The ninja charged the Serpentine. Zane kicked the one with the axe into a wall and helped Kai up. Jay attacked the one with the club, and Cole swung at the one with the daggers, who blocked it with his weapons, but he was a bit too late, and one of his daggers flew from his grasp. Meanwhile, Jay was finding it difficult to block his opponents club with such a light weapon, so he decided to use his brute force against him. The blue ninja ducked the next swing and, before he could swing again, kicked the Hypnobrai in the knee, causing him to double over. The Hypnobrai with the daggers continued to block Cole's attacks, even with only one knife. The earth ninja raised his weapon again, but the Serpentine slashed at his arm, causing him to cry out and drop his weapon. Suddenly, the snake with the axe was launched to the one with the dagger, sending them both falling to the ground. Cole got up to see Kai and Zane.
"You're welcome," said Kai.
"That fight was rather unfair, as we outnumbered them," Zane pointed out, having rushed to bandage Cole's arm. The cut was not deep; the earth ninja was fine after a bit. "So? It was still fun," said Kai.
"Impressive," a voice spoke from behind. The four turned to see Slithraa, standing in front of the entrance.
"I admit you have surprisssed me, humans," he hissed, "But you will not leave this room alive." The Hypnobrai leader drew a sword from his belt and charged. He punched Jay in the stomach and used his tail to trip Kai to the ground. He swung his katana at Zane, who blocked it with his shurikens.
"Cole... Help!" Zane cried. Suddenly, he realized that Cole was simply standing in place. Zane shoved Slithraa away.
"Cole?" he asked. Coles eyes were glowing red, and he raised his weapon.
"What... What wizardry is thisss?" Slithraa hissed.
"Mine," Skales called down at him from a staircase near the left wall.
"What did you do to Cole?" Kai demanded.
"I hypnotized him, idiot," said Skales. Cole ran at Zane and elbowed him in the ribs, sending him crumpling to the ground. By this time, the General's royal guards had gotten up, and Hypnobrai soldiers were flooding through the entrances, along with Lloyd.
Kai and Jay held them back using Spinjitzu, while Zane tried to get Cole to return to normal.
"Cole!" he cried, dodging a swing of a scythe, "It's me! Za-" He was interrupted when the Hypnobrai guard with the daggers kicked him onto the ground.
"There's too many of them!" Jay shouted, barely dodging a spear.
"All the more baddies to fight!" Kai said, trying to sound tough as he got battered by tons of armed snakes.
"Destroy them! Make them pay for interfering with my plans!" Lloyd shouted. Suddenly, a song split the air. It was coming from outside the fortress. It was soft, yet wild at the same time. Cole stopped in his tracks, and his eyes turned normal.
"What-" he began. He was interrupted when the west wall was ripped open, sending wood splinters flying everywhere. The Serpentine stared at the massive red dragon who had done that, ridden by Sensei Wu and Nya.
"Flame!" Kai cried. The red dragon released a jet of fire that sent the Serpentine running, and even incinerated some. Skales gaped.
"Stay and fight!" Lloyd commanded. Skales ignored him.
"Retreat!" he called, and the snakes did so.
"No! Get over here you cowards!" shouted Lloyd. Slithraa grabbed him and pulled him to safety.
"Hey, what are you-" the ninja could not hear the dark lord's son as he was brought to safety.
Kai slashed at the pipe a few times, causing water to burst out.
"Climb on!" Sensei shouted. The four jumped onto Flame, who carried them off.
"I'm surprised we all fit on this," said Jay. Sensei ignored him, deeming the remark irrelevant. "Quickly, we must go. The monastery is unguarded!" he exclaimed.
***
After a short flight, Flame and his riders arrived at the smoldering ruins of the monastery.
"We're too late!" Kai exclaimed. Flame landed, and Cole ran to the dragon stables. The dragons were safe, but they were obviously frightened. Cole opened their doors and they flew out.
"Shard, put out the fire!" Zane cried. The ice dragon summoned a rain cloud that put out the remaining flames.
"I don't understand, how did they know this was our home?" Jay asked. Sensei bowed his head sadly.
"They knew my father, and they knew about this monastery. They must have recognized me as a Garmadon," he whispered.
"The staff is gone," Cole informed them, "They took it."
"Who cares?" Kai shouted at him, "They destroyed our home! I couldn't care less about that!" Then, he turned to Zane.
"This is all your fault," he growled, "If you hadn't followed that stupid bird, none of this would have ever happened!"
"Kai, I am sorry, but-"
"Sorry? What is wrong with you? EVERYTHING IS GONE!" Kai shouted.
"KAI! ENOUGH!' Sensei roared. Kai stopped.
"Sorry, Sensei, I didn't-"
"Don't apologize to me! Apologize to your brother! NOW!"
"Yes, Sensei," Kai said, turning to Zane, "Zane, I'm... Zane? Where's Zane?" He looked up to see Shard flying away from the ruins, with a white ninja on his back.
Slithraa led the Hypnobrai army down into their frosty tomb, along with Lloyd, when he saw Skales in front of him, holding the Hypnobrai staff.
"Ah, Skalessss!" he hissed, "You found my sssstaff! Give it to me."
"No," Skales said simply. Slithraa froze.
"What?" he asked, more bewildered than upset. "I like this staff." said Skales, "I think I'll keep it."
"You dare defy my command?" shouted Slithraa. The Hypnobrai looked at each other, murmuring. After a few seconds, they were all chanting "Slither pit! Slither pit!"
"It appearsss we will have to sssettle this with a slither pit," Skales hissed. Slithraa hesitated.
"Very well," he growled. Skales grinned.
***
"Now, it is time to begin the long awaited Slither pit!" Mezmo announced to the cheering crowd, "Who will win? The general, or his apprentice? Choose your weaponsss!" A small table rose in the center of the slither pit. Skales chose two katanas, and Slithraa chose a war hammer and a shield.
"Begin!" Mezmo called. The two Hypnobrai leaders ran/slithered at eachother. Skales slashed at Slithraa's neck, but the general ducked and swung his spiked hammer down on him. Skales somersaulted out of the way before he was hit. Slithraa tried to pull his weapon out of the ice, but it was stuck. He let go and snatched a shard of ice that had been detached from the floor on impact, prepared to use it as a dagger. Skales slashed some more, but Slithraa blocked it with his shield and stabbed his opponent in the wrist. Skales screeched and dropped one of his katanas. He angrily ran up a nearby wall and kicked Slithraa in the stomach repeatedly, until he fell down.
"He used Fang Kwan do!" Rattla exclaimed.
"Get up!" Lloyd called, but Slithraa was unconscious.
"Winner: Skales!" Mezmo cried, even as Slithraa's tail vanished and turned into a pair of legs, and as vice versa happened to Skales. Skales grinned, then turned to Lloyd.
"You! Leave and never return!" he hissed. Lloyd fled from the pit, but not without picking up a map to the Serpentine tombs while doing so.
In Ninjago city, there was a man running a hot dog stand. He was just finishing up his next batch when he realized that six of hot dogs were gone. In their place were two twenty dollar bills, with a sticky note saying Keep the change. The man scratched his head, they had been there a second ago.
***
"I'm back," said Cole, carrying a bag with six wrapped hot dogs in them. He, Jay, Kai, Nya and Wu all took one, leaving the last for Zane in case he came back.
"What, no mustard?" asked Kai, taking a bite. Cole rolled his eyes and grinned. Rocky, Wisp and Flame were napping behind them. The ninja had set up camp near a lake, where the ever-self-reliant dragons had caught and eaten their own fish.
"Remember," Sensei said, "We must be thankful for what we still have."
"What do we have?" asked Cole, "Our home was destroyed."
"You know, it's not the monastery that I miss," Kai said, regretful but satisfied by the hot dog, "What I really want back is Zane."
"Uh, guys?" asked Jay nervously.
"Jay, what is-" Kai stopped when he saw the bandit holding a knife to Jay's throat. Kai drew his sword, but was pulled back by two more from behind. Sensei tried to help, but froze when he noticed the gun aimed at his head.
"Move and the old one dies," a bandit with a red cloak spoke, wielding a crossbow. Cole hesitated, but put his hands up. So did Nya.
"Give us all your money," the cloaked one growled. "Wow, that's original," Jay remarked as a bandit pocketed his wallet. Cole slowly reached into his pocket and pulled out his as well.
"Excellent," said the cloaked one.
"Not exactly," a voice from behind called. A white blur knocked the bandit with the gun into the lake. It was Zane. The sound of the splash caused the dragons to stir. With one bandit gone, Wu got up and knocked out the one in the cloak with his staff. Jay wrestled the knife from a stunned bandit's hand and kicked him to the ground. Kai, Nya and Cole just sort of beat up the last two.
The cloaked bandit rubbed his forehead as he fled from the lake area. His minions followed.
"Jay, I think that man still has your wallet," Zane remarked. "That's okay, I had like three bucks in there anyways."
"Zane!" Kai exclaimed, "You came back!" Zane looked confused.
"Of course I did," he said, "Why wouldn't I?"
"What about those awful things I said? Isn't that why you left?"
"Of course not," said Zane, "I saw the falcon and followed him again."
Col and Kai looked at each other.
"By the way," said Zane, "I must show you what I found. Follow me."
***
"Whoa," the ninja (apart from Zane) said in unison as they stared at what laid before them. In the sands of a nearby desert, they saw a ship perched on the ground. It was only partially broken, and it looked like a typical ship, except for a dragon head on the front.
"Here it is," said Zane, "our new home."
"Do I smell... Pie?" asked Jay.
"I made three kinds," said Zane, "Cranberry, Apple, and Pumpkin."
"Dibs on Pumpkin!" Jay shouted, running to the ship.
"No way, it's mine!" said Cole, running after him. Kai and Nya followed.
"Sensei," said Zane,
"I am proud of you Zane," said Sensei, "One day, I promise, we will find your family."
"I already have," Zane said, glancing towards the bounty. Wu smiled and nodded.
"Sensei," Zane said, "Will I become the green ninja?" Wu thought for a moment.
"Only time will tell," he said simply. Zane understood.
"Now come," said Sensei, "It would be a shame to let them eat all that pie." The two walked to the ship.
The outline of a man was barely visible as he slipped through the forest.
Or, it slipped through the forest; making sure nobody was nearby, it signaled three others to follow. The were not humans, however. They were machines. Machines that had been under construction for months. Machines build to destroy. Specifically, to destroy four ninjas. These machines were basically humans, just made of metal, and enhanced with weaponry and knowledge of martial arts. The four eventually arrived at a clearing, full of broken trees, large puddles of water, and items such as weapons, chunks of metal, and candy wrappers. The leader took a picture using his right eye, noting the ruins of a handful of scattered wooden structures. "We must report this to the master," he spoke, "The ninja were here." The other three mechanical warriors nodded, and followed their leader into the darkness of the forest.
(Heads up, for some reason I included monsters from LOTR in this, was kind of obsessed at the time so sorry about the confusion. Fell beasts are those dragon things and wargs are the big wolves)
Ninjago S1E3 Part 1:
Well THAT was easy, Jay thought as he walked from the Blacksmith shop. He had just picked up the last few pieces he need for his invention, which he had been working on for two weeks straight. The blue ninja wanted to get back to the bounty as soon as possible, so that he could finish its upgrades. His backpack was ridiculously heavy, so he decided to take a short cut through another part of the desert. After a few minutes, Jay saw a large cave leading underground.
"That's odd," he whispered, "Nobody ever mentioned a cave. I must've taken a wrong turn." He turned around to try to get back on the path, but stepped on a twig, which snapped beneath his shoe.
He heard a growl coming from the cave. Then two more.
***
Kai was in the kitchen, reading the newspaper for any sign of the Serpentine, when he heard a small noise, like a person shouting. He got up. Was it Jay? Why was he shouting? Sure enough, Jay burst into the room.
"Let's get out of here," he suggested.
"Why?" Kai asked. Suddenly, the roof of the bounty was torn open by huge claws, revealing a fell beast, who bellowed a deafening roar.
"That's why," said Jay. He pulled the tools from his backpack and ran into the Bridge. "The Bridge" was his name for the control center of the bounty, aka his "invention." Jay instantly set to work with his new tools as Cole ran into the room.
"What's going on?" he asked. Suddenly, part of the wall of the Bridge shattered as an oversized rhino crashed through it.
"That," said Jay, connecting the last few wires in the control panel. He pressed the big, red button in the middle.
The bounty lifted off into the air, powered by rockets and propellers located under the mechanism. When it was just a few feet from the ground, Cole swung at the rhino with his scythe, causing it to back away and fall out of the hole it made. Meanwhile, Kai and Zane drove the fell beast off with a few blasts of fire and ice.

Ninjago S1E3 Part 2:
"So... Jay," inquired Cole, "What were those things?"
"Two of the monsters I ran into during the 'short cut' I took," Jay replied.
"What do you mean by 'two of?'" asked Kai, walking into the Bridge.
"Well, there was a third one," Jay admitted, "A Warg. A big Warg. A REALLY big warg. Just be glad he was the slowest." Cole and Kai exchanged concerned glances. Suddenly, Jay's uPhone started ringing. He glanced to see who it was.
"Oh, no," he sighed, answering it, "Hi, mom. I'm kinda busy right now, so... Yeah."
"Okay," said Edna (Jay's mom, of course), "Can you come on over to the junkyard tomorrow afternoon? I have a surprise for you."
"Okay, I might be busy though. Bye," said Jay, hanging up as fast as he could.
"Hey, guys," Jay said, Do you know if-" He realized they had left for some reason. The blue ninja smiled. That meant he could work on his secret project. He punched a few numbers into the bounty's keyboard, causing a secret door to slide open. Jay walked inside and pressed a button, closing the secret door.
He turned on the light switch, revealing a large room, packed with machinery. The most piece of technology of them all stood in the center of the room: His supercomputer. He grabbed a few tools and set to work. After about an hour, he stood up. The basic model was finished. He would install his upgrades later. Jay turned it on.
"Hello, master," a voice from the supercomputer rang. It had a special computer chip that acted as a brain, making it seem alive; Jay had had this chip imported.
"Give me a 100 meter scan of the area round the bounty," asked Jay.
"Scan completed, master," said the supercomputer.
"Any sign of Warg, Fell beast, or rhino?"
"No, master."
"Good, thank you." Jay wasn't sure why he said thank you to a machine. Now all it needs is a name, thought Jay, I'll come up with one later. If I'm gone for long, Sensei might get suspicious.
"The Fangpyre tomb should be somewhere over here," he said to himself shakily. He heard some scuttling and a twig snap behind him. Lloyd yelped and ran as fast as he could. After a while, he stopped.
"The Fangpyre tomb," he whispered, "Arch nemesis of the Hypnobrai. Now, they shall bow to me, Lloyd Garmadon!" Thunder struck behind him, causing him to yelp again.
"No more evil declarations," he grumbled, pulling a lever. Suddenly, red, viper-like Serpentine jumped from out of the pit, followed by a two headed one with a staff: The general, Lloyd deduced.
"My name is Fangtom," one head hissed, "And, may I asssssk, who released us?"
"I... I am Lloyd Garmadon," Lloyd stuttered frightfully, "I released you to help me destroy the Hypnobrai for betraying me."
"The Hypnobrai?" the second head asked, "We'll help you. We're not exactly their greatest allies, you know."
"I'll lead the way to their new fortress," said Lloyd, breathing a sigh of relief, "In exchange for some ninja I want destroyed!"
"Sounds like you know what you want," Fangtom's two heads said in unison. Lloyd grinned.
"But the Hypnobrai are strong," said the first head, "And we are few in numbers."
"We need reinforcements," said the second.
"Reinforcements?" asked Lloyd. The Fangpyre soldiers cackled among themselves.
"Show us the nearesssst human settlement, and will we show you what we mean," said the first head.

Ninjago S1E3 Part 4:
"Master, may I remind you that it is time to go to your parent's junk yard?" the supercomputer buzzed. Jay sighed and stopped working on the security system.
"Thanks," he said, "I'll go get Wisp." Checking through the security camera to make sure nobody was near the Bridge, Jay activated the secret door and exited his lab, shutting the door using the bounty's main computer. He walked to the dragon hold and opened Wisp's gate.
"Alright, Wisp," he said, pulling on the reins, "Let's go." Wisp would not budge.
"Wisp, are you okay?"
"It is as I suspected," said Sensei, "The dragons are shedding their scales."
"When did you get here?" asked Jay.
"The dragons are migrating to the eastern border," said Sensei, ignoring the question. "Will we ever see them again?" asked Kai.
"I cannot say for sure."
"Seriously, guys. Were you following me?" asked Jay. Cole and Zane walked in. Again, everyone ignored him. "Bye Rocky," Cole said sadly, petting the earth dragon's muzzle.
***
"Thanks for coming with me, guys," said Jay, only partially meaning it. Sensei, Kai, Zane, Cole and Nya were walking with him to the junk yard while the bounty was under repairs. Of course, they didn't KNOW it was a junk yard yet, it was kind of embarrassing. Wait, no. Really embarrassing. Finally, they reached the junkyard.
"THAT'S your house?" Kai asked, snickering.
"Well my house is IN it," Jay admitted, "My parents own this property, it's like a small business, or something." He paused. "But it's oddly... Quiet. This place is never quiet."
"Not with you around," Kai snorted. Jay glared at him. "That doesn't even make any sense, we just got here." Kai shrugged and they walked inside.
"Mom? Dad?" Jay called. Cole heard a small noise from behind and drew his scythe.
"Something's wrong," said Jay.
"Yes, something is very wrong!" a voice called down to them from behind, "You're still alive!" The ninja turned.
There, standing on top of Ed and Edna's trailer, stood none other than Randy Oakroup.
