Well one of the reasons I was disappointed with season 6 of Ninjago was that they teased a realm-crossing adventure, but did nothing with it. I think a crossover would work if the ninja used the realm crystal to go to other realms, and then went to Chima. The ninja and Chima heroes would have to team up (some people say they would fight, but I don't think that would make sense) to battle an evil threat from another realm.
I don't know who this new villain would be, but he'd have the power to travel through different realms, causing the Chima and Ninjago characters to need to team up and take him down. If Lego did this, the sets would most likely be Ninjago-centric, but I wouldn't mind that, because I love Ninjago too. I'd like to say it could be a movie, but unfortunately I doubt it. If it was a season of Chima, I'd want Laval to be the main character. If it was a season of Ninjago, I'd want Zane to be the main character.
In conclusion, I think a "Chima-Go" crossover would be unlikely but awesome.
How about this villain: Pythor. He could be searching for a place other than Ninjago to conquer, and then run across Lord Vortech (No, I didn't play Dimensions.). Vortech gives Pythor the Realm Crystal, and Pythor must give Vortech an unlimited Chi supply in return.
So Pythor goes realm-hopping, and finds a realm that interweaves all space and time. Pythor raises an army of Anacondrai by going into this realm, and launches his attack on Chima.
The animals of Chima assume that the Anacondrai are a "snake tribe". You see, by having only Serpentine characters visit Chima, the crossover is less silly. Simple as that.
P.S. The pilots are not season 1 and the nonexistant crossover was teased in season 5, not 6.

umm lord Vortech
There we go! It could also tie into Lego Dimensions that way, as a Prequel of sorts to that game.

I actually saw a stopmotion with that story (minus Lord Vortech)!
(Ps) I know, but I thought that the realm crossing was going to happen in season 6.
I guess there's not much else to say about a Chima/Ninjago crossover. However, we can share our ideas for a Chima reboot in the "Ideas for Chima Generation 2" topic. [a]

It's been hinted at by the creator that the Serpentine have their roots in Chima, so it could be show or mentioned (not necessarily by name) in a flashback.

Yeah I mean, that's practically confirmed already, because all the serpentine are evolved and humanoid except for the Great Devorer and that one Anacondrai that was Clouse's pet.

So does that mean there IS a snake tribe in Chima?

No, it means long before time had a name the Serpintene tribes either left to concur new lands or were kicked out of Chima due to their aggressive nature.

Well, the First Spinjitzu master was revealed to have created the serpentine. So my theory is that, after the FSM created them, he used the Realm Crystal to borrow some chi from Chima. Then he returned to Ninjago, and had the serpentine drink the Chi, evolving them. The only ones who didn't drink the chi were the Great Devorer and that one Anacondrai. That's what I think at least.
