Yeah, Star Wars is pretty much dead to me in terms of new stuff coming out. I haven't watched/played/read any of Disney's SW stuff since The Bad Batch, which was the show that made me realize I don't actually like Dave Filoni's work.
I've completely migrated over to Legends (which I consider canon), and so now I luckily have a goldmine of good SW stories that'll last me decades with how much there is. I feel bad, though, for older fans who'd already experienced all of Legends and are now starved of quality content in the present day.
Ewoks were originally supposed to be Wookies. However, they changed it for the younger audience. It was more of a funny spoof than anything.
Well, what is entertainment for? To temporarily forget your current problems and be engrossed in someone else's for an hour or two. I don't wish to be bombarded with someone else's political agenda during what I consider to be the greatest movie of all time. Maybe it isn't what I perceive. Maybe Disney just wishes to balance the number of female characters with male characters. However, if Mr. Lucas wanted that, he would have written it that way from the beginning. With more female characters throughout.
Yes, this post may be quite late, however, Mr. Lucas had planned for 7, 8, 9 to have a female lead in the form of Kira (Name later changed to Rey). The film would also feature a villainess, so one could say he did originally intend for more female characters. (I always prefer to research my topics before engaging in conversation, and I would link any sites and videos if the mods allow it.)
I believe the right diagnosis for your problem is that neither the men or women characters are portrayed as equals in the new films. Disney has a bit of a surface level quality, where we have the ingredients but no rich seasoning to make it really flavorful. Force Awakens was as in George's words "a retro film", and TLJ seemed to be experimental, but their execution even by many TLJ fan's standards was a bit flawed. I could think of numerous ways one could keep Luke's arc, while not completely making him an angry "get off my lawn" type character.
I doubt that this post will ever be read, but on the slight chance it does, I'm happy to speak further on the issue. (And with any passersbys who are reading along this fascinating discussion.)
I remember hearing that George originally wanted to make a sequel trilogy right after the OT, but he couldn't afford to make another three movies in the '80s, so stuff that would've been in those sequels was salvaged and adapted into ROTJ (Leia being Luke's sister instead of Kira, Palpatine appearing in the flesh as the villain, etc).
Kira was adapted/referenced in The Old Republic as the character of Kira Carsen, I believe.

Cool.
If the original Script for Rise of Skywalker is in fact true, I hope someone can make at least an animatic of it. I suppose fan films can retool the groundwork laid by the new cannon.

Ey, Rogue One is my jam. Mr. Filoni has a bit of a rocky track record. Added some cool lore...ruined my guy Quinlan Vos.
I once wrote a fan film about the aftermath of Order 66 through the eyes of everyday citizens of Coruscant, exploring how much of an upheaval it was to both Jedi Sympathizers and Dissidents. From what I've seen, though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, when I heard Bad Batch would be covering the Clone's reaction right after the aftermath, I was expecting more a shocker, I'm surprised at how much the atmosphere seemed to shrug it off. At least it appears they might be rectifying the problem presented with the inhibitor chips.
Legends fan, eh? Explored the absolutely cool, but utterly bonkers, Tales of the Jedi comics yet? (shameless plug, Master Thon da coolest...)

Yeah, I do like Rogue One.
Not to mention Grievous.
That sounds cool. In my opinion The Bad Batch kinda made the inhibitor chip retcon even worse, since when Wrecker's chip temporarily activated, he became just a generic robotic-acting bad guy, which I think goes against Star Wars' theme that falling to the Dark Side (which is supposed to represent evil in general) is always a conscious choice.
Oh yeah, Tales of the Jedi is probably my third favorite Star Wars comic, after Legacy and Jango Fett: Open Seasons.

Perfect analysis.
I can kind of see the wild exploration of new concepts from Legends comics seep its way through with things like Ezra's lightsaber/ blaster combo. It reminded me the interesting addition to Legend's lore of force-imbued swords or retro-sabers.
I know the Obi-Wan show seemed to rush through its story for the sake of the "Big" battle between Vader and Obi-Wan, and that Reva and Leia acted much like excuses to get the plot going, however, Reva's story of survival is another missed opportunity that reminded me of something from Legends canon.
In Legends there existed a Sith warrior whose entire body was held together only by pure hatred for his enemies. Reva's hatred might have allowed her to survive to, and exploring the idea from that angle would have been awesome.
Jango Fett: Open Seasons *chef kiss* Shout out to my favorite Mando'ade Jaster Mereel. Speaking of ties to a video game and our discussion of the Bad Batch, have you had the chance to explore the world of the Republic Commando game?

Yeah, I got that game recently, but I'm stuck on the level where the team has to escape the Geonosian ship before it blows up.

Welp, I suppose I can recommend no commentary walkthroughs. I just started the game as well and am on the level after the Commandos stop Sun Fac from escaping on his ship.
