I didn't think she was believable at all. 0 training and she is already mind tricking a stormtrooper and summoning lightsabers. It took Luke a LONG time before he could ever summon anything with the Force. She just gets Force powrs willy nilly. How is that believable?
The force works in mysterious ways?
Hardy har har. Still, Rey is totally not believable. Jyn isn't believable by how she could whip Stormtroopers in hand to hand combat, whilst they are in full armor, with a stick. The blind guy's stick fight scene was semi-believable because he was DELIBERATELY attempting to harness the Force.

May I remind you that EWOKS BEAT UP STORMTROOPERS. So this isn't Disney's doing. If Ewoks did it, of course a human adult can do it. Stormtroopers have never made complete sense.
Also, in reponse to your initial post, what's wrong with being Politically Correct? All it does is make the characters more realistic.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.
Rey is not an attempt on Disney's part to appeal to a specific (and small) demographic. She's a believable character, not excessively strong or weak.

Luke guided the proton torpedo to the Death Star and Force-grabbed a lightsaber with zero true Jedi training. People are so worked up over everything that they fail to notice this kind of stuff isn't new, with this, and the Stormtrooper one.

Political correctness couldn't make the characters more realistic because political correctness itself is unrealistic.

Ewoks were originally supposed to be Wookies. However, they changed it for the younger audience. It was more of a funny spoof than anything.
Well, what is entertainment for? To temporarily forget your current problems and be engrossed in someone else's for an hour or two. I don't wish to be bombarded with someone else's political agenda during what I consider to be the greatest movie of all time. Maybe it isn't what I perceive. Maybe Disney just wishes to balance the number of female characters with male characters. However, if Mr. Lucas wanted that, he would have written it that way from the beginning. With more female characters throughout.

Well, it can be when taken to the extremes, but the level at which Disney did it in TFA and RO was fine.
Especially because HALF THE POPULATION IS WOMEN! So how is Rey unrealistic?

That isn't what ended up happening, so it doesn't prove anything. How is it a spoof if it happened in the movie? And Star Wars is still made to appeal to kids, may I remind you.
How exactly does seeing characters that aren't white straight males detract from your enjoyment of the movie? If anything, it makes me enjoy it more to see different looking people get recognition. Even if it was entirely to be politically correct, this is the Star Wars universe, where different ethnicities and genders can be more or less common, because this isn't real life.

The fight scene with Kylo and Rey was what convinced me that Rey was unrealistic as a character. First, Kylo was physically stronger than her. Second, he had years of Force training on her. She was a completely inexperienced fighter.
You could easily say that HALF THE POPULATIONS IS MEN! Doesn't mean anything except that there is an equal amount of men and women on the Earth. Also, that statistic only applies on Real Life Earth.
Seriously, first she's some scavenger on Jakku and then she runs from a Tie Fighter with Finn. Then she meets up with Han and Chewy in space. She runs from a monster and times a door to shut and cut off that creature's limb. Then they make it to the creepy new female version of Yoda (I forgot her name) and she runs again. She shoots a few Storm Troopers (but anyone in the SW universe can do that ) but, when she meets Kylo, he just uses the Force on her and captures her. Later, without ever even hearing about what a mind trick is, she uses one on a Stormtrooper. Even Luke could only do that after he had some what progressed in his Jedi skills with Jabba. And finally, she meets Kylo and somehow overpowers him physically and through the Force. The writers wrote it so Kylo lost no matter what, but he could have easily taken her down if one thinks about it logically. That is what makes her unrealistic to me. And unless you can somehow explain away all those basic SW principles that were violated by Rey, I will continue to believe that Rey is unrealistic and only motivated by PC agenda.

Yeah, I was just saying it wasn't a realistic thing either. SW is normally pretty good about keeping things semi believable. That's what makes it great. The Ewok thing was an exception though.
Did I ever say that seeing other characters that are white straight males detract from my enjoyment of the movie? I too enjoy different people getting recognition... if they actually earn it. Rey did not. My other post explains that clearly.
The SW is supposed to be separate from this world. Not conveying it's perverted agenda. If Rey had been believable, I would have NO problem with her whatsoever.

Hm, that's weird. I know I responded to this. Must be stuck in moderation or something.
Anyway, here's what I said:
Luke never guided the missiles with the Force. He used the Force to help him AIM them accurately with Kenobi's guidance. And, it took Luke almost FOREVER to grab the lightsaber when it took Rey two seconds. He had still had some Force training with Kenobi, so he knew what his ultimate goal. When Rey mind tricked the Storm trooper, she had never even heard of a "mind trick" before. At least I don't remember her ever hearing about it.

Regarding your first post Luke was slowly being mentored by a Jedi MASTER himself. He was also the "Chosen one" as implied by the prequels. Remember, the prequels were made to answer people's questions about these thing. It makes better sense to me than someone who's had zero Jedi/Force training other than from a bunch of "non" Jedi characters. Then, before Luke could defeat any Siths, or even battle them, he trained with Yoda himself the Grand Jedi Master (and he has trained Jedi for hundreds of years!!!) Luke lost his hand in an encounter with a sith which showed he hadn't completely mastered the art of the Jedi.
One more thing, Luke was only able to blow up the death star with Obi-Wan's guidance.
I think Luke "aimed" the missiles. He didn't "guide" them.
I was an avid reader on the MBs and not a user. You will not recognize me but I will recognize you...

Actually, Rey is probably physically stronger than Kylo, since she has been scavenging most of her life, which has forced her to becomw very physically fit.
And Kylo was not at his best during that fight, he had been shot by Chewie and he just smashed his dad, I doubt it was the perfect time for him to fight. I think it is very realistic that he lost the fight to someone with little training when he was injured physically and emotionally. And Rey proved she was good with melee weapons earlier in the film, so no, she wasn't just suddenly good. So yes, the fight is realistic in my eyes
And the humans in the Star Wars universe truly are humans, which they are, then there is actually a 50% chance of being male or female, and since they are called humans in every Star Wars media, then yes, it is 50/50.
