"So, it's decided," decreed Jay. "We'll have a tournament. Whoever wins gets to be the green ninja." "Awesome," said Kai, cracking his knuckles. The four entered the training hall at the monastery, to find Nya trying out the new training course. She almost beat it, but got hit in the stomach with a spinning club and fell off.
"Hey, Nya," Jay said shyly, "Closer to beating your brother's record?"
"I'm getting there," she said, getting up, "So what happened in Jamanakai? False alarm?"
"Sort of," said Cole, "It's a long story."
"Nya, can we please use the training course?" Kai asked. She nodded, replying "I've had my fill." "Two matches," said Zane, "After that, the winners of each face off for the title."
"Hey Nya," said Kai, "Wanna stay and watch me mop the floor with them?"
"No thanks," said Nya, "I'll just go to Jamanakai village, to make sure everything's okay."

"First up: Kai vs Jay," said Cole. Jay and Kai readied their weapons.
"Go!" Cole shouted. The two ran at eachother. Jay swung his nunchaku, but Kai deflected them and punched him in the stomach. Jay stumbled back, and raised his weapon, preparing to take his adversary down with a bolt of energy. Instead, he shocked himself. The accident caught Jay off guard, and Kai knocked him down with a fireball.
"The winner is Kai!" said Cole.

"Next, Cole vs Zane," said Kai, "Go!"
Cole ran at Zane and swung his weapon, but the white ninja dodged, and the scythe chopped a wooden post in half. Cole sprinted after him and slashed more, but Zane deflected each blow with his shurikens and used them to freeze the black ninja's legs to the ground. Before Zane could do anything else, Cole thrust his weapon into the earth. A large piece of stone quickly rose from the ground and hit Zane in the stomach, sending him flying into the wall.

Ninjago S1E1 Part 6:
"For the title and prize of best ninja, blah blah Ninja go," Jay said sourly.
Kai and Cole ran at each other, their weapons clashing repeatedly. Cole swung his scythe, but Kai ducked, forcing the black ninja to step back and try something else. Cole plunged his scythe into the earth once more, creating a small earthquake that knocked Kai off his feet. Jay clapped. Kai angrily got up to his feet and did spinjizu, but his weapon soon got out of control.
"It's too... Hot!" he cried, dropping the sword and causing flames to rise from the ground. Kai fell backwards, the fire surrounding him and closing in on him.
"Kai!" Zane called out. Suddenly, the red ninja noticed the shape of a cloaked figure reaching out to him. Kai backed away as the dark hand left the fire and got close to his throat. Suddenly, he noticed drops of water falling from the sky, putting out the fire and the dark image. Then he saw Sensei holding the shurikens. He had summoned the rain.
"What were you thinking?" he shouted.
"We were trying to figure out who the green ninja is," Jay said. Cole glared at him. "Heh heh, let me rephrase-"
Sensei sighed. "You were not supposed to read that," he scolded, clearly deducing that they had found the scroll. "But Sensei," Kai argued, "We want to know. Which one of us is the green ninja?"
"I don't know," Wu admitted, "And we never will if you don't reach your full potential! However, if this is what it takes to train you, then so be it! You will learn eventually, but you are nowhere near the level of what it takes to be the green ninja, and it will take you a long time to get there."

Ninjago S1E1 part 7:
"Take the candy! Take it all!" Lloyd ordered his new army. The Hypnobrai marched through Jamanakai, sending the villagers running to their houses. Some were not fast enough, and were hypnotized into bringing other villagers to the snakes. In due time, virtually the entire village would be under their control. Meanwhile, Lloyd and a few other snakes were stuffing Hersheys bars into a wagon.
"My lord," Skales addressed his general, "With all due respect, why are we raiding this pathetic human village for something as unimportant as... Sweets?"
"Because I told you too," Slithraa answered simply, "Now go find master Lloyd some more candy!"
"Yes master," Skales nodded, and slithered back to the bakery.

Sensei was meditating, pondering if his ninja were ready to test the power of the golden weapons, when he saw a vision in the smoke of his fire place. It was the Serpentine. He gasped and broke concentration. He opened the door to the training hall, and spoke to the currently training ninja.
"The Serpentine are back!" he exclaimed, "Jamanakai village is in danger!"
"The Serpentine?" Kai asked.
"The ancient race of snake people who were locked underground to prevent the five tribes from destroying Ninjago with their war," Zane explained without missing a beat.
Jay snorted. "Snake people? That's scientifically impossible. It's probably just another scheme by those thugs."
"Whatever it is, it's trouble," said Cole, "Let's go!" The four quickly ran to the stables and boarded their dragons.
The four ninja landed their dragons in front of Lloyd, who was eating his thirty-second lollipop.
"Alright, kid. Call off your army!" Kai ordered.
"Get them!" Lloyd called. Four snakes jumped from their hiding places and attacked. Cole slashed at one with his scythe, but the snake dodged and jumped at him. Cole kicked it in the stomach and sent it crashing through a window into the bakery. Kai punched the second in the ribs and sliced its spear in half. Then he sent his opponent flying with a fireball. Jay blocked the third snake's club and nunchucked him in the forehead, causing him to slump to the ground, unconscious. The last one charged at Zane, who kicked the serpentine into the wall of the bakery and froze his arm to it, trapping him. During the battle, Lloyd had fled with his wagon of candy. The four sped after him, striking at any Hyponobrai in their way. Just before they caught up with him, five Serpentine archers got in between them and fired at the ninja, who jumped out of the way. Zane incapacitated the first two archers with a toss of his shuriken, while Cole sent the rest flying by driving his scythe into the ground. Eventually, they finally caught up with Lloyd. Kai angrily flipped over his wagon, spilling its candy onto the pavement. "Lloyd, call off the snakes," Cole commanded, "Or else." He brought out his weapon. Lloyd called for help. Kai fell over as a staff connected with the back of his head. It was Slithraa. Surprisingly swiftly, the Hypnobrai general struck down Zane, Jay and Cole in a similar fashion.
"Now die," Slithraa hissed. Zane quickly sent Slthraa flying into a hay stack with a kick to the stomach.
"Let's get out of here!" Jay called, as Skales led the rest of the troops towards the ninja. The four fled to roof tops, jumping from house to house to escape the Hypnobrai. Suddenly, a hand grabbed Kai's leg and pulled him down.

Ninjago S1E1 Part 9:
Kai drew his sword and came face to face with...
His little sister. The red ninja gave a sigh of relief and sheathed his weapon.
"Nya, you're okay," he said.
"Sort of," she said, "They've hypnotized almost the entire village. I think there is some way to stop them though. The antivenom is in the staff. If the villagers drink that, they'll be fine,"
"Who has the staff?" asked Kai.
"I think the general does. The one with the tail. For some reason he stays close to Lloyd," said Nya.
"Thanks, Nya," said Kai, "I'll tell the others."

"Alright, so here's the plan," said Cole, "We attack the snakes all at once. The element of surprise should allow us to get the staff and capture Lloyd." The four were on the top of a Jamanakai building, looking down at the gathering of snakes below them.
"I'm afraid that will be a problem," a voice hissed from behind. They turned to see Skales and five Hypnobrai archers.
"Go!" shouted Cole, "I'll handle these creeps." The archers fired as Kai, Jay, and Cole jumped into the swarm below. Cole spun his scythe like a baton, deflecting the arrows and sending shockwaves that knocked back three of the archers. Cole kicked another off the roof, but that gave the last one enough time to reload. Cole chopped the arrow in half as it sped toward him and knocked the archer off with Spinjitzu. He turned, but it was too late. Skales was already hypnotizing him.

As Kai fought about a dozen Serpentine, Lloyd sped away from the battle with his wagon.
"Consider this a warning, ninja!" he shouted. Zane threw his shurikens at the wagons wheels, causing them to freeze to the ground. Lloyd fell and the candy fell out (again). He got up and stared at the white ninja in front of him.
"Retreat!" he called. The Hypnobrai fled from the village, but not before Jay kicked Slithraa in the stomach, causing him to drop the staff.
"Thank you for your selfless contribution," he said, picking up the staff as the general slithered away.
Kai poured the staff's contents into the fountain, which evaporated the antivenom and sent a blue gas spreading across Jamanakai, curing the villagers.
"Well," he said, getting up, "That went surprisingly well."
"I'm glad it's over," Jay agreed.
"Where is Cole?" asked Zane.
"I'm over here," the black ninja said, rubbing his forehead, "I feel kinda... Off. Must be some weird snake stuff."
"Speaking of snake people," said Jay, mostly ignoring him, "How is that possible? I thought it was just some ridiculous legend."
"I dunno, but I don't really care," said Kai, "I'm just glad we can bust some heads again."

"You coward!" Mezmo spat at Skales, "We all know Lloyd has found a way to control him. You are the second in command of the Hypnobrai, yet you do nothing?"
"Now isss not the time," Skales retorted, "I've been plotting, and I have recently taken control of the sssssituation. One of the ninja is under my ssssspell, and, when the time is right, I will use him to destroy the others, and take leadership of thissss tribe. Then, we shall finally rule Ninjago."
The mailman trodded up the mountain to the ninja's dojo.
"I... Hate... Walking," he panted when he finally reached the front gate.
"Delivery!" he shouted. Sensei Wu opened the gate.
"Here's your stuff," he said, giving him a few letters and a package, "You should install an elevator or something." Sensei shut the gate with a muttered thank you. When the mailman was gone, he called to his ninja "You can come out now!"
The four emerged from their hiding places.
"Sensei, why do we have to keep our identities secret?" Kai asked.
"Because if you didn't, our enemies would track us down!" Sensei exclaimed, "Now take your mail."
Cole took his package and Jay took a letter from his parents.
"Well that's just great. I haven't gotten my package yet, even though I've been waiting for almost two months. I guess ordering a one of a kind piece of technology from Taiwan has it's disadvantages," he said.
"Hey Zane, how come you never get anything from your parents?" asked Kai.
"I don't remember my parents," Zane said sadly, "I've been an orphan all my life." Jay and Kai exchanged glances.
"So you've never had a home?" asked Kai. Zane shook his head sadly.
"The monastery is your home now," Sensei said. Zane nodded and walked off to his room.

"I ssstil can't believe you hypnotized one of the ninja!" Mezmo exclaimed, "Doesss the general know?"
"Of courssse not!" Skales answered, "He is under the control of Lloyd, and I plan to use that for my bessst interest."
It was about then when Slithraa entered the room of the still-under-construction giant tree house.
"Everyone works while you two sssslack?" he asked, "Get to work!"
"Yesss, my lord," Skales hissed, bowing.
"Hey!" Lloyd called up at them from the elevator, "Keep working! This place is supposed to be ninja-proof! I WANT A DEFENSE SYSTEM ASAP!"
Zane stepped outside of the monastery to take out the garbage. Once he was done, he turned to go back inside, but heard a noise behind him. He turned to see a falcon perched on a tree branch. Zane stared at it for a moment. Something seemed off about it. The falcon twitched it's head and flew to another branch, further back. It twitched again. It wanted Zane to come to it. Zane followed it down the mountain, and into the nearby forest. By the time he could no longer see it, he heard faint noises. He followed them and found a huge wooden fortress in the trees, crawling with Hypnobrai, along with multiple cannons and ballistae. It seemed impossible to break into.
Seemed.

Kai, Jay, Cole and Zane sprinted through the forest. It was around midnight, so they managed to hide from the occasional Serpentine patrol.
"So," Kai panted, "How did you find Lloyd's secret base out here?"
"I followed a bird," Zane said simply.
"A bird?" Cole asked, "Why?"
"Because it danced," said Zane.
"It danced," Jay repeated.
"Yes."
"Come on guys," Cole urged, "Let's go,"
They resumed sprinting to the spot where Zane found the fortress.
"Whoa," Kai said potting it, "Frosty was right! How are we gonna get past those guards?"
"Easy," said Cole, "Stick to the shadows." He disappeared into the forest. The other three went off in different directions. Kai snuck to the back, kicked the guard unconscious, and climbed to the top, unnoticed. Cole got in by sneaking into one of the carriages. Jay and Zane snuck up using the trees.
"Still working on it. Jay, have you noticed any weak spot that we can use to destroy the base?" Cole asked.
"I'm not entirely sure, but I think I overheard some guards talking about a huge pipe in the heart of the base that carries water everywhere. If we destroy it, it may create a flood that will wreck the entire tree house," Jay replied.
"Alright then, we need to find that pipe and destroy it before Lloyd's little playhouse becomes operational," said Cole.
The four snuck through the fortress, avoiding and hiding from any Hypnobrai soldiers who happened to cross nearby. Eventually, they reached the room in the center. There, in the middle of the room, was a huge pipe. Oddly, nobody was around. Cole noticed this.
"Draw your weapons," he said, "Something's up..." The other three did as they were told. Suddenly, three Serpentine leaped from the shadows. One carried two daggers, one carried an axe, and the other carried a spiked club.
Kai snorted. "What, just THREE?" he asked, "These guys are mine." He charged them, carelessly swinging his sword back and forth. The three Serpentine easily blocked his attacks, obviously enjoying it, until the one with the daggers kicked him in the stomach. The snake with the axe raised his weapon to strike the red ninja, but Cole forced him to jump backwards with a swing of his scythe.
"Who are these guys?" asked Jay.
"The mightiest of the Hypnobrai, the General's royal guard," Zane answered without hesitation.
"Zane, you help Kai take on the one to the left," Cole ordered, "Jay, take the one on the right. I've got the leader."
