Made the most sense for Disney to get Star Wars. Because of Star Tours at Disney World and the Star Wars Weekends at Disney World. I think there was already a business partnership between Disney and Lucasfilm anyways. Besides the Dark side now has Disney World and cookies.

Who thinks the new Solo film will be serious with comedy elements or full on comedy. I hope its the first suggestion but Im worried it will be the second mainly cos the directors though they're great like their humour a lot.

I'm getting a Guardians of the Galaxy-like tone from the movie, because it will probably be very sci-fi heavy, and the directors directed The LEGO Movie, which has pretty much the same plot as Guardians of the Galaxy.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.
May I remind you that EWOKS BEAT UP STORMTROOPERS. So this isn't Disney's doing. If Ewoks did it, of course a human adult can do it. Stormtroopers have never made complete sense.
Also, in reponse to your initial post, what's wrong with being Politically Correct? All it does is make the characters more realistic.
Ewoks were originally supposed to be Wookies. However, they changed it for the younger audience. It was more of a funny spoof than anything.
Well, what is entertainment for? To temporarily forget your current problems and be engrossed in someone else's for an hour or two. I don't wish to be bombarded with someone else's political agenda during what I consider to be the greatest movie of all time. Maybe it isn't what I perceive. Maybe Disney just wishes to balance the number of female characters with male characters. However, if Mr. Lucas wanted that, he would have written it that way from the beginning. With more female characters throughout.
Yes, this post may be quite late, however, Mr. Lucas had planned for 7, 8, 9 to have a female lead in the form of Kira (Name later changed to Rey). The film would also feature a villainess, so one could say he did originally intend for more female characters. (I always prefer to research my topics before engaging in conversation, and I would link any sites and videos if the mods allow it.)
I believe the right diagnosis for your problem is that neither the men or women characters are portrayed as equals in the new films. Disney has a bit of a surface level quality, where we have the ingredients but no rich seasoning to make it really flavorful. Force Awakens was as in George's words "a retro film", and TLJ seemed to be experimental, but their execution even by many TLJ fan's standards was a bit flawed. I could think of numerous ways one could keep Luke's arc, while not completely making him an angry "get off my lawn" type character.
I doubt that this post will ever be read, but on the slight chance it does, I'm happy to speak further on the issue. (And with any passersbys who are reading along this fascinating discussion.)
