Good point, LC. I guess LEGO just wanted to make a safe social network just for kids, as opposed to others such as Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter, which definitely is not safe for kids at all.
Well, you did reach farther than me. I remember the loop editor, though I didn't use it much, kinda wish I did.
Hopefully LEGO or Merlin Entertainment will consider a LEGO Store, or an Amusement Park/Discovery Center somewhere there.
P.S. - I remember you, LC!! Nice to see you here too! You're welcome! Thanks! It was a big project, but it's something I'll always remember!
P.S. - Lol, I can already imagine it.
I agree, YouTube comments are lethal It's sad that some people think they can get away with saying awful things to other people just because they're online and will never meet. I wish Facebook had better moderation too!
The loops editor was one of my favourite things on MLN My least favourite part was the clicks limit
Ugh I really hope so!! I've dreamt about the Pick-a-brick wall so many times...
P.S. - Thank-you! Yeah I haven't seen many of my friends around LMB Eternal so it's great to 'see' you. I can imagine that creation took a massive amount of time and effort!
P.S. -
I second that. The internet is a dangerous place, and I feel it's getting worse every day.
Ahh, I remember the clicks limit, although I only played MLN with one other friend that I knew in real life and I never made any other friends.
The Pick-a-brick wall is great and I've gotten lots of good pieces from the wall a few times. Some days there are really nice pieces to get in bulk, and other days there's not much to choose from. I hope you get to have one some day, or encounter one on a vacation.
P.S. - You're welcome! Ahh, I understand. I wonder where everyone else went. Yeah, it only took a few hours to assemble, but overall a few days to check who wants to be in it, and update it every day until the LMBs closed.
I could have helped you rank up. I could build a page full of race tracks. I used to help all the rank 3's on the MLN Wiki. Personally, I don't think we'll be waiting very long to see LEGO Life fail. It only has a 3.9 on the Google Play. That's quite terrible. The whole 'newness' will wear off fast IMO. There is only so much you can do on it. Kids will get bored and either head to other apps or LEGO.com. At least that's what I think... And hope.
Nope. Our economy is shocking. Our wages are too high to compete with the rest of the world. People don't like to admit that as it shows the faults in capitalism and globalisation. It's not a popular criticism in liberal nations, so most people and the media would rather blame unemployment on the poor sods who deal with it. So yeah, our economy is rubbish, as is that of most of the 'developed' world IMO.
Still, the undeveloped world is FAR worse off.
Just look at it this way: with capitalism (or socialism) some of the people succeed in life. With communism, none of the people succeed in life. There are variations on all these things, but the end results are usually the same.
True, it's the way we use the system that hurts everyone though. We can potentially improve it without changing the system. Capitalism is "free market", if we support ethical products we can improve capitalism for everyone... Potentially as it's a bit Utopian and I don't think m/any scholars have actually studied this idea.
There is a smartphone known as the fairphone as it is built with mostly ethical and fair parts. Parts which still derive from developing nations, but are collected from safer mines (with OH&S) and non-conflict zones where workers are paid a decent wage. The support for higher wages and better Work Health and Safety, may in turn, help maintain higher wages and working standard in developed nations. We can vote with our dollar, that's how capitalism "works".
Hmm... You can get a decent mix with use of the current philosophies. For instance, Australia has social values (welfare) and liberal values (individualism). We socially pay for our universal health care, our schools and our universities. Anyone can (currently) attend university. Our degrees are (currently) subsidised and are (currently) paid for once attendees start earning $55K p.a. As for the liberalism part, there is still a large private sector (hospitals, schools, universities, telecommunication, manufacturers etc). One can use their socially funded degree to start their own business. It's not awesome, but it's better than some other places. I'm not saying everyone has the chance to succeed in Australia, because that's 100% impossible. We are unfortunately not created equally. Additionally, success is subjective. You might class a millionaire as successful, whereas I might class the happy person successful.
As for keeping on topic. When I finally purchase a fairphone, I might download LEGO Life on it. Probably not.
Sadly i tried it out, my old Sig-Fig died to it being replaced with a caped, sworded faker that had a nice business suit on it. Thank arceus i opened a second account as "The2nddecade" on the galleries. Go search me up on there. Would like it.

I've been thinking of online safety for a while, and after thinking about my conversations with Hugh, and the behavior of the LEGO group, I've thought of something. Not sure if it's worth sharing.
The more I think about it, the more I remember that LEGO likes to keep a high standard of quality. They always have really high goals, such as no product recalls, of employee safety, etc. I would guess that the LMBs were pretty good for LEGO, until the incidents that happened a few years ago. LEGO realized that users were meeting outside the LMBs (like us, right now), and some of those users were in fact dangerous people (I believe I am not allowed to go into detail).
It may have only been one case, but to LEGO, one case is bad enough, and they definitely don't want to deal with another one.
So the reason why LEGO pushes so hard on LEGO Life, is because the removal of text comments and having to use emojis completely prevents users from communicating to each other and possibly meeting up outside LEGO.com. Usernames are also blocked and random three word usernames are used. This way, no one can know each other, and no one can get any personal information about other people. Another fact about LEGO Life is that it was a project developed with UNICEF, the international organization under the United Nations for protecting children. Yes, not using words for comments it is inconvenient, yes, it doesn't make sense, but it's either that or there's no LEGO children-friendly social network at all.
So in the end, I can't fault LEGO Life for doing its job of trying to be a safe social network considering the unfortunate events that the mods on the LMBs had to deal with when they found out that people were meeting outside the LMBs. You could say that it only took one incident and one group of irresponsible users to ruin it for everyone, but we'll actually never know if the LMBs were bound to close even if the LMBs had a clean slate. Now that the LMBs are gone, us meeting outside LEGO.com is now our liability and not The LEGO Group's.

...i'll leave you to figure that one out.
yes but i can't because on EVERY socal media people can post pic of themselves

YOUR WRONG YOU TWERP!
Um, excuse me but you spelled "you're" wrong. You have to add an "e" and a '.
If you are going to insult someone at least do it with proper grammar.
