Was it about how much it would cost to have your foot repaired after stepping on a LEGO?
No . The final question (10-mark essay) was about weighing up the advantages and disadvantages of LEGO's recent growth for consumers. So customers get a wider range, can buy in more countries and possibly cheaper prices (economies of scale), but there's a possibility that LEGO becomes a monopoly and starts exploiting customers (not going to happen in my opinion given LEGO's ethics ). I also made the point that as a company gets bigger, customer service often suffers, but I added at the end "LEGO is renowned for good customer service". After all, one of my MINDSTORMS motors broke and they asked me to send it to them freepost. Within a few days, they had sent me a brand new one !
Was this using real data or was it made up for the assignment?
Either way it sounds like an interesting class. I'll be taking economics next school year.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.

Usually it is real data in the exam papers. The article said that in 2003, LEGO was under crisis, but they experienced huge growth later on with new products (they mentioned Ninjago and The Lego Movie).
The funny thing is that our teacher predicted that one of the questions would be "What are the effects of a weak Pound on UK businesses" because that's what was experienced at the time the paper was written. Instead, we got the opposite question !

You there mate?SaveSave
Yes. I sort of just disappeared but I do check back here occasionally.
Unfortunately, the LEGO MINDSTORMS official community has really gone downhill - there are now very few active users . I'm still building loads though.

Cool.
I've seen. Not many people left. Most of them are too old and busy with other stuff and others have just lost interest. Cool.
BTW We got a new car. A Vauxhall Zafira I think. I don't like it much though.SaveSave

Yeah minivans can be quite hard to love. Most of them are pretty ugly (Fiat Multipla, SsangYong Rodius, virtually everything French). The Zafira is probably one of the less-offensive ones in my opinion.
Meanwhile I might be learning to drive soon! Let's hope I drive better in real life than I do on the Xbox...

I agree. BTW I'm gonna post a Lego version of the Porsche 718 Cayman on the windstorms gallery soon.
Wow! Good luck with that mate. What kind of car?SaveSave

Nice! I've got three(!) WIPs right now. One is nearly complete, one is just a rear axle and one is just a front axle.
I can tell you that all of the real-life cars are between 2.5 and 3.5 litres. Between the three of them, there are 22 cylinders and 4 turbochargers.
I don't have an instructor yet so who knows? But if I do supervised practice, it'd be in my parents' Golf Mk7 1.6 TDI because it's a manual. If you learn and do the test in an auto, your license is restricted to automatic cars only, and most small cars are manual (especially used ones).
