You know that most of the stuff they teach you in public school won't be applied to your real life, like, ever, right?
Depends. As a future mechanical engineer, quite a lot of it will apply to my future life. Sure, some stuff is completely irrelevant *cough* Literature *cough*, but I think I learned loads from my Business and Economics class. I can actually understand most of the financial news now .
Either way, most of the stuff is quite unnecessary. Some stuff, like you said, works, but that's what college is for.
Please can we stop bashing public school and homeschool. Both have their pros and cons and will suit different people best. Remember that this is a public schoolers' chatroom - homeschoolers have their own chatroom. I'm not against a little mixing, but it's getting annoying.
Hey, you copied us.
But still, good point. I'm going back to the HH. C U!

*Looks for the MODERATOR icon but doesn't see it*
Wow, well stated.
Ignore everything I say, to the best of your ability.

Well, I was a Community Helper on the old LMBs ...
I just had my Economics GCSE exam today and you'll never guess what came up on the paper. At the end there was a 20-mark section with LEGO as the focus ! That bit was easy peasy for me... until I got to the part where I had to criticise it .

Was it about how much it would cost to have your foot repaired after stepping on a LEGO?

It's easy to criticize LEGO. All you have to do is step on one.

No . The final question (10-mark essay) was about weighing up the advantages and disadvantages of LEGO's recent growth for consumers. So customers get a wider range, can buy in more countries and possibly cheaper prices (economies of scale), but there's a possibility that LEGO becomes a monopoly and starts exploiting customers (not going to happen in my opinion given LEGO's ethics ). I also made the point that as a company gets bigger, customer service often suffers, but I added at the end "LEGO is renowned for good customer service". After all, one of my MINDSTORMS motors broke and they asked me to send it to them freepost. Within a few days, they had sent me a brand new one !
At least we have access to proper learning resources.
So do we.... plus I interact with other people my age all the time in Boy Scouts and church activities. I'm not gonna start chatting here, since I'm not a public schooler, but I just wanted to say that. I will leave now.
