the entire floor gave way. Kai, Jay, Zane, and Cole leapt of just before it did so, and fell onto the desert sand of the skeleton camp, finally having reached the exit. Zane was the first to stand up. He looked down into the pit. He couldn't even see the bottom.
"It looks like there was a cave right underneath the one we were traveling by," he pointed out.
"And a big one," said Cole, "Now come on. Let's go find Sensei." It didn't take long for them to find him, as he was standing in the middle of the abandoned camp, obviously enraged.
"What were you thinking?" he shouted at Kai.
"Sorry, Sensei," Kai apologized, taken aback by his anger, "We had no other option!"
Sensei Wu glared at him for a second longer, then sighed.
"We cannot undo the past," he admitted, "But we can make sure this does not happen in the future. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, Sensei," said Kai. The others nodded. "Now," Wu began, "We still have three more weapons to find, and the Skullkin want them as well. Speaking of them, I think I have found out who their mysterious leader is: Lord Garmadon, my brother."
He began to explain his story about how his brother had been corrupted by greed and attempted to control the golden weapons, resulting in a battle between brothers. And how Lord Garmadon was banished to the underworld and apparently took control of the entire Skullkin army, making Samukai his second in command.
After the encounter in the caves, the road started to go more smoothly from there. They journeyed to the Port Town of Sakana. There they took a boat to the Frozen Wasteland, where they acquired the shurikens of ice. Then they hiked from the Wasteland all the way to the Sea of Sand, where they settled in a nearby village, and took the floating stairway, the safest way to the Floating ruins, where they found the nunchaku of lightning. From there, they headed to the forest of tranquility, where they stayed for one night.
Kai had finished building the fire (It didn't take very long, for obvious reasons). He went to go find Cole, and eventually caught up with him on top of the tallest hill in the area, gazing down upon the valley below.
"Hey, Cole," he began, "How much longer till the Fire temple?"
"Only a few miles," Cole answered, "But we have other problems. Hear that?"
Kai listened and faintly heard the beating of many drums. "Skullkin," he growled.
"Do you think they know we're here?"
"Almost definitely."
"We can't see them, and the drum beats are stopping, so they must be setting up camp."
"We should take shifts. You know, to guard the campsite."
"I'll go first, if you don't mind," a voice behind them spoke. Jay was behind them, leaning on a tree.
"How did you get here?" asked Kai.
"I walked," Jay said sarcastically, "Now go. I'll stay up here, and wake you when my shift is over."
***
"Ha! Those fool ninja have fallen for our trap!" Samukai gloated to his warriors, "They'll be expecting an attack from in front of the hill, not from behind. Soon we'll have them all, and Garmadon said he'll have a special trap planned for the annoying red one."
Wyplash licked his lips. "I love revenge" he exclaimed.
As they conversed, Nukal and Kruncha were leading a large patrol behind the campsite, waiting to attack.
"Kai!" a voice whispered, "Kai! Wake up!" The red ninja slowly opened his eyes. He suddenly jumped to his feet as he saw who was awakening him.
"Nya!" he cried, "How did you-"
"Be quiet! Now, follow me. I need to show you something." Kai shrugged and followed her, not knowing he was being watched by dozens, possibly even hundreds, of skeletons in the bushes. They sped through the forest, not stopping until they reached a large volcano with a gate and a bridge leading inside of it.
"The fire temple," Kai whispered.
"Come quickly," Nya urged, "Time is not on our side." Kai was somewhat struck by this word choice, but didn't let it bother him for long. As they explored the volcano, they soon came to a room with a lava pit in the center. At the very back, there was a lava waterfall leading deep down, that connected with the pit. Held by an iron chain, dangling right over the pit, was Nya, slowly being lowered into the flames.
"Nya, what-" Kai began, by stopped when the "Nya" behind him morphed into a shadow. It was Garmadon.
"Grab the sword, how else will you cut the chain and save your sister?" his raspy voice rang. That was when Kai noticed the sword propped up against the wall. If he grabbed it and freed her, the dark lord would only take it from him and rule all of Ninjago, forcing the warring governments to kneel before him. Even so, Kai didn't care, at least not as much as saving his sister.
He grabbed it. Leaping over the lava pit, he sliced down the chain and pulled her to the other side.
Blobs of molten rock and fire rose from the earth, large as trolls, and more dangerous.
"What are those things?" Nya blurted.
"Your demise," Garmadon said simply. In a panic, Kai unsheathed a throwing knife and hurled it at one. The monster simply absorbed the weapon into itself. The creatures got closer and closer...
Kai screamed as he blindly swung the sword of fire. When they met their target, the monster shrieked and turned to mere puddles. The rest simply retreated into the pit.
