Chapter Five
The Original FaceTime
(part 2)


    ..."I realized that she needed to be in a safe place, where they would care for her special needs. Which brought up the hard subject of money. Lots of it in fact. So I eventually fell in with a gang. We did....less than legal work sometimes." Nexo looked at the ground and picked at his t-shirt that he was now wearing.
"I worked my way up by being hard and merciless. I got the bigger jobs, I learned how to 'take care of people' that were hindrances to other people. And so I received my gang name, 'Ex'. I did a lot of things I regretted, and learned some habits I shouldn't have. But in the end I worked to get out of that, I swore to myself that as soon as I could I would work out of that life, and start fresh. And eventually I did. Until the Fourth Wall people found me then everything changed again. But the Ex added to my name, Nathan stuck. And it reminds me everyday of my past, and what I learned from it."  
Con pondered that, then moved to sit next to his older brother. Putting his arm around Nexo, Conner offered quiet comfort and support. It felt natural to be with his brother again, like he had never left.
But their comradery was disturbed far to soon as Luke walked in humming happily holding a device of some sort, and addressed them.
"Well friends! This is the defining moment has come! The moment every agent lives for. Getting your team assignments. Are ya ready?" Both teens nodded gamely. Luke visibly swelled in excitement,
"Well then, with no further ado. Conner Oakhurst. You will be training with Mockingbird. Hopefully after you train there when you move to Jay, the secondary team to Eagle, you will unlock your powers! Nexo Oakhurst. You will train in Owl as per the nature of your powers. After that you will be allowed to officially join Eagle."
Luke beamed at them the gave them each a package containing their new A class outfits.
Nexo's was white and black representing the power of a snowy owl.
Con's was grey and darker grey, representing mockingbirds.
They were on their way.
