Actually though, a lot of the EU does sound to out there and not well written to me. Zahn's stuff is almost completely amazing, and there's a lot of other good stuff, but some of it....eh, no. Like the Yuuzhan Vong War. And the Jacen solo thing.
Still, though, the Thrawn trilogy is Star Wars at its finest. :joke: Well. A New Hope and Empire come close. :joke:
(A do Zahn's other books.)
Okay. That was a bit of an exaggeration. :joke:
I'm reading the Legacy of the Force series right now and completely agree with you that the whole Second Galactic Civil War thing is stupid.
But the Thrawn Trilogy is amazing, Allegiance and Choices of One are good, and Outbound Flight is spectacular. Tales of the Bounty Hunters is also neat. But of course, ANH and ESB are better than all except Heir to the Empire and The Last Command.
I love all of Zahn's books except for the Hand of Thrawn Daulogy. I found it strange dull. Outbound Flight is very amazing (Largely because of Thrawn. Survivor's quest is excellent as well. I read Outbound Flight first, which made it weird to read
survivor's quest, considering the "mystery" element. Have you read Scoundrels? It's also great, and it's fun to see a classic heist story set in the SW universe.
I do really like how Zahn's books almost form there own sub-universe. Not really, but he follows a bunch of the same characters, slowly revealing more about them, and showing them at different points in the life, and how it weaves together. Have you read Splinter of the Mind's eye? It's rather strange. :joke: I have a bunch of other random old EU books I haven't read, because they don't look particularly good. The truce at Bakura lost me very soon into it.
Hey Qui! I haven't seen you on the boards recently (perhaps it's because I haven't been on many topics anymore?) I'm glad you haven't gone inactive yet.
