Do you have any idea how many times I had to edit this chapter because I felt like they were taking it too far? XD
Me in my head: This is a slow burn, need to keep it realistic and pure enough for the circumstances- but I SHIP IT AND WANT TO SEE SHIPY SCENES TOO, no no, slow burn better, more ship scenes when time is right.
Hugging?? Oh nonononono, child, we don't do hugging in THIS house XD
*me dancing around the ship soup* SPICE! SPICE! SPICE! SPICE!
XD
Now let's be careful so we don't put too much in-!
Zephyr glanced around her. She was laying in her wolf form by a stream in the forest where she had her other wolf dreams. She stood up and glanced in the water, revealing her green-eyed and gray furred reflection better than a real stream probably would. She recalled what Alpha; her grandfather, had said. That their ancestors could switch between human and wolf form at will. Would this have been her wolf form? Was this dream world and wolf form the fragment of what remained of the wolf bloodline? Or was it only symbolic visions granted to her for some unknown reason?
"You have questions, don't you?" A voice from behind her suddenly said. Zephyr spun around and bared her teeth, her ears were back, and she could feel the fur on her back rise a little. She was a little taken aback when she realized it was the small old wolf from one of her previous dreams. He was shaggy and had light gray fur. One of his eyes was bright blue and the other a cold teal.
"Did you just speak?" asked Zephyr, it was strange speaking in her wolf form in her dream, mostly because there wasn't usually a need to talk.
"I did. I'm surprised you heard me. I must have succeeded in trying to connect my dream and yours. Which I will admit, was difficult to do considering we haven't exactly met in person formally... In fact, I'm only guessing about who you really are." Replied the small saggy wolf.
"You are dreaming too?!" Asked Zephyr, now more shocked than anything.
"Who are you?" She asked uneasily. "I wish to ask you the same. But to answer your question. I am Gamma, the stargarzer and seer of the pack... " "Gamma! So you are from the pack!" Zephyr exclaimed. She backed away just a little and bared her teeth as she glared at him. "So you suspected. And your reaction only confirms my inkling about who you are. Let's hear your name." said Gamma as he sat down innocently. "But-, you can't speak very well in the real world, it sounds as if you have trouble breathing." "Oh, so you noticed... Here, we can be stronger and seemingly healthier than in the real world. Because this is just a dream, a vision, a fantasy, whatever you want to call it... Though, we are somewhere in a sense. The way I see it this is the ghost of what used to be the Spirit Forest, the pack's old home. I'm sure I can enlighten you about what else I've discovered about this place. However, I will require your name first." Zephyr wasn't sure what to do or think. Part of her wanted to attack the old wolf, to what end she didn't yet know. While the other part of her wanted to hear him out to see what he had to say. Reluctantly, she replied. "Zephyr, that's my name..." "Good, I suspected." said Gamma looking satisfied. "Why are you here?" she asked. Gamma's canine eyes seemed to light up with slight amusement as he said. "Perhaps a better question would be; why are YOU here?" "I don't really know." replied Zephyr honestly.
"I know the answer... I'll tell you here and now." said Gamma. "Ok..." said Zephyr. What else was there to do in this situation? "Alpha told me he told you the story of the ancestors. So as you know, the Spirit Forest was destroyed when Ninjago was split in two; during the battle between the First Spinjizu Master and the Overlord. It was after this that the First Spinjizu Master gave us another gift. The ability to have visions that warn of the future that takes place in symbolic form. And the ability to have visions that show past events as a reminder of the past. Sometimes it would be unclear if the event was past or present because of the ambiguity of a vision. "This gift was supposed to protect us from future harm. Only a few were granted with the ability. Although it wasn't uncommon that those who were close to the pack member with the gift were sometimes given visions too. As you know, it didn't save our kind from nearly being wiped out. But we have learned much from it. The gift has become less and less common, I feared that I was the last to get it. Just as Alpha's grandfather was the last to be able to turn into his wolf form... So I have always been desperately looking among the younger pack members to see if I could find another who had the gift. I have even attempted to teach a few. But it was in vain, until now, and I fear what may come of this. However, I should have seen such a thing happening. Such is the way of the balance." "I-, think I follow what you are saying." said Zephyr. "So now, I suppose my only choice is to teach you how this place works. Maybe, in return you can help me..." said Gamma starting to walk away.
"Help you? How could I ever help you with anything?" asked Zephyr following him. "Because, some secrets here require more than one wolf to find them." he said as he walked through a narrow space between some bushes. Zephyr hesitated, unsure if it was wise to trust him, but then kept following him anyway. As they continued walking the trees around them grew darker and barer looking. Zephyr stopped when she felt her paws step on something that didn't feel like the forest floor. She looked down to see her front paws in a little snow. As they continued on there was more and more snow on the ground until they came to a place where the entire part of the forest they were in was covered in it. "Look around, for anything unusual." said Gamma putting his nose in the snow as he continued on. They went down a hill into an even darker part of the Spirit Forest and Zephyr stopped in her tracks. Puddles of red liquid were everywhere. Gamma, who seemed unfazed by the sight, just walked through the puddles allowing his light gray paws to get covered in it. "Where did it come from? What does it mean?" Zephyr dared to ask. "It smells of mixed blood. That of both wolves and elemental masters. It could be a reflection of the forgotten conflict between our races. Or a warning of a future battle. Or perhaps it's symbolic of a present day reality." he replied. "How can you ever know for sure?" asked Zephyr. "I often do research. Use the best of my knowledge. Guess when I need to. But these things reveals themselves with time one why or another." replied Gamma. Zephyr glanced wearily around her and said. "I see..." "However, if we do a little digging we might be able to discover something here..." said Gamma. "How?" asked Zephyr. "I don't know yet..." he replied sniffing around some more.
"How can you possibly know if you've interpreted something right though? It seems like such an ambiguous thing." Said Zephyr lightly touching the red liquid with her paw and then shaking it off uneasily. "Surely you have figured out some of the meaning to your visions." said Gamma looking around some more. "I will be honest, they unfortunately make more sense every day." replied Zephyr. Suddenly a loud and long howl carried through the forest, followed by cries that were just as loud, but shorter and mixed together. "Finally, maybe they will reveal some answers." A pack of wolves ran through the trees and snow and over the red puddles, staining their fur carelessly as they did so. One stopped and stared tensely at Zephyr with one eye, the other eye was damaged and was surrounded by a large burn scar that covered half of his brown-furred face. He was among the largest of the wolves and stood with authority. Zephyr got chills just by looking at him. "Ah yes, the shadow of Alpha. I have seen it many times." said Gamma, the wolf with the scarred face took a few steps closer to Zephyr. Gamma added, "it is a shame that his wolf form is damaged like his human form is in reality." Suddenly the fox with the flame-colored fur came running at the rear of the pack. He looked to be in rough shape, he was injured in several spots and dirt clung to his red fur. His amber eyes shown in the dim light that hung over this snowy and eerie part of the forest.
"I have seen this fox here before." said Gamma thoughtfully. "I've seen it too." replied Zephyr. "Foxes are usually a bad omen in visions like these." said Gamma. Zephyr stepped closer to the fox and touched noses with it for a brief moment. "This one is good." said Zephyr. "By the First Spinjitzu Master, don't touch it!" said Gamma backing up as his back paws slipped a little. "Why not?" asked Zephyr, surprisingly she found the worried look on his wolf face amusing. "Quit wagging your tail, this isn't funny." said Gamma. Zephyr glanced behind her to see that her wolf form's tail was indeed wagging slightly. Gamma added, "I told you, for me foxes have always been bad omens..." The fox glanced at both of them and then walked away into the mist of the pack. As the fox passed each wolf they would either bare their teeth or bite at him. Suddenly he stepped in one of the red puddles and started to sink. The fox cried out in high pitched fox scream that echoed across the forest and seemed to shake it. Zephyr bolted into action at the sound of his panicked cry and was by the fox's side in an instant. He had already sunk more than halfway, which seemed impossible because was she sure it hadn't been that deep moments before. She did the only thing that she could think of and grabbed the fox's scruff with her canine jaw. She tried to pull him out, but the fox only sunk deeper. Zephyr glanced up in time to see Gamma watching her before she felt herself and the fox being pulled down into the puddle and plunged into darkness. Zephyr woke up. It took her a moment to remember that she was sleeping on the living room floor next to the cat Fritz and that Lisa was sleeping nearby. She was too tired to think clearly about what Gamma had told her in the dream. Once she had calmed herself she made herself comfortable again and tried to get some more sleep, this time hopefully dreamless...

Gamma! So you're the one behind the Avengers' powers!

O_O Whoa. . . That, uhh... that can't mean anything good. . .

Gamma! So you're the one behind the Avengers' powers!
I had to look that up because my family didn't think the Hulk movie was important enough to see. XD
