We didn't do much for the 4th but I enjoyed the time off work. If not the fireworks going off at night.
I believe it's under the profile tab somewhere.. Poke around and you should find it.
To get an avatar you need to message a moderator with the picture that you want. I think any of the moderators can do it now, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I suppose we just need to give it time. Unfortunately the loss of the community will always be a side-effect of any stagnant website, and all we can hope for is that they come back soon.
