I’m gonna keep it real - I haven’t been following Ninjago since at least early 2017, if not earlier. The last arc I definitely remember is Day of the Departed. So what happened in the last three years or so? I feel not knowing what going with the series/toys that shaped my childhood.
(when I walk down the LEGO aisle now I have no idea what’s in the sets except for the “legacy” ones. Apparently my childhood sets are being sold to a new generation now, while makes me so happy that you get kids get to experience the old sets, but also makes me feel like a boomer!)

Well, they made Season 7 (Hands of Time), and it... egh. You'll may hear many varying opinions about it but I don't think anybody found it ovational. I personally thought it was just mediocre.
They then made Season 8 and 9 (Sons of Garmadon and Hunted), which had a bit of a darker tone but absolutely rocked. The story is super engaging and just really thematically impressive.
Oh, right, they also switched up the character design, which everybody hated at first but most of us have adjusted to.
Season 10 was a movie split into four episodes and it wrapped up the storyline from S8-9. I know some people really liked it but I felt like it showed some structural wear.
Aaaaaand then came Season 11, the current season. They actually switched animation studios, so the show looks and feels different.
Once again, my own thoughts - Season 11 feels like a reboot, and it's an alright kids' show. It's just much below Ninjago's standards and seems to have little care for past character development the show's spent so many years building.
Although plenty of diehard fans are still watching, most of the people I see this appealing to are pretty young, making me think the show's moved onto another generation. Which... alright? I'll just be the boomer ranting about how much better the show was in the past.
Apparently Season 12 is coming at some point, and it looks like... a gamer season? jay had better not default dance It'll just be interesting to see how that plays out.
It basically got really really good for a year or too, but now it's toned down on the awesomeness and kind of made for the new generation of audiences now. Which makes me sad.

Wow we really do sound like Boomers. -hugs my sneks and skeletons- Don't judge me, the first and second seasons/waves were awesome.

In my opinion, the golden age of Ninjago was 2011-2015. It kind of went downhill for me after season 5. I didn't like season 6 or Day of the Departed, and I thought the movie and season 7 were both just alright at best. Seasons 8-10 were kind of a renaissance, finally with an overarching story again, instead of just one-off stories that were mostly ignored later, like seasons 6 and 7. But I think season 10 probably should've been the end, as Ninjago seems to have devolved now into a generic comedy cartoon with 11-minute episodes.

My thoughts are the same, but...I love season 6...

That's understandable. If only it had ended differently, then it wouldn't have been a filler season.

Yeah, I see what you mean by it being a filler season. The ending was a little annoying, but it was still one of the funnier seasons and it had major plot points like Jay being adopted and Nadakhan/Soto's backstories.

Yeah, I loved to see Jay as a pirate sort of, and how sort of like "stressful' it was. Every ninja was getting taken down one by one, and Jay was the only one left.

It was like a light take on a horror movie.
I like when it scares me, but not that much, y'know?
