I think I got both as Christmas gifts from different people. Same way I managed to get multiple of a few 2011 Star Wars sets... kept the duplicates in the sealed box though so they're worth like double what they were at first though
They've been able to use BIONICLE pieces in enough minifig-scaled sets, if nothing else.
Ah, that makes sense. I got two LEGO Ferraris F430s from two different families on different occasions, but thankfully the set has an alternate model color, so I could build both versions. That's a good investment. Some of the good sets have probably tripled in price by now.
Oh yeah, that's true. Every theme is already connected just by what pieces they already use.
That seems like such a random set to have two of, but some nifty pieces in them. I don't think I've had anything triple in price, of course everything that's worth a lot that I have I opened up.
Speaking of connected pieces, NG today realized that the 5x6 tree branches piece comes in a ton of different colors and is fascinated by the discovery. A lot of builders are using the orange version nowadays, for some reason.

Now that I think about it, it is quite a random set, and who knew I'd end up with two of them. I guess in terms of probability that's an interesting statistic. That's true. Most of the things that go for hundreds of dollars now are more expensive back when they first released. I've seen old Modular buildings go for a thousand dollars.
Ah, that's very nice. I think it's the LEGO Ideas Tree House that comes with the new tree branch pieces in the Autumn themed colors, and there might be a winter themed set that has those same pieces. I guess it's cause it's new and everyone wants to get their hands on them.

Well, I assume there is some other variable at play, did you like cars as a kid? The modular buildings really go for that much? Are any of their component pieces uncommon? I always assumed it'd be rather easy to part out the modular buildings and build the older ones that way (NG is obsessed with them... might have to get her the bookstore - which also has orange branches - for Christmas ).
And yes, everyone apparently has the tree house and are using those pieces with some fervor. The bonsai set has smaller but interestingly colored branches as well. Eventually I'll get around to building that...

I did like cars in general, but not any specific car or car brand. Everyone knew I liked LEGO to begin with, so I guess they knew to start with that and they just happened to pick the same set. At least the old modular buildings that have been retired. I think Cafe Corner has dark blue arch pieces that were specific to that set, but I don't know if that part is still in production, and Green Grocer's green bricks might be hard to find. Some modular buildings wil be easier to build than others, though it definitely will be an expensive job. (I think NG will like that set a lot. Great pieces and great building techniques. )
Yep, it seems pretty popular among all of the LEGO fans. Ah yes, I forgot about the alternate colors of the Bonsai set, as well as plenty of pink frogs.
Man ever since 2012 I've wanted to see someone at rank Rapper and no one will honor my wishes
If the boards had made it another year I might have pulled it off
Rapper was just a lie. It was a rank no one could achieve. You went from Disco Dude to Spaceman. That was it.
I'll always wonder if someone had the rank briefly when they were switching rank reqs around. Purposefully excluding it doesn't even make sense... if they thought it was a more offensive rank name... did they ever think about conquistador

Maybe I'll just hope I have enough money to just pay up and get the sets if I ever decide they need to be added to my collection. She likes bookstores so it is a natural thing. She talks about it a lot
I can't really think of an alternate use for pink frogs, unfortunately

That works too. Hopefully you can find a good deal on those sets. Pretty much the perfect set for her.
Neither can I. Seems too specific of a piece to find something to use them on. Maybe for some kind of texture, but for something specifically pink.

Or maybe she'll decide she's better off without them and I can save money
I should take that as a challenge to use them in something. I have a decent sized box of random AP lego here, I've considered doing some MOCs at some point with my limited supply... but I'd probably get annoyed with the pieces I have

I guess that'll be nice too, though not as sweet. Maybe you could just take her to a real bookstore instead.
It'll certainly be interesting figuring out how to use those pink frogs. I'm sure you'll still find the challenge fun even with AP's random box of LEGO. Probably easier than trying to build a MOC from a specific set's pieces.

There are several supposedly nice bookstores near where I am living, though I have yet to check them out.
Admittedly I only started buying tons of bulk LEGO because I got annoyed that I didn't have enough loose pieces to build with... I do love having a complete collection of bricks. Building a MOC from a specific set is the ultimate challenge... doing that with the bonsai would be pretty fun... building NOT another tree that is

Sounds like it'll be a fun field trip exploring the nice bookstores. She would probably enjoy it.
I can understand that, sometimes you only have a specific variety of parts to work with, so bulk LEGO is a nice way to get more variety. Same with me, though I certainly don't have a complete collection of bricks. That'll be an interesting challenge for sure. With the majority of pieces being brown and green, the only thing I can think of is a tree. Maybe you can make some kind of landscape since there's a lot of slopes and curved slopes.

I've been so busy doing math I never go out at the right times to see the local attractions. Usually I just walk around from 7-8pm and by then everything is closed.
I feel like my collection back at my parents is nearing the point where I could consider it somewhat complete, but there's always some cool brick you don't think of.
I wonder if I could make a spaceship out of it... use the tree pieces to create some sort of curve. I think there are enough SNOT pieces and repetitive elements that I could come up with something. Is this the best use of my time? Probably not...

Ah, I see. You don't even get a break to get dinner while the restaurants are open?
That makes sense. There's always new pieces that LEGO is designing that just make everything so much easier, like sideways bracket elements and new Technic pins.
That would be pretty neat. Also a lot of pieces to make odd angles as well which could be interesting. Lol, yeah probably should focus on math first.

Due to food allergies I tend to just cook for myself, it's cheaper, too
New technic elements are confusing.. I'm too used to the technic pieces of my childhood
I'm a bit stuck on the color scheme, I wonder if I could manage to use the green pieces to create the curvature, then use everything else on top of that to cover it up to make it look more aesthetic.
