Season 8 was honestly the last season I was super into Ninjago for. Season 9 was cool but both plots seemed kinda basic to me until they joined together at the end. Season 10 was intense and amazing but wasn’t long enough to get back into Ninjago for long. I tried watching the first episode of Season 11, and just can’t bother wasting the time to watch more. If the Ninja are as incompetent as they were shown in Episode 99 then I don’t need to see them fight their fourth season of Serpentine. The Ice plot does seem kind of interesting though!
In the end, I don’t blame the producers for my apathy. Every year, I grow farther and farther from being the target audience. If little kids enjoy the new season, then that’s all LEGO could ask for.
I appreciate your honest thoughts about Season 11. It certainly has been a very different style of season compared to what we've seen before.
I haven't finished the whole season yet, but I could tell that from the first episode that it was not going to be the same as what I've been used to seeing since I first saw it in 2011.
I have a feeling the main reason why is because Ninjago is more than 10 seasons old, which means new generations of kids getting into Ninjago have 10 seasons (over 100 episodes) to catch up on if they want to get the real characterization of the main characters, so I suppose that they kind of restarted the characters so that new viewers don't have to have any background knowledge of what's happened before, and any connection to the past is probably just a reclarified memory.
I think now it's just one of those things where the number dedicated fans who's been watching for years like us are dwindling, the amount of new fans have increased, and so the balance of story has changed toward the new fans who don't start with Episode 1, which is disappointing, but I'm not sure what they can do at that point if Ninjago is to try to survive for long.
All I can say is, get ready for... BINJAGO: NINJAGO NEXT GENERATIONS.
Eh, I pretty much fell out after S9. S10 was amazing, but I honestly just watched it just to watch it. One problem I have is pretty much that the characters are getting increasingly exaggerated, especially with the leave of the Hageman brothers. (There's also Jay's voice getting higher and higher, but that's probably Michael Adamthwaite's fault. )

In all honesty, I think the show should start leaning towards the next generation of ninja. It would give It a fresh start, we wouldn’t have as many characters out of character, and it would great for both older and newer fans.

OH! Yes, see, that now that'd be cool! Even if the seasons starring the next generation were as cheesy and dry as it is now, at least it'd be a fresh start, and the older fans would be able to cherish the entire story of the first generation.

Ninjago got bad in my opinion a bit after the movie. I liked how before it was still a kids show but had enough plot to be more than half hour long commercials for toys. Then they toned it down to get younger kids into it, which from a marketing standpoint makes sense, but it kinda ruined it.
I can't believe I had the same awful signature for nearly 8 years. Sorry for disappearing for 2 months, life happened for a bit.

I can kind of agree that catering only to kids will ruin something, but they don't have much choice. Ninjago has been running for more than 8 years, I think. This means that the kids who watched from the beginning are now teenagers or college students (like myself), and most of those people have probably grown out of LEGO already. The only audience left who can still have time to grow into Ninjago are kids.

yeah, people who were lets say 7-8 when the show started are now 15-16. They do need to get new kids into it, but I do think it's toned down a bit too much. I loved the Clone Wars as a kid, and that show was dark, and had a really in-depth plot. But that's just my opinion, and maybe kids these days who have grown up on youtube have a shorter attention span and want more instant gratification of less plot and more lego people punching the daylights out of each other.

Exactly. I was 13 when I started watching and now I've graduated college. Perhaps it's a bit much more toned down than it needed to be. Ah yes, I'm familiar with The Clone Wars. Very true. I grew up having chores and only watching TV when I had the time. Nowadays kids have smartphone and laptops to instantly watch YouTube whenever they like, and shorter videos and cheesier plots seem to be what's appealing to kids on YouTube at the moment, so they have to tune Ninjago into that style. Basically there's a vast difference between what is consistent with the show and what's consistent with the newest target audience.

what about season 8 tho; that was, like, the darkest season

Ah, I am in the presence of an AFOL. What's it like still being into lego?
It is toned down a bit much, and it's probably to match the audience. Every company's top priority is to make money. A good story is secondary. We have to keep in mind that ninjago, for everything it was, was also a series of half hour commercials for toys. The target audience to sell toys to has changed, and in turn the show has changed to match that.

It's interesting, but also a rough balance. I don't have as much dedication to build LEGO models as before since most of my time is on higher priorities like studying for school or saving money to buy food and pay the bills, but of course I still build when I can. I suppose being a mod in this forum has helped to keep maintain my LEGO passion. Being an adult also opens your eyes to new ideas, especially after being in school, and you start thinking about deeper ideas into why LEGO might make certain decisions I might not agree with.
I can agree on that. If Ninjago was a completely independent property away from LEGO, they would have a higher chance of the TV show lasting longer and the story being more consistent, but then everyone would wonder why there aren't any LEGO toys since the basis of Ninjago is still the LEGO minifigure.
