I really loved it as well! Those critics didn’t know what they were talking about.
But...
BEN SOLO.
I have never been so upset leaving a movie theatre as I was after Ben’s death. WHY??
I don’t get why the former villains have to die after they’ve been redeemed. (Aka, Vader, Snape, etc). I’ve always been a Rey and Kylo shipper (go, team Reylo!), and when they DID THE THING at the end, I freaked out. And then he died two seconds later.

So upset.
Does anyone else feel the same?
YES GO REYLO! xD I was pretty sad about it too, but I understood why he needed to die for the new saga and whatever.
But yeah, the critics are... not real people or something.

Yeah they're going to make some new saga about some new people I guess lol. You know how Disney is. xD
The new Cats movie and TROS were rated close?! I haven't seen Cats yet, but stilllllll... wow. And The Last Jedi got like a 96% while The Rise of Skywalker got 57%. I don't understaaaand. AAAH!

All in all I really enjoyed it but it felt empty compared to VII and VIII. I loved the movie and it was a phenomenal theater experience, I was shaking with excitement and I cried once or twice... but ultimately it left the sequel trilogy looking like a bit of a mess.
It's glaringly obvious that there was no consistent vision behind the trilogy as a whole. I don't dislike any of the sequels on their own, but when you look at all three of them together IX kinda derails the flow a bit in my opinion. That is not to say I didn't enjoy it, it just didn't sit right with me in that regard.
As far as this movie on its own, Finn was kiiiiiiiinda useless but overall it was a really fun, solid movie. I especially enjoyed Rey and Ben along with all the legacy characters that returned, and hearing the maestro John Williams's final score for the saga was emotional to say the least. It was nice to see him make an appearance in the film as well.

I agree that there was no consistent vision behind the sequels, especially with the fact that they weren't all directed by one person... If JJ Abrams directed them all (or some other person), we probably would have seen a little more uniform storyline.

I honestly thought that TLJ did a really good job moving forward from TFA in an interesting way, but TROS just yeeted the story off its course.

Yeah it kinda did... I think part of it is because it is kinda unclear how many years after TLJ is before TROS. Like you can barely tell time passed, but at the same time, there has obviously been a lot that had happened. I agree that TLJ did a pretty good job of following TFA, it just wasn't what JJ wanted, so he kinda just did TROS as if there was some invisible version of TLJ that he made.

Yeah, the main thing that felt jarring was the sudden return of Palpatine that gets thrust upon you in the first sentence of the opening crawl after absolutely no setup in either of the previous two films.

Exactly, yes! When I saw that, I was like, "Wait, they heard him??? WHEN?!" Luckily he was distracting enough that I got over it.

Yeah, I don't really have a problem with it other than that it wasn't built up at all. I don't need any more explanation as to why he's there because "The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural." was all the explanation needed. The only problem with it is that it's distractingly out-of-nowhere.

Yeah I get what you mean. Though I guess he was Snoke...? I mean, the movie didn't give me much time to think about it, but still

Snoke was like a clone thing that he made or something.
