I talked to customer service. They said they weren't sure what's going on (and I didn't expect them to since the technical details of the LEGO.com are probably beyond them) but they said they'll report it to the tech team about it. I wouldn't get worried too much over them shutting it down, yet.
When they really shut down the galleries, maybe we must start our own gallery.
That's a bit harder than a message board.
Flickr is a very good fairly safe alternative which I an some other former lego gallery users use. Its also very professional an its system links you up with great groups an users who have similar interests to you. Its also very active.
Would it be practical if we share our thoughts by mail?
I can't really afford web hosting right now because I'm trying to save up for a car, but if I do start hosting my own Gallery, you'll be the first to know!
Create a group on Flickr or join one of the many current ones.

I could make a Flickr account but can you post LXF files on Flickr?

It's been down for something like two weeks now. I kind of doubt they plan on reviving it..

So I've heard. I just think it would be nice to have our own site. I mean, the MB community could've moved to a public forum, but having this website is much nicer.
I wasn't planning on using Wordpress hosting, just the software. I've worked with it before and I like the array of plugins that are available. Do you know of any good web hosting companies? I think we're going to need a lot of storage..
Ah right. Yes, they'd very useful. I'm looking into it, I'll give you my verdict either tonight or tomorrow. I'm currently building a computer, and as it is a continually upgradable project we may be able to use it. Also it might be worth getting a place to discuss our ideas better.
I thought about hosting the site myself too, but I'd be worried about not being able to have it up all the time. Besides, my internet is horrible.

It has been quite a while. I'll just wait until further information.

Koolkanin is here, maybe some info from Koolkanin?
I'm a bitt on both sides, tech problem and closed.
You can still post and when the LUCL closed that wasn't possible anymore.
On the other hand, two weeks for maintenance????
Looks like every mod just walked out and nobody returned.
Maybe koolkanin would know. It is strange how two weeks passed and still no progression with the gallery. Either the technical problem is really bad, or they really did leave the galleries alone. I can't really assume anything, but I might check back with Customer Service again later.
I've seen. Fortunately, though, it seems to be confined to the main Gallery - I've just been on the SWG, and stuff has come through in the last 24 hours. Odd...
