1. Didn't YJF's character have a backstory that explained the gender switch? I do believe he did. I kinda remember him making him a fuss about it.
2. I personally think you are blowing this subject out of scale. No one was suggesting adding a bunch of new powers. Just a few fanon powers that wouldn't have effected the power scale that much.
3. Still if a Skakdi gains mental willpower it should be able to use a mask. Vezon is still a Skadki however iffy therefore making him an example.
Aren't Av-Kuta canon? I'm not getting on you for being strict. I'm getting on to you for picking on YJF. I mean we get to hear it in Slack every time you tick him off Please stop
1. YJF.... likes girls. I don't know why, he just does. And I don't want to ask him about it.
2. For any given av-Makuta power a lot of fanon is involved just in determining whether or not a power needs to be replaced or not. And even MORE fanon is involved in actually replacing that power.
3. I am inclined to say Vezon is fundamentally different than any other Skakdi that exist, and thus, is not a valid example of what the species is capable of.
Av-Makuta are canon but the majority of their powers would be fanon.
1. YJF is just plain weird. Still there was an explanation given. 2. I was under the impression that only the six powers used in the mask of light arc were immoral along with shadow. 3. According to TLR the Skakdi haven't even been mutated yet...Shouldn't that increase the chances of there being a skadki that can use a mask? I mean the Skakdi haven't been messed up yet.
I know I'm not active here, but can I say something?
I suppose it was canonical that skakdi could not use kanohi, but it does say that they can indeed wear them, the only inhibitor being their lack of mental discipline. It is stated that ALL skakdi had been warped in one way or another as a result of Spiriah's experiments, mostly being physical damage or mental brokenness. It is also stated that females are even more violent and destructive then males. Even some of the most collected and calm skakdi could not use kanohi.
Vezon was a Skakdi, but only half of one. He had no acsess to kanohi until the Ignika essentially gave him a, "cheat code" or, "back door" for using kanohi. He had little to no mental discipline.
I highly doubt YJF's skakdi would be able to access a mask unless something or someone else physically or mentally altered her. This is easy for Makuta to do on an individual, but extremely challenging to perform on and entire species.
She, unlike many of her species, has plenty of mental discipline, as well as willpower to match. Indeed, it isn't likely for many Skakdi to wield them, but it's most certainly possible. Corathe is one of those few Skakdi.
If it would appease people, I can pull some things around and have her given a cheat code, thanks to Makuta.
Maybe Ornirax will pay her a visit later. Assuming he isn't smashed, of course.
Ugh... and now, for an ACTUAL profile. Which is what this topic is actually for
Name: Gahdra
Species: Vortixx
Weapons/tools: A tool she invented that uses a high pressure water-current as a blade of sorts. It cuts much more cleanly than any regular blade can. Gahdra also possesses a Rhotuka launcher. Her Rhotuka power causes a globe of water to surround its victim for a few moments. Not long enough to drown them -- but long enough that they are extremely disoriented by the time the effect wears off.
Appearance: I'll post her on the galleries soon enough.
Personality: Gahdra is... unusually caring for a Vortixx. She is of the belief that the matriarchy on Xia is morally wrong, and that both genders are equally capable of any job, and are equally deserving of any rights that make sense to be granted. In spite of this, however, she possesses great ambition. However, in spite of THAT trait, she is also opposed to being manipulative. She strives for efficiency and recognition of her works so that she may one day gain control of the society, and make things right.
Backstory: Emarcee noted the social structure of the Vortixx race, and found it to be both an intolerable and disgusting act of blatant matriarchy with clear equality issues. Based on this, he decided to create a Vortixx of his own in an effort to combat what he saw as a wholesomely vile practice. He purposefully created Gahdra the way she is with the hopes that she might one day ascend to a position of influence within the society, and somehow create gender equality. She has been programmed with strong beliefs on this matter. In order to make her stand out, Emarcee granted Gahdra a love for the ocean, in the hopes she would use it as a gimmick for her inventions -- which she does to this day.
While I like the character. I'm going to play the devil's advocate for a minute and apply the same argument that you used on YJF's Skadki.
You are changing a canon fact. Vortixx in canon didn't have the character qualities that you are describing your Vortixx to have. I quote Biosector, "They can be cruel, manipulative and intelligent. The Vortixx are usually uninterested in ruling factions, or influencing the outcomes of events. They are only interested in their payment, and receiving the greatest profit as a result of their actions."
Your character is a complete parallel to what is seen in canon.
We'll be back in a minute, right after this profile!
Name: Thernolenos Species: Makuta Mask: Hau Powers: Shadow, 42 Kraata powers, Mask infection, shadow hand. An expert in (shadow) kraata and shadow hands, and reasonably skilled in the corrupting power of antidermis. Weaponry: A boring old sword with a hollow handle containing some antidermis, with a side of practice in shadow hand trickery and use of mask infecting powers. Appearance: A tall figure with dark green eyes. His armor is built straight and cleanly, aesthetically pleasing without being overcrowded with detail. His mask is colored like an infected mask, and his armor mirrors the colors in it's copper and black coloring. His hands are not clawed, and he has no wings.
And now, we will return to 'Emarcee vs YJF'
I did this in a rush, so here's better detail. Yay.

She was Great-Being created, and created for a purpose. Thus, her psychological programming is fundamentally different than any normal Vortixx.
I did my research on Vortixx before creating the concept -- and I made sure my logic was sound, and also ensured that it had the feasibility to hold up to scrutiny.
In the case of YJF's character, Corathe WAS changed by the Makuta. So logically, she couldn't use Kanohi.
In my case, I have outlined circumstances that make this character possible, rather than just writing it down and forcing everyone to accept it.

The only example for this we have in canon is due to meddling from the Kanohi Ignika -- the magic macguffin to end all magic macguffins. I think my stance on this is pretty clear

For a makuta, the only reason skakdi's minds are screwed up to being unable to use kanohi in the first place, fixing their minds up to be able to use one should be child's play. Especially considering Spiriah was an idiotic failure compared to the rest. Of course, this would require YJF writing that into the alterations Corathe recieved from some makuta.

Something to note, is Corathe was being considered for the Order of Mata Nui. That's why Mhrakh is there.

That could work, or I could arrange for another. Either way.

Just like every single one of your characters, and EVERYONE was made for a purpose.
Did you, really? Your logic is flawed. She would never get into a place of power without ruthlessness, given that's how their society works. Initially, both men and women are given relatively equal chances. Men, if they survive enough, are given somewhat better positions. Women, if they survive alone, get gigantic promotions.
How is that logical? A Makuta altered her, so she can't use Kanohi? How does that make sense?
Such as..? It's improbable. Also, everyone should accept Corathe + Kanohi. It's not illogical in any way. Anyone with a brain could see why.

At least it's IN canon, and not completely contrived like Gahdra. Besides, the Piraka planned to use the Ignika, so chances are, they knew how Kanohi worked and knew they'd need some discipline or something. Zaktan was smart.

I refuse to continue lowering myself by arguing with you and attempting to justify my actions to you. Either accept your are wrong here, or drop the subject altogether.
