The live action Cinderella and live action beauty and the beast were great movies because it added some new characters and answered some questions for example-
What happened to belle's mother
the beast's real name
What happened to Cinderella 's mother and How she got the name Cinderella
be our guest was better in the animation version because the song is so iconic
{JAMMERS! -bun02- ONLY!} Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I was afraid what I'd find in those jammers. Ah, I'm glad you agree. Hopefully such things won't be found in future Disney films....
But on a happier note, what do you think the new Mulan will be like?
{JAMMERS! -RomeNZ- ONLY!)} I'm just as guilty of not replying; much more, actually. Yeah, it was a drawback for me and hopefully nothing more will be found in future movies.
Ooh, I think it'll be cool. Like NZF said earlier, they'll have to be careful because there are a lot of battle scenes, and considering the aspect of the film is kinda dark already (when you think about it), I don't know how much darker they should try to make it. But I'm sure they'll find the perfect balance between action and humor, as they always do. What are your thoughts?
{JAMMERS! -bun02- ONLY!} Oh, that's alright. I have the same problem.
Yeah, that's what me and my sister thought, too. Indeed it will most likely turn out dark, but no darker than the new Beauty and the Beast I should think (although I haven't seen it, it just looks dark.) But hey, it's Disney: the master of turning heavy subjects into lighthearted entertainment. (The Hunchback of Notre Dame for example.)

Is be our guest from Beauty and the Beast? I have not watched that movie... (At least that I remember)
Honestly I'd personally say live-action remakes kinda started with The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) and I kinda count Maleficent as one of them too (Although I've never and don't want to see that movie actually XD) But eh it's very debatable xD Here's my ranks cuz' why not.
Alice in Wonderland - Err.. I've never seen it or the sequel (or the original movie) but I uh, don't really want to actually, Alice in Wonderland-ish stuff just isn't really my thing usually.
Cinderella - Loved it and I actually really enjoyed the changes. Also I NEED the blue dress xD
The Jungle Book - Haven't seen it but I probably will at some point. I actually haven't really seen the original I don't think? Not because I hate it, I just haven't really any reason to. (Probably will at some point because I'm massive Disney fan and this seems kind of necessary) I think I saw the sequel or something though. Not sure..
Beauty and The Beast - Haven't seen it yet but I don't really have high hopes.
Mulan - I'm really excited for this if they do it right. I have a lot of concerns. Like how on earth they're going to make sure it's not too dark and violent to become a PG-13 rating. (It's about a war and some parts of the original are pretty dark if you think about it.) I'd still see it with a PG-13 rating but it'd be questionable for a Disney movie remake. I also hope Mushu is still funny and looks pretty much the same (although they'd have to make him a bit different) but IDK if they'd get his voice actor back and that's kind of really important to his character. But regardless I'm excited to see what they do with it. Mulan is one of my favorite Disney movies sooo xD
Aladdin - Again, if they do it right it should be great. Though they have to be careful (IMO) because sometimes the original was kind of... Annoying to me. Like Aladdin could have just told Jasmine. I know that's like the moral of the story but eh. I'm not saying it's a bad movie, I like it, but it's not my favorite. I just hope they're careful with the live-action that's all and I have no idea what's hope with this whole "Prince Anders" thing though, IDK if anyone has heard about that though and IDK if we can really talk about it xD But I'm still excited to see what they could do with the live-action remake. Especially with like "A Whole New World" that could be awesome.
The Lion King - I feel like a broken record, but if it's done correctly? It could be amazing. The Lion King is awesome and if they take it and don't make too many changes (or I hope they make good changes if they need to make changes) then it's going to be great. Funnily enough when I first saw trailers for live action The Jungle Book and stuff I'm pretty sure I was like "Oh my gosh could you imagine if they did Lion King like this?!!?" So I'm pretty hyped.
(Sorry for the text wall xD)
Yeah, Maleficent could be considered a remake, although I kinda consider it not to be since they changed the characters' point of view and everything.
Oooh, you need to see Alice in Wonderland, at the very least just the 2010 movie. I was so obsessed with it once, and it still stands as my second favorite Disney movie. I mean, I guess if Wonderland stuff isn't really your thing that's understandable--I've always been pretty into Alice in Wonderland type of stuff so it's not a shocker that I like it... But still, it's a great movie.
Cinderella's dress is something we all need. Except I would probably prefer it in pink.
Yeah, I haven't seen the original Jungle Book in a while, but the live-action is one of my favorites. You should give it a try.
Beauty and the Beast was good...it's just...I would never choose it over the original. But it's still totally worth watching, especially if you're a fan of the original.
True, Mulan could very easily be turned too dark. The trend seems to be to remake all the movies in a darker version than the originals especially with Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent and I like that idea, but yeah, Mulan is one they'll have to be careful with. And if they change Mushu too much I will NOT be happy because he's my favorite Disney sidekick. But still, it'll be very interesting.
Yeah, Aladdin's not one of my personal favorites but it's still very funny and a great story. I think this one's gonna be pretty cool. I'm just really interested how they're gonna animate Genie I've never heard about the Prince Anders thing though...not sure who he is.
Yes, if they do it right, it will be absolutely amazing. I mean, I know they have to make changes to all the movies in order for a remake, but I just don't want them to change The Lion King. At least not much. And I remember thinking the same thing! Actually I think that's the first thing I thought... But yeah, I'm very excited.
*shrug* It's kinda like a AU remake in a way from what I understand yeah so IDK
That's fair but yeah Wonderland's just not really my thing usually (I say usually because I'm actually okay with Ever After High's version of Wonderland soo )
Pink would be pretty! Though pretty much any color would be great xD
Yeah I hope to at some point ^_^
I've actually seen the Beauty and the Beast remake now since this xD It was much better than I expected but I wasn't fond ofa few things and some of the acting, but besides that it was pretty good
Yeah, I mean I don't think I care if it's a bit more dark and intense I just wonder how they're going to find the right balance of darker moments and lighter moments, especially as Mushu is basically what provides most of the lighter moments in the original and we're not sure what they're doing with Mushu yet.
Yeah I'm really interested to see what they do with it (Good point, I didn't think about that. But considering what they're able to do with CGI nowadays it should be interesting XD) Oi, it's kind of a questionable race-related addition that Disney is making, I'd say more but it's kinda political-based in a way so IDK how much I can say xD
Yeah I really hope they don't change The Lion King much. I don't think it needs to be changed much. The older films that are remade do need a bit of updating here and there maybe but not really The Lion King. And right?! XD I actually thought it again when I was watching Beauty and the Beast and the wolves were animated great xD I'm like "THE LION KING IS GONNA SO GOOD LIKE THIS!" XD

Actually The Beast's real name, Prince Adam was known throughout the Disney community before the live-action movie. But not mentioned in the original anywhere I don't think.

For The Lion King I believe they would make it like The Jungle Book... CGI and whatnot.

To be honest -- as much as I can respect modern film-makers wanting to revive classics in a new, more realistic, visually stunning form, I have to point out the simple fact that they're just that: classics. I feel that the spirit and charm of the originals lie in their original format, and that there is a certain amount of innocence and fun that gets lost when you take a film that was originally a children's fairy-tale turned animated movie into a shaky-cam addled high-budget live action experience. If you take the Jungle Book for example -- it's fun, it's innocent, it's adventurous in its original format. Put on the lens of live-action and everything is a bit more... scary. It's like going on an extreme rollercoaster after having just gone down a relaxing lazy river -- both of which happen to have the same name and basic story. Now admittedly, this sort of comparison doesn't really translate as much over to movies like Cinderella and Beauty & the Beast, but still, there is a certain light-heartedness that is nonetheless lost when everything is portrayed with realistic lighting and real actors as opposed to hand-drawn cartoons.
Those are just my thoughts. I haven't seen the movies, so I can only provide what my first impressions were when I saw the trailers and such, so forgive me for butting in without having actually seen them in theatres but still, I think there is something to be said for rabid purism.

I think the old Disney movies were animated cartoons; hand drawn cartoons probably would have taken a very very long time... But yes I agree how the old Disney movies are classics and they should stay that way. Disney does not need to remake every Disney classic movie as a live-action movie...

Bambi the Live Action Remake!!! New from Disney!!!
I don't even want to imagine how upsetting it would be to see a very realistic cgi bird get shot dead out of the sky after visibly getting distressed and going mad right before our eyes -- because it was already pretty disturbing for a kid's cartoon to begin with.

What's Bambi? I don't remember watching it...
It's the perfectly innocent and not at all disturbing tale of a young fawn who's mother is killed by hunters, and has to grow up by herself with her animal friends (all the while growing out a sick pair of antlers... I think?) Eventually, when the hunters come back, Bambi is an adult, and she's able to save (most) of her friends, except for one bird who graphically panicked and flew straight up into the sky, making her an easy target for... ahem... the hunters.
The movie ends with Bambi giving birth to another fawn in, confusingly enough, the EXACT same manner her mother gave birth to her. Leading us to believe the cycle will repeat
My memory of the movie is really hazy however so I only remember a couple of the key moments.

Bambi is a guy, and no he does not give birth. I think it's time for you to go rewatch this one...
