Moria shall stand with it's Allies. (Or else leech from it's allies as it fights the War of Osgiliath at the High Pass. I mean, It's inevitable because their are two Sub-HQ's that are quite close, and Goblin Town has 2 openings: The Carrock (should be the normal region, not the HQ) and the High Pass. )
So. . . Who's ready to fight an Unending battle in two locations? Isengard will help (most likely, I'll send a small-to-large contingent up to assist) plus we'll have Moria/Goblin Town, so we just need around 10,000 More to win each time.
On another note, How many Isengard and Wild Men Troops am I getting? CC?
You'll be granted a small force to be used in regions where I deem them important to be.
Seriousely!? You're going to control My every little move with Isengardian troops? come on! On a second note, The High Pass is one of the strategically important region. If we control Redhorn, The Gap, The High Pass and I believe Forochel (Or is it Forodwaith?), then Bree is completely cut off from the rest of the RP. The Redhorn is practically already under Morian Control (Nothing is as close, much less closer) and the Gap would be pretty easy for Isengard to take, and I believe is in between Isengard and Wild Men. Meaning that their are only 2 regions to control that aren't easy to start with, and the High Pass is the one more in danger (as mentioned by Gandalf, Forochel is too far south for anything to really be their.) third not, How many exactly? I want to start planning out my army is why. If you want, I can give you my ideas of (some presumably) troops for Isengard.
Tul Generas of the Orcs, Darthraxx of the dragon Knights. I RP, and have lots of fun.
Guys, I must tell you some great news!!! Hopefully the Third Age Roleplay sub-forum will be up soon, as long a Keplers remembers
With this happening, we need to delegate out who is posting what region. Obviously leaders will post their own HQs and Subs but we need to sort out the other 64ish regions and leaderless HQs. If someone has a full list of regions they can post it would be handy
OK, after watching some YouTube videos, rewatching the movies, and spending about an hour putting this together in my mind, I think I am ready to talk about this subject, hopefully for the last time. (sorry for the ginormous post this is and the later ones that will happen in advance Mods.)
About the Armor of Trolls:
OK, so the First point is Troll Skin. All of this will either be IRL information, or from the movies, as the book does not state anything about this subject. Now, let's look at the two big parts of the Trolls in the movies, Cave Trolls and Mordor Trolls. So, Cave Trolls, Against Axes, Swords and Arrows. Axes worked just fine for their size, and swords made decent sized cuts as well. However, Arrows and the Javelin both had a bit of a problem. The Arrows were barely even noticed, except for the ones shot from the head, and the one shot into the one place without skin, the mouth. The Head was not effective, it merely hurt. While this did hurt, it really just made the troll mad. Javelins were similar, although it wasn't really meant for throwing, the one that Aragorn threw. He did it, but it was too long for a proper spear, and it failed to peirce much further than the arrows. It did something similar to the arrows at the top of the head, and that it it. For the Mordorian trolls, we see them taking dozens of arrows in the neck, armits and essentially anywhere where their armor isn't their (this will come into play later) and still surviving. We did see one troll fall by arrows, but it was one out of a dozen or so. Now, lets go inside. Mordor Trolls DID fall by the javelins and spears used by the gondorians, implying that they are weaker than the Cave Troll. So, my first point is that their is Canon evidence that troll skin is immune to being smashed by arrows.
Second Point, is Armor. this gets more into IRL information, which came from the YouTube Videos. First off, plate armor (the majority of a Heavily Armored Trolls armor) is, IRL, almost impossible to get almost anything through. A Troll would have a much larger plate, and so would be immune. Now, their is still the Neck, and the Armpits and so forth. However, IRL, chain mail and leather/cloth was protecting these locations. And considering how the Leather/Cloth layer could often stop a sharp sword blade, it is essentially even easier to say that. Oh and this point is not mute because of Canon showing trolls without proper armor, because that Movies give HUMANS improper armor, so what do you think they'll do to a non-human character with armor?
Now, I understand that their is a need for Weaknesses of trolls. Which why I understand that Lances, Javelins and Siege Weapons all need to be able to smash a troll. However, I used the examples of Javelins failing to hopefully, FINALLY get people to admit that arrows would not destroy my Heavily Armored Trolls. And that thrown Javelins are not the best weapon against them, because they are projectiles and as such will not have a force pushing it past the skin.
Thank you for your time, I've been annoyed at this ever since. . . Anorien was about the first time I used the Trolls actually. So Anorien. Had them all the time, but Anorien was the only time they caused problems or were even used mostly.
I was also watching the movies on YT last night. And in the BOFA, when Thorin and the dwarves charge, there is Trolls. Which are smashed before the dwarves reach them. Only explanation, crossbows and bows, or maybe javelins. The trolls just melt under the missile fire. This PROVES how weak trolls are to missiles.
Heeeyyyy, I remember you! xD Pretty good, though school has been difficult recently. I'll survive, though. I believe is was 2ic at Isengard at one point. The 1ic wasn't that active, so I practically led two HQs. Sadly, I think we'll still be on opposite sides. I'd like to take over Mirkwood, seeing as it has no leader and I've wanted to change sides. Although I'd like to know, Lorien is much closer to Dol Guldur than it is to Mirkwood. Suppose I do lead Mirkwood - would I automatically have Lorien, or would I have to take it like any other region? Because it seems like Dol Guldur or some other place would be able to take it faster than I could. And since I've never led an elven HQ, is the normal elven value 1.3 MWE? And would the same apply for Lorien?
You will have to claim it, and trust me I've got the same concerns. I'm leading Moria, and I'm closer to Rivendell (Bree's Sub HQ) and we're equal distances away from the High Pass and my Sub-HQ of Goblin Town. If push comes to shove, I'm probably going to trade Rivendell for the Goblin HQ, and then push my way out. I'm 2ic of Isengard in this RP, and I believe EmeraldEddie is 3ic (might not be him, but their already is one.)
Okay, I've decided on joining this RP after all. I'd prefer joining as a 2ic somewhere, but if y'all are in desperate need of a 1ic for lack of other players, I'll concede. Also, I'd prefer being with good for a change.
And if anyone would like to give me a list of the basics here, I'd appreciate it. Not everything - if it follows the rules of the old RP, I already know them. Just what's unique to this RP. Thanks!
And for those of you who don't know me, I'm Rex. I lead the Mordor HQ in 2013, I believe, and was pretty inexperienced at that point. Then later on I lead the Umbar HQ, where I really started getting the hang of things. If you're interested, my empire at one point went from Tolfalas, most of southern Gondor, up north to Enedwaith, and, as EE mentioned a while ago, I continuously ravaged the Grey Havens. I never won any massive victories, but a highlight of my career was definitely fighting for my life in the great battle of Osgiliath, as I'm sure some still remember. So you could say I know my fair share of things. I'm very eager to try out this new RP and meet some of you new people.
In the words of my favorite Youtuber "Mae Gavonion Mellyn nin and well met indeed my friends"
Hi rex! I'm glad your finally here!
I'm not going to reply to everything since others all ready have. But I'm glad to have you as my HQ leader. (I'm the only other member in Mirkwood.)
MM, I'm fairly certain Sub HQs start out with 10,000 MWE
What do you mean? None of the Sub HQ's are automatically claimed as far as I know.
That's something that we never actually discussed. Seeing as how each sub-HQ is tied to a specific HQ, I was under the impression that they would start under the control of the parent-HQ. Canonically, the natural state of each one of these realms is (more or less) with its allegiance to the realm which is its parent-HQ. Then seeing as how each of these subs are in effect their own HQs (just under the control of a larger HQ), in seems odd that they might start out essentially inactive.
Are we OK with The Carrock being the beornings HQ, and the region being The Upper Vales of the Anduin?
That seems good, though I personally prefer the region part being the called the Wilderland. Just make sure you separate the Carrock and a little land to the east as its own little bubble for the HQ (and if possible, maybe connect to the Gladden Fields and Vales of the Anduin, so that it isn't fully surrounded by a single region). Also, while you're editing the map, maybe separate Isengard and Fangorn a little, along with Moria and Redhorn (just put a slight gap between them, to indicate that one actually can't move directly from one of these locations to the other, as is canonical).
Anfalas Andrast Tolfalas Crossings of Poros Harondor
Each HQ has been assigned their Leader as well. We still need a Mirkwood and Rhun leader.
Those are the regions I'll post
Sounds fine.
But also (to everyone), can we all try to make these topics fit a certain format for the first post? I mean, it's not really that big of an issue, but it drives me nuts to see the first post of a topic (especially the topic name itself) be poorly done. Especially seeing HQ names be misspelled, lacking capitalization and punctuation, and sometimes even lacking where the HQ is. And I think it would be useful to have the start of each topic be more or less the same, having basic information such as bordering regions, its sub-HQ, etc.

So the HQ is going to be just east of the Carrock?
That works, though I would have put it between the Carrock and the Gladen Fields.
The Carrock ~ Beornings Sub HQ Dale ~ Bardings HQ; Leader: 8legos Esgorath Celduin Gladden Fields Vale of the Anduin Central Mirkwood West Rhovanion East Rhovanion South Rhovanion Dorwinion Brown Lands Dagorlad
