What will LEGO be like 33 years from now? Will LEGo bricks have electric circuits in them that make the human mind more creative? Will the entire world forget Bionicle? Or will Bionicle become one of the top 3 biggest franchises in the world.
We all know what PC's are made of. They're made of...um....uh....plastic? I don't know yet. But what if PC's in 2050 could be built with LEGO? What possibilities would it allow?
What do you think the future 33 years from now holds for LEGO? Does LEGO even have a future? Hopefully it does, but hoping is the best we can do right now.
The company will likely be unable to meet the demands of an audience that more and more wants GOOD original content out of LEGO, and the company will likely be forced into a similar position as that of SEGA: playing it safe, and no longe coming out with anything new, or fresh. LEGO will likely rely entirely on licensed products in the future, having failed to come out with a good BIONICLE reboot, not to mention that Ninjago, in a fit of hypocrisy on LEGO's part, will likely last longer than BIONICLE EVER did. Nexo Knights will probably face a similar fate to that of Chima's, being unable to create a good villain with actual motivations will take its toll on any story.
Just another quick note: as long as Disney exists, continues to exist, and continues to allow LEGO to make products based on Disney's IPs, LEGO will likely be able to hang on like a leech, and be able to continue selling Star Wars and Disney sets, all the while neglecting to make good original content.
What the company needs to do at this point, is to ensure it doesn't lose itself, and to actively take steps towards a PROPER CCBS theme, and to also take steps towards a good story driven brick-based theme of which teenagers will be able to not scoff at it.

and bring back a good adventure theme!
I can't believe I had the same awful signature for nearly 8 years. Sorry for disappearing for 2 months, life happened for a bit.

Better yet -- bring back that... one guy... ugh, with the hat, and the moustache... what was his name again? XD
Looking at the ways things are going now, pretty awesome. The sets will be loaded with tons of features, the minifigures will be amazingly detailed, there will be more products from movies and other franchises, and the sets will be even more expensive.
There's a chance that by that time, Lego might have added extra joints to the classic minifigure, but the minifigure is such an iconic part of Lego, I have a hard time imagining that.
There will also be a lot more things like Lego Mindstorms and Lego Boost.
Themes I expect to stand: Creator City Friends Star Wars
I think by that time Ninjago will finally be over, to my dismay.
Oh, and to answer those Bionicle questions, Bionicle might return once or twice from now, but in 50 years it will be something the long-time Lego fans discuss.

I wholeheartedly agree.
And it seems LEGO will not stop pumping out products for other peoples ideas for decades to come. With an original theme, you start from the ground up. With a licensed theme, it's already popular, will sell spectacularly, and you don't have to put any effort into it because it's someone else's idea.
LEGO's motto used to be "Just imagine...", but now it's "Only the best is good enough.". And it seems LEGO isn't really following their new motto, since LEGO Life is not even close to "the best", so LEGO shouldn't consider it to be "good enough".
So not only has creativity and effort faded away from LEGO, they've also faded away from their motto. But, oh well, I just made this thread to joke, anyway.

The reboot was an utter commercial failure. And LEGO probably doesn't even know why. I predict that BIONICLE is well and truly dead at this point :/
The fact that LEGO hasn't announced a proper CCBS theme is further proof of this. They probably think the building system is to blame, not their own poor treatment of the theme.

I dunno, fans complain to Lego enough, I'd think they would know by now.
Then again, maybe so; I'm not really a big part of the Bionicle fandom anyway.

LEGO certainly has fallen from grace... BIONICLE was a masterpiece in quality writing, such a shame that they inexplicably changed the way joints were designed in 2008
