For Jay, most likely an Electric-type of course, maybe something like Raichu or Luxray? (Would start out as a Pikachu or Luxio, turn into a Pichu or Shinx in ep.18) Or maybe Zeraora? Something fast as well. (I can also imagine Movie!Jay as an Alolan Raichu to Show!Jay's Kantonian form.)
Zane, probably an Ice and/or Steel-type? (Unfortunately there is no Steel/Ice type.) The only Pokemon I can think of that's actually a robot would be Magearna, but Magearna is much too feminine, a better fit for PIXAL if anything. Maybe Glaceon or Alolan Ninetales, but then again, HE'S A ROBOT.
Cole, probably a Rock or Ground-type. (Bonus points if he's a Ghost-type, because of S5.) (Golurk is Ground/Ghost, so there's an idea.)
Kai, definitely a Fire-type. Fire-Fighting fits like nothing else. Infernape, Blaziken, Incineroar...man, Kai's just too easy.
Lloyd: Possibly Grass-type just for the color (and the theme of life/energy), Ghost-type (especially part-ghost) for the S8 reveal...I like to imagine Rowlet when he's an irresponsible kid at the beginning, Dartrix after Tomorrow's Tea, and Decidueye post-season 8. Snivy/Servine/Serperior would fit with the snake themes in Ninjago as well, although him pretending to be a snake would be weird if he was already a snake. (Also, Dragon-types would be perfect, but not many I know would fit Lloyd.)
Nya: Milotic for its beauty and grace (and it's also a Water/Dragon-type), Swanna is graceful but can be aggressive (Nya's a pretty girl with a fierce fighting spirit), Gardevoir isn't a Water-type but is similarly graceful and can tell the future (Nya is rumored to have psychic powers)
Skylor as Zoroark. SKYLOR AS ZOROARK. THAT IS ALL. (Skylor can copy others' powers; Zoroark has similar flaming red hair and can create illusions, similar to Ditto's ability to transform. It's also a Dark-type, which fits with her father's motives.)
Lil' Nelson as Eevee, Furret, or a similar Normal-type.
Fenwick could be an Alakazam, considering he writes destinies and Alakazam is a psychic. Or maybe a Hypno, since they're manipulative tricksters.
In general, the Cloud Kingdom would have a lot of Psychic-types. Nobu would probably be a Ralts or something.
