That's a good point. But when she revealed herself as the Queen, her acting was so cringy.
They were okay, I think McGergor did much better in the other films, but yeah, the acting for Jar Jar was good, but annoying. Sure Jake Lloyd did better than Hayden Christiansen.
GOOD*
I don't know, it could have been worse, but I agree she wasn't the most interesting or likable character.
Um, I actually disagree. I think Hayden did a marvelous job, he just had bad dialogue to work with. He conveys some serious emotion in both II and III and I think he did much better than Lloyd, although of course the latter was just a little boy, so I don't want to be too judgmental.
*absolutely breathtaking and awesome in every way
Also, I just wanna add that I love how we are two people on the Internet with differing opinions about Star Wars who can discuss it in a civilized manner. That is almost unheard of.
Oh, I liked Padme in II and III. She was much better in those.
Are you kidding me? There was no emotion in anything he said. The acting sucked, it was the worst acting I have ever seen in my life. I don't think anybody has anything good to say about his acting. That guy shouldn't be allowed in TV or movies ever again!!
I hate Jar Jar. He's annoying. Okay?
Ikr? Normally we would've pulled out the guns by now.
1. A New Hope 2. The Phantom Menace 3. The Empire Strikes Back 4. The Return of the Jedi 5. Revenge of the Sith 6. Attack of the Clones 7. Clone Wars (technically counts since it was a movie :3) 8. The Force Awakens 9. The Holiday Special 10. The Last Jedi.
This is not based on the critical competency of the movies, but rather, on my personal experiences with them. I watched the prequels when I was very young so I actually like them quite a lot -- particularly the Phantom Menace. Midichlorians and Pod Racing for the win.
Also -- I have not seen the Holiday Special, but I really hate the Last Jedi, so I used the Holiday Special to make TLJ the butt of a joke
That's kind of unfairly mean to poor old Episode VIII, but anyway, YIKES!!! Episode I at 2nd place!?!?!? I don't think I've ever seen that before! I mean, I guess if it's based on childhood nostalgia, that kinda makes sense, but still, that's insanely high.
I actually share his sentiments on sand, though. The line that most deserves to be made fun of rather than that one, though, is, "You are in my very soul, tormenting me." That and pretty much every other line in that scene.
"Not just the men... but the women! And the children!" -Anakin Skywalker. And he and Padme stayed together after that... how?
The fact that nobody saw this line and tried to critique it is likely a crime against humanity.
*the children too
I honestly think that was a well-acted scene and never understood the complaints made against it. Also, he was obviously going through a tough time with his mother he hadn't seen in years just having been murdered by savage alien people, and only getting to talk to him for about 30 seconds before she died. I can totally get why he went bonkers on them, and why she understood and comforted him rather than being scared away from their relationship. Plus, let us not forget, she truly, deeply, loved him.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to call out that line/scene as cringy, although personally I find it entertainingly over-the-top.
I don't know, it could have been worse, but I agree she wasn't the most interesting or likable character.

Okay, agreed.
No way! If anything was dull, it was the script. He pulls off 19-year-old-who's-been-forced-to-suppress-his-emotions-for-the-last-ten-years-and-is-just-now-meeting-his-crush-for-the-first-time-in-that-long-and-so-doesn't-know-how-to-handle-his-feelings-but-also-has-his-mother-kidnapped-and-tortured-and-smashed-by-desert-aliens-and-then-gets-manipulated-to-join-the-Dark-Side-by-an-evil-mastermind perfectly. The scenes that first come to mind when I think of his acting talent are:
-"I killed them all!"
-Padmé's Ruminations
-"Don't lecture me, Obi-Wan!"
-His part of Order 66
I was talking about the soundtrack there, not Jar Jar. I don't like Jar Jar either, though I think it sucks that they didn't go through with the bad-guy twist.

"LIAR!"
"PUT THE SHIP DOWN!"
"I DON'T CARE PUT THE SHIP DOWN!"
"No I'm taking him NOW!"
"I killed them all. The women, and the children. They were animals! And I slaughtered them like animals! ...I HATE THEM."
"I don't like sand... it's coarse, and rough, and irritating... and it gets all over the place."
"Now THIS is podracing!"
"I HATE YOU!!!"
"What have I done?!"
"I have brought peace! Justice! And security to my new empire!"

I actually think those were Anakin's worst acting points. He rumbled his lines with no emotion, dignity, class, or general personality. Yes, personality is found even in the way we talk, and he was so blunt there was nothing there. The character and the dialogue showed great character, but the actor wrecked the controversy, rashness, and eagerness of his character.
Oh, my bad. I don't think they should've made Jar-Jar a bad guy. He doesn't really seem, deep enough for that.
Ur ignoring the facts completely!!! Did you ivin watch the movies? It is so clear!!!! You don't know anything about star wars..............................

"He's holding me BACK!"
"YOU WILL NOT TAKE HER FROM ME!"
"You underestimate my powers!"
"From my point of view the Jedi are evil!"
etc.
-Anakin Skywalker
Despite the occasional misquote in there, I appreciate this collection of examples of times Hayden Christensen showed emotion.

I can't make myself agree with any of this, you might need to rewatch the prequels. At least II and III, especially since you seem to hate I even more than the average Star Wars fan. At least rewatch those scenes, you can see the character's tortured mind through his facial expressions alone. And in the scene where Obi-Wan confronts him, you can see and feel his anger in just about every line.
They actually were setting him up to be revealed as one. The actor, Ahmed Best, confirmed it was the plan at one point, and you can see clues of it throughout Episode I. You should look it up, there are even plot threads that make way more sense when you see it that way.

He kind of blabs the lines like he's out of breath. The acting was bad, just plain bad. I didn't see a tortured mind, I saw some forced worry lines on his face. He tried too hard, and ended up looking like an idiot. And when Obi-Wan confronts him, I laugh every time I see that scene. That acting was pathetic.
I guess, but I still think it would've been bad.
YOU ARE SO OBNOXIOUS YOU DONT LIKE STAR WARS U LIKE STUPID MARVEL MOVIES. YOU JUST WACH ThEM FOR The ACTIOn WHEN THEY ARE ABOUT SO MUCH MORE>

Meh, this is something that's hard to argue about without actually being able to break down specific clips together, so let's just let it go.
It definitely would have changed his reputation in the fanbase.

Yeah, we would have had a real excuse for our hatred. I mean, he was annoying, but so was Anakin.
