C++ and Java have an unfair advantage, as they're both based on C which predates Python by around a decade
Java is dying really fast in terms of web applications, and C++ is used in entirely different circumstances from Python usually
Java is still a top language I feel. For one, my dad who works on Amazon's robots uses Java for the code he writes, and Amazon is one of the biggest companies in the world!
Hence the web applications bit
Both Java and C++ are very common for lowlevel stuff, including some drone control systems, but it takes longer to develop and is a lot less readable
Old sci-fi is the best sci-fi! v this is not old sci-fi Maxim 3: An ordnance technician at a dead run outranks everybody. Maxim 24: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from a big gun.
"“Even by the twenty-second century, no way had yet been discovered of keeping elderly and conservative scientists from occupying crucial administrative positions. Indeed, it was doubted if the problem ever would be solved.” ^That, on the other hand, is old sci-fi.
it offers no foreign languages and in general looks awful for getting accepted into college
Well, I went to normal school and just went to the tech school for 90 minutes a day. Not to mention I got college credit for my programming courses. Of course that doesn't matter to me anymore as I dropped out of college:P.
I wish that had been an option

Welcome to Coders Corner! This is a topic where fellow programmers can talk about programming, what programs they are working on, and help each other out! Just post a profile with the languages you know and how long you have been programming. Here's my profile: Name: Diglett809 Languages: C++, Java, Python, Visual Basic Years of Experience: 3
I thought you worked at the movie theatre Is this like University stuff?
I do work at a movie theater, and in the summer, an amusement park. I just do programming the rest of the time:P. It was going to be university stuff, but I ended up dropping out of college because it was a waste money and I was forced to take gen eds:S. Right now I'm only working like 20-30 hours a week, so I have TONS of free time to post and learn programming. During the summer it will be tougher, but I still think I can continue both:).

Yeah, it's definitely harder and takes longer. Python is definitely easier to read for the average person too, which is why it was a good first language for me:).

I was very lucky it was. The school I went to had literally 20 kids in the whole high school and only 4 in my grade. They didn't even offer foreign languages, I had to take French online, what a pain that was:P. They just happened to have an agreement to let kids apply to take classes at a tech school. It had like 10-15 programs you could take there from graphic design to culinary! I chose computer science in a heartbeat, I had always wanted to be a programmer:).

What password:S? You don't need a password to program:P.
to the website in which i coded.
You don't need to go to a website to program:S. You just download a free programming environment and use that:). For example, for Java I use Idea and for C++ I use Visual Studio. Both are free.

Nice! I don't know any of those, I don't do much with website programming which I believe is what most of those are used for.
Yeah, the first three are for websites. Processing.JS is a programming language made so that Javascript can be used without a webpage. It doesn't have any practical use.

Ah okay, that makes sense. I was wondering what that was. I mostly do C++ and Java these days, right now mostly C++.

I'm interested in learning C++ in the future. It's easily the best C-family language.
