The How to Train Your Dragon franchise already has an abundance of short films, this one probably would've just gotten buried by the others.
Good point, I can't say the series or the short films are particularly memorable, at least for me.
*gasp* the first How to Train Your Dragon is one of my few films to ever achieve the perfect 5 stars! But yeah, everybody has their own taste. What would be a 5 star movie for you?

Since I mentioned TV shows in my introductory post, I figure I should at least have one up.
Percy Jackson & the Olypmians: Season 1 While they made lots of good decisions about this TV show, such as casting young actors and adapting the source material (mostly) faithfully, the show somehow lost the spark along the way. The book is well-represented, but the story feels slow and boring, winding its way to an eventual close. While some of the iconic scenes were well-represented, a few were underwhelming, especially the Lotus Casino. A lot of the lines between the three main characters felt a little stiff. Hopefully they are given the chance to loosen up in future seasons, because I think they could really pull this together given time.

: A perfect opportunity for a lasting theme for LEGO if they jumped on it. The characters would make great minifigures (especially in this adaption) and there are many iconic locations for sets. I would love to see Camp Half-Blood get LEGOized. Oh, and they could finally reuse that Minotaur mold.
A little out there, but I wanted to try some more Taika Waititi. Hunt for the Wilderpeople Spectacularly odd is the general praise to Taika Waititi's craft, and this one delivers plenty of odd. While this movie will never be exceptional, it is a movie you haven't seen before in another form. It also serves as a love letter to New Zealand scenery. The movie is not afraid to spend a lot of time on nothing, drawing out small scenes into something that will either make you impatient or help you appreciate a new aspect of a character.
: 3.5
: While you could make a set or two off this movie, I see no reason to.

Oh no I meant the series as in the TV show. The movies were okay I guess JK they were pretty good.
Oooooh, hard one. Kung fu panda 1 & 2 were fantastic IMO, so those might some close to five stars, especially Kung fu panda 2. (We don't talk about kung fu panda 4... ) The LOTR trilogy was also pretty good.

Oh yeah I never even bothered with that. If it doesn't have the original voice actors than it's not likely to be any good. That slash through those words might've saved us from a blood feud.
Those were pretty good, the villains in all the Kung Fu Pandas have lived up to Dreamworks standards, which is to say exceptional. (I haven't seen it yet, saw it had good reviews...you disagree?) Those are for sure up there, I have reviews on those I might post one day, so I won't spoil my ratings.
Now felt like a good time to post this one. I'll do a double feature even...I never reviewed the second one (despite watching them all in order) for reasons now unknown to me.
Kung Fu Panda It was over all too quickly...I guess that's a good thing? Sequels feel very necessary to flesh out some of the background characters, but the series was put off to a good start.

Kung Fu Panda 3 While I didn't feel this movie had much to offer me as an adult besides visually pleasing fight sequences and some well-timed light-hearted panda humor, I know this is the kind of movie I would have obsessed over as a kid. The Kung Fu Panda series does not feel like it has reached its peak yet, but it steadily climbing in quality.

: LEGO has done anthropomorphic animals before with some degree of success, so I'm not ruling out that these movies would look good in LEGO form, there's just some challenges. The noodle shop would make a fun set though.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse A phenomenal movie that shattered a style of animation that had spanned well over a decade, introducing a fresh visual style that many have tried to replicate. This movie is good in all aspects, but it is the animation and visual storytelling that sets it apart. It dared to step outside of the box, and shone for it. The only reason I am not rating this movie higher is because I think the sequels have the potential to take it even one step further.
: 4.5
: I mean, LEGO has already made Miles Morales LEGO sets, but I think they could use to utilize this movie's visual style a little more and could turn out a few great sets.

I watched a few episodes a while back. It was... what you would expect from a dreamworks show based around a movie. Whew, I should be more careful.
Oh for sure, Dreamworks certainly knows how to do villains for the most part. (It certainly wasn't the worst movie Dreamworks has ever put out, but in comparison to the last three installments it's just not quite up to scratch. To quote someone who reviewed the movie, it's ''disappointingly mediocre'' That's just my opinion after having watched it once, maybe I'm expecting too much from Dreamworks, especially after seeing what they're capable of with movies like The Last Wish.

Oooh, can't wait to see 'em!
Yeah, I figured. Imagine if they actually made a quality TV show based around a movie. They've wasted so much potential.
I thought it stood a chance of being the best yet, sad to hear that likely it will be competing for the worst. To be fair though, it could still be a good movie and hold that position. The Last Wish was on another level.
They are part of a very large backstock of reviews written before I started posting them on here. They were some of the first.
The second time watching still left me feeling like there are details I missed.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Watching this movie once wasn't enough, and likely the second and third times will still leaving me feeling like there are details I have missed. This is a sequel worth waiting for, and once you see it you understand why it was so long in coming. The amount of work this film must have taken is absurd, but you can tell it's made by animators that care, and animators willing to reshape the industry. The movie tells a good story, one you'll be thinking about for days after, and leaves you on a cliffhanger only made worse by the delay of the next film. If you're looking for an example of an animated masterpiece, look no further.
