"All right. Keep training for now. When I get back, I think we'll see about getting you a Companion."
"That'd be great!"
As they arrive at their destination, they begin practicing the hand signals.
The better part of a week passes, much the same as the last. Rumors begin circulating around Paladeen about the impending arrival of one Prince Oruss, whom Dernis and some of the other newer Riders will be escorting from Paladeen to his destination.

Being ignorant of most of the political world, at some point during training Azril asks a mentor (or Maicyn) who this Prince Oruss is.

Knowing that Dernis has been teaching him about the history of the riders and is going to be leading this coming mission, Azril asks him about Prince Oruss one day during their class. He learns that Prince Oruss is the son of Queen Virida of the Dragon Knights and King Percy of the Lion Knights. The prince is set to inherit both kingdoms and is currently on a trip visiting their allies. Dernis and the others will join his escort for the final part of his journey.

"Wow, both kingdoms." He laughs wryly, "Sounds like a bit of a stressful job--but maybe people o'bove my class like it, I dunno."

Dernis chuckles. "Maybe they do. The Riders will be more than enough for me."

"Same--I feel I'm barely keepin' up as it is!"
"You're doing great," says Dernis, clapping him on the shoulder. "Now, let's review the hand signals I taught you yesterday . . .."
A few more days pass as the anticipation builds ever higher. And then it is upon them; today, Prince Oruss and his current escort will arrive. Azril has been given the day off from training so his tutors can help with preparations for the event. What would he like to do?

He seeks out Maicyn, in case there is something fun she would like to do.

Maicyn thinks for a minute. "We can't go too far; I need to be with my family when the prince arrives. But I do know one place we can go." She leads Azril down past the mess hall, between the hill with the monument and the large farming house, to a wide pond. A single tree sits at the water's edge, thick-trunked and elegantly gnarled, bending out towards the pond, with long, leafy branches that fan out from its crown and droop down gently.

Admiring the peaceful scenery, he asks, "Does anyone come here?"

Maicyn nods. "It's a popular spot for the Riders and the others here. Not where you come if you don't want to be found, but good for today."
