Those were all pretty awesome moments. However, I wish the pacing was better.
That's my biggest complaint with that movie. It's the only Star Wars movie that ever made me feel bored, even for a second, the first time I watched it. The podracing is cool, sure, but it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG. All that time could have been used for more development of Anakin and Obi-Wan's relationship later on, which was barely shown at all. The whole part of the movie that takes place on Tatooine should have been much shorter. As I said on my rankings, though, I love Watto. He's just so fun.
What do you like about Watto so much?
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.
Are you saying the Holiday Special is enjoyable? And more so than anything, even Phantom Menace? (I mean, I haven't seen it, so this could be considered unfair judgment, but... )
Ok.
I would say it is entirely unfair to make this judgement if you haven't seen the holiday special.
Well, it is a 2-hour straight-to-TV movie from the late '70s that is mostly about Wookiees which can't speak, isn't and never really was considered canon, and that George Lucas said he wished he could obliterate from the Earth. I'm pretty sure I can safely say it is worse than any of the theatrically released films.
My thoughts exactly. However, in my opinion Across the Stars makes even the cringy romance dialogue more than watchable. Also, I think it's really unfair that people call AotC the worst just because of about 15% of the movie. I honestly think the Anakin and Padme plot gets really interesting after they leave Naboo, and even on Naboo I think the meadow picnic scene is really good (specifically when they talk about how government should work).
Also, no one talks like they do in Shakespeare's plays, and yet he is considered one of the greatest authors of all time. Anakin and Padme, while not behaving or speaking normally, are at least closer to reality than Romeo and Juliet, and yet are called "cringy" and "awful" and stuff.
Little side note: First time I watched Episode II, the Obi-Wan mystery plot had me on the edge of my seat.
Across the Stars prevents me from absolutely despising that film.
Shakespeare’s dialog has rhythm, metaphors, and puns, and it is to be used in a play. Very different from Attack of the Clones’ flat, uninteresting dialog.
I would be all for an Obi-Wan and Anakin detective show set between episodes I and II.
It's so beautiful. The whole soundtrack is great, of course.
Still, no one talks that way either. Although I do understand that plays are very different from films, and you can get away with cheesier dialogue in them, there's really only one romance scene in the movie that I find less than enjoyable, which is where they're eating floaty CGI pears and being awkward. The meadow picnic, as I said, I actually find pretty good, the fireplace scene is just amusing because of how over-the-top it is, and of course "I don't like sand" is too much of a meme for me not to enjoy at this point. (That and I actually really agree with him, sand is awful. )
I mean, yeah, I guess, but don't they have plenty of screen time together in The Clone Wars?

It's hard to explain. As I said, he's just kinda... fun. I think it's just how silly and different he is, plus his voice, which is just awesome. I enjoy every second he's on screen.
Also, some of his lines are just so hilarious the way he says them and outrageously fun to imitate. Examples:
"NO, THEY WON'T-A!" "OONLY MONEEEEY." "HE AL-UH-WAYS WINS!"
I would say it is entirely unfair to make this judgement if you haven't seen the holiday special.

The Phantom Menace was awful too.
It has some good aspects. Sure, Jar Jar is annoying, and Tatooine gets boring at times, but there's still a cool fight sequence, epic soundtrack courtesy of our man Williams, some memorable performances from Neeson, McGregor, and McDiarmid, plus of course Watto.
(You can't convince me any movie with a Williams score is worse than a '70s TV special. )

The podrace dragged on too long...Natalie Portman's performance was shameful, and I can't say much of the other acting was better. Liam Neeson was the only guy who really did it right.

The soundtrack was fine, as always.
I agree with you about the podrace, Portman kinda had no choice to be monotonous and boring when she was the queen so no one would be able to tell the difference between her and Keira Knightley in the makeup.
I would say not just Neeson, as I said, McGregor and McDiarmid are great, also you can't say Ahmed Best didn't do a good job portraying Jar Jar just because it's something no one wanted being portrayed. And Jake Lloyd is alright for such a little kid, he's actually kinda cute.

FINE!?!? IT'S JOHN BRICKIN' WILLIAMS!!!!!
That's a good point. But when she revealed herself as the Queen, her acting was so cringy.
They were okay, I think McGergor did much better in the other films, but yeah, the acting for Jar Jar was good, but annoying. Sure Jake Lloyd did better than Hayden Christiansen.

GOOD*
I don't know, it could have been worse, but I agree she wasn't the most interesting or likable character.
Um, I actually disagree. I think Hayden did a marvelous job, he just had bad dialogue to work with. He conveys some serious emotion in both II and III and I think he did much better than Lloyd, although of course the latter was just a little boy, so I don't want to be too judgmental.
*absolutely breathtaking and awesome in every way
Also, I just wanna add that I love how we are two people on the Internet with differing opinions about Star Wars who can discuss it in a civilized manner. That is almost unheard of.

Yeah, Hayden is a fine actor. I’d like to hear anyone try his terrible dialog.

I actually share his sentiments on sand, though. The line that most deserves to be made fun of rather than that one, though, is, "You are in my very soul, tormenting me." That and pretty much every other line in that scene.

1. A New Hope 2. The Phantom Menace 3. The Empire Strikes Back 4. The Return of the Jedi 5. Revenge of the Sith 6. Attack of the Clones 7. Clone Wars (technically counts since it was a movie :3) 8. The Force Awakens 9. The Holiday Special 10. The Last Jedi.
This is not based on the critical competency of the movies, but rather, on my personal experiences with them. I watched the prequels when I was very young so I actually like them quite a lot -- particularly the Phantom Menace. Midichlorians and Pod Racing for the win.
Also -- I have not seen the Holiday Special, but I really hate the Last Jedi, so I used the Holiday Special to make TLJ the butt of a joke

"Not just the men... but the women! And the children!" -Anakin Skywalker. And he and Padme stayed together after that... how?
The fact that nobody saw this line and tried to critique it is likely a crime against humanity.
