Erin, having heard the commotion from outside, trots toward the cart in time to see the Child run outside and trip on a fallen log, his cloak falling backward to reveal a pair of oxen-like horns. Raising his two front legs, he neighs loudly for Rose, frantic at the sight of the Minotaur who begins to cry louder.
Still dizzy from the powerful impact, Rose leans on her sword for support and picks the last bit of hay from her hair. Wobbling to the spot of the skirmish, she calls out to both Erin and the Child.
"Aye, stow your tears young un'. And if it pleases ye, return to me my property, ye ken?"
Now outside, she watches the Child stand in front of Erin, screaming out commands. Ignoring them, Erin digs his right foot into the ground and neighs in defiance, quite annoyed with him.
Chuckling, Rose waves her right hand and asks for the Child to stop.

Chuckling, Rose waves her right hand and asks for the Child to stop.
"Leave em be, he is just as spooked as you are."
Hearing nothing but frantic mooing, Rose quickly offers the boy a piece of flat cake, to which he readily accepts. Forcing himself upright, the Child turns to face her, but looks away for a moment as a cold shiver causes him to shake violently. He finally collapses, frightening Erin.
Dropping everything, Rose immediately carries the unconscious child to her cart, gently laying him down on a soft bed of hay. Checking his pulse, she breathes a sigh of relief and tucks him in with a warm blanket.
"Now, I'd be lacking in knowledge of minotaur anatomy, but it appears this lost child is suffering from severe starvation. Guess having that old cake of mine sent his body into shock."
Erin nods in agreement.
Stretching her legs, Rose lets out a yawn before touching her sore chin. "Perhaps we should get some rest too. I did see you dozing off quiet a bit before this creature scared you stiff..."
Erin neighs in protest, but catches the joke. Flicking his tail in her face, he drags a large cloth Rose hands to him with his teeth and sets it on the ground. Laying down, he neighs to her a good night before closing his eyes in sleep.

At noon the next day, the Minotaur Child wakes to the scent of carp cooking over a small fire.
Pouring herself a beaker of cool water, Rose motions for him to sit by the fire and hands him a plate of day-old vegetables.
"Eat up if you wish to regain your strength."
Noticing the Child's hesitancy in coming forward, Erin selects an apple from his personal stash and carefully rolls it over to the boy using his head. After neighing a friendly greeting, he happily resumes his breakfast.
The Minotaur Child readily snatches the apple and swallows it whole. He then waddles over to the plate of vegetables and clears it in a matter of seconds.
Erin and Rose give each other what could only be described as a mixed look of shock and awe, with a tad of caution.

They expend their supplies, as Rose did not expect a third traveler, and they head off in the direction of Mercenary Village.

*** (Continuing from Mercenary Village: Varlamane)
Inwardly seething, Varlamane picks a blade of grass and chews on it slowly. His eyes cut through a bleak night illuminated by a crescent moon.
Skipping around without much care for his surroundings, a man in faded brown threading twirls his travelling pouch in the air, catching it with a smile.
He is lifted in the air by the collar of his tunic where he hangs there for a moment writhing in anger. The fist puts him down, and gently wipes dirt from his shoulders.
Stepping out of the shadows casted by the tall trees, Varlamane impales his staff into the ground. "Any news from beyond the Village Cil?"
Watching the staff vibrate from the impact, Cil clears his throat and keeps up the warm tone. "Yes. Heard a few speak of evidence of an wolf attack near the Shadow Kingdom boarders. Erm, good food to be had at the Tavern and of the like."
Varlamane places a reassuring hand on Cil's shoulder. "Old friend, is there nothing else to tell?"
Cil gulps. "Ships have returned back to the Endless Sea, though I hear some cattle has been held up. Truthfully that be the last of it."
Varlamane nods. "Be it so then. My friends at the Village should aid me. Have your fill at the inn. I hear a bard will perform tonight."
Shoving him forward, Varlamane pulls his staff from the ground with ease, brushing off dirt while watching Cil. They trek back to the Village.
