Jadyn could smell the smoke through his hood. The girl finally seemed to notice he was there. She starred back at him in terror. He walked closer to her, she screamed, tears were running down her face. Jadyn suddenly realized he probably looked rather intimidating, and if there was a chance she had seen one of the warriors she would never trust him. He took off his hood. The smell of the smoke become much stronger and it was a little harder to breathe. Luckily though there wasn't enough smoke to be a problem, yet... Now that he had his hood off the girl seemed less frightened and a bit calmer. He spoke. "I'm here to help you. But you have to trust me." "Are you a firefighter?" asked the girl. "No, I'm a ninja. But I'm still here to help. Now, we have to hurry." Jadyn repiled. There was a loud crack as the door snapped in half and the flames broke through. The girl said, "I'm scared of the fire!" Jadyn picked her up as he said quietly. "So am I..." Before the smoke and flames could become any worse he rushed to the window. Just as the house's foundation began to fail he jumped out the widow and into the cold open air. Again, he did spinjizu, this time to take the impact of landing on the ground. As his cyclone disappeared the young man looked on with both shock and relief. "Run!" Jadyn shouted to him as he ran in the direction of the forest with the little girl still in his arms. There was loud sounds of crashing and crackling as the home they had just been in fell as it was overtaken by the fire. As they ran through the snow and slush Jadyn could feel all the action starting the weigh on him. The girl, although she was light, was starting to feel havey, and he felt as if he was beginning to slow down. He willed himself to go further, he couldn't be slowing down, he had to go back for more survivors if there were any...

Finally, they reached the woods and he handed the girl to the young man, who he now noticed shared her hair color and facial features. "Thank you." Said the young man, than without another word or glance the two siblings rushed off into the woods. Jadyn resisted the desire to just fall into the snow and regain his strength. He put his hood back on and painstakingly rushed back to village. As he returned to the action he noticed the man who had the pitch fork laying motionless on the ground. He leaned down to check his pulse just in case, nothing... Jadyn backed away solemnly. This couldn't carry on, an idea ignited in his mind, a horrible idea. Jadyn lit a flame in his hand and studied it. He could drive off the warriors in the same way they had just drove off the villagers. The memory of Alpha being scarred that had been engraved into his mind since he was a child brought a chill of sickness and fear to him. Could he really make them suffer like he had? He didn't seem to have a choice, no one else was there to protect the people. He had to drive them off even if he hated the idea. His other hand set fire and he went to attack the nearest pack member. Suddenly a flash of light green and orange sped past him and kicked one of the warriors. He slowed down just enough that Jadyn got a somewhat clear view of him. It was Moe! The pack member Jadyn had almost attacked looked at him wide eyed and then rushed off in the direction of the swat vans. A wolf cry came from the same direction and all the wolf warriors began to draw back. All the buildings had been set on fire, and the villagers had either fled or fallan. He didn't know if they had met the same fate as the pitch fork man or not. He spotted Lisa using her ice to try and put out the fires. He looked further off to see the green jet with Sensei nearby it. Nathan and Zephyr were nowhere to be seen...

The warriors continued to retreat to the swat vans, either their mission was over or they weren't interested in messing with the elemental masters. He wouldn't be returning with them, not after what they had done... He had no idea why they had requested him to come along, he was of no help to them. It made little sense. Jadyn decided he would check around the village for more people, then he would go back into the woods. But first, he was going to leave a message while Sensei, Moe and Lisa put out the fire and chased off the remaining pack members.
Lisa was exhausted. She had spent the past hour putting out fires and there was still small embers she hadn't bothered with. Moe had done a good job running around the srounding area looking for the villagers and gathering them back to one spot. Sensei Lloyd had called Nathan and Zephyr earlier, then he had called for medical help. Helicopters from the nearest hospital had to be flown in and it had taken them a little while to arrive. Once Nathan and Zephyr had arrived they had began to help too. Nathan helped the people who were already found, while Zephyr searched the village in case anyone had been caught in the wreckage. The group of elemental masters, villagers and doctors had set up a sort of camp in the woods away from the village. The villagers didn't dare go back to their old homes. Many seemed anxious and horrified. One woman cried for her husband, while a little girl claimed she couldn't find her parents. Those who hadn't made it were lined up on the ground side by side in a nearby clearing away from the village. The surviving villagers took it upon themselves to do that. The medics noted that most of injuries were actually from the damage done by the fires, and that those who didn't make it were downed by either the warriors or the fire. That ment as far as they knew, no one had escaped when targeted by the pack members...
It was all so much to take in at once, it all almost didn't seem real anymore. How much more would the pack do? It was lucky chance that the team had caught them this time around. But what was to stop them from doing something like that again without the them knowing? With Jadyn in the hands of the pack, Zephyr's family on the run, Moe's at risk of being found, and her own and Jadyn's still in hiding along with the other ninja it didn't look good. But, they would get through it right? Ninjago had faced larger threats in the past, and the pack had no real power of their own. Lisa glanced at the total devastation around her. Yet, dispite not having powers or any world threatening weapon or monster the pack still managed to inflict damage, permanent damage, on seemingly innocent people... Lisa looked to see if there was anyone else who needed help in the little camp. Most of the people had been helped, but there were still some things that could be done. Lisa wandered over to where the medics were by the helicopters. One of the helicopters had left right away, while the other two stayed so they could have medical help for those who didn't need quite as much help. The medics who had stayed behind were doing what they could to help those who needed it the most first. One of medics was sitting in one of the helicopters finding medical equipment and handing it to the others when needed, he would also take things that were no longer needed and put them away. As Lisa neared the helicopters he said. "Oh, master of ice, can I help you with anything?" "No, actually, is there anything I can help you with?" Replied Lisa. "Well, I'm sure there's something you can do. Maybe you can help me here for starters." He said as he took a container from another medic and put it back in the helicopter. "Ok, can I have your name?" "Chris, I'm just a medical assistant in training." He replied. "I'm Lisa, a ninja and elemental master. I'm still in training too." Said Lisa. The medic in training grinned just slightly at this, which within all the grim and sadness around them, was a relief. Lisa then got to work, doing what Chris said needed to be done as they rushed to help the injured.

That's heavy... o_o
Aww, Lisa's so pure. She must get it from her daddy.

Yeah, lots of heavy stuff at this point in the story...
Zephyr wandered around the destroyed village. Only the skeletons of the houses remained, black and smoking. A chilling wind blew across the setting, Zephyr shivered, she really wasn't used to the kind of cold that srounded her. When she and Nathan had arrived the pack had already left. She didn't know what she was expecting to find when they arrived, but nothing could have prepared her the complete devastation the pack had left behind. Zephyr was glad she did not have to be near the villagers and medics. How could she possibly face them? She had not been there to stop what had happened, even though she probably could have if only she had come in time... Also, she couldn't stand being around so many suffering people who she had no idea how to help or to heal. Just being around strangers in general had always bothered her, this only made it worse. But looking through the remains of the village was exactly the task she needed, where she could be alone, and yet still feel helpful. She stepped into the remains of what might have once been a store, part of the roof and back wall were still intact, along with some large shelves. As she stepped onto the threshold of the building some burned beams fell to the ground in front of her. She stepped back out of the way, wary of the falling debris. She decided to look elsewhere for the time being. As she walked by some of the houses she decided to call out. "Is anyone there?" There was a scuffling noise over by one of the houses and shortly after the sound of debris falling. Zephyr rushed in that direction, through the slightly melted snow and into the shadow of what once was a home, but now only looked like scorched black beams. Zephyr carefully came close. Suddenly, out of one of the piles of ruins, came a small orange cat. Its fur was matted and it limped as it walked. As it came closer Zephyr determined that it must have been a kitten, not a young kitten, but an older kitten who might have been considered a teenager in cat years.
The orange cat climbed over the debris and over to Zephyr, purring. Zephyr leaned down to the cat's level and held out her hand. When she saw there was no fear in its amber eyes she reached out her hand and pet it's mated fur gently. Now that the cat was close enough she could tell it was a tom. She pet him a little longer and inspected his injury. She couldn't tell what the problem was exactly, but there was for sure something wrong with his right front paw. Suddenly the little cat turned his head toward the ruined building right next to the one he had came out of, he seemed alert like he had heard something. He walked over to the other ruins and Zephyr followed. The moon shown down on the village, casting long shadows from the ruins. The cat entered the remains of the other building disappearing into the shadows. A figure emerged from the darkness, he was clothed in black and red, a red cape draped over his left shoulder. He face was covered by a black ninja mask and he was holding the purring orange cat. He spoke in a voice that was all to familiar. "I'm sorry, about earlier..." "Jadyn..." Replied Zepyhr quietly. He set the cat on the snowy ground gently. Zephyr struggled for words as she asked. "What happened? Why did they go after the village? Why didn't you come back to us? You look free, did you- you can't be helping them, what's going on?" Jadyn was avoiding her gaze as she looked to him pleadingly for answers. She couldn't tell what his expression was underneath his hood. Finally, after what felt like forever within a moment, he spoke. "It's all very complicated... There's a prophecy." "The prophecy Alpha spoke of?" Asked Zephyr. "Yes, there's apparently a lot more to it than it seems." He replied. "Can you tell me about it? And what the pack did to you and my father?" She asked as she came closer. The little orange cat was sitting on the ground between them, looking up at them both curiously. "I suppose you have the right to know most of it." Said Jadyn removing his hood and revealing his face.

"We were shot down with darts in Hiroshi's Labyrinth and brought to the den. I, got to meet your grandfather... He broke your father's legs so he wouldn't be able to escape." He must have seen the shocked look on her face because he paused to let her take it in. Then he continued. "He was given treatment later though. Alpha wanted to end me then and there, but your father convinced him to let me live because of the prophecy." "What is the prophecy?" Asked Zephyr. "It goes something like: Gather aurora lights. Learn to survive. Wolf among strangers. Fox among wolves. That is your signs. An asteroid will come. Victory strong with it. Look to the stars so you don't miss it." He replied. "What does it all mean? What does it have to do with you?" She asked. "All of it is suppose to lead up to the pack's victory over the elemental masters and powerful people in Ninjago. However your father believes it could also be in our favor. Alpha believes that I am the fox among wolves. So he has made me fox rank, and has also given me a job of sorts..." At this he looked away from her almost bashfully and scratched the back of his head. "A job?" Asked Zephyr. Jadyn ignored the question and said. "And your grandfather thinks you may be the wolf among strangers." Zephyr replied uneasily. "There couldn't possibly be a real prophecy that mentions us both though, could there? I mean that would be pretty crazy..." "Crazier things have happened." Said Jadyn grinning slightly. Zephyr stared directly into his amber eyes as she said. "I'm just, really glad you are ok..." She decided to show what she just said not just through words though. She suddenly found herself embracing him in a heartfelt hug. At first he seemed surprised by her bold gesture, but as soon as he had gotten over the surprise Zephyr felt him returning the hug as well. In that small moment there was a spark of hope. That maybe in the future they could always be there for each other. His warm yet light embrace seemed to chase away the cold. But all to soon they separated, and the hug was over.
The little orange cat was watching the two humans as it sat there in the snow. Jadyn picked up the cat and handed him to Zephyr gently as he said. "He needs treatment on his foot." "Yeah, I know..." Said Zephyr petting the cat as it began to purr in her arms. "Anyway, your father misses you and the rest of your family a lot, you should tell your family that." He said backing away from her a little. Zephyr nodded. "I will, actually, can't you tell them too?" He replied grimly. "No. I can't." Zephyr was pretty sure she knew what he meant by this however she didn't want to believe it. "What do you mean?" She asked. "Alpha made me fox rank, in a way I'm part of the pack now. That gives me the chance to find out what their weaknesses and plans are from the inside. Also, Alpha has already made it clear that if I don't do as he pleases it won't end well for me. In fact, I might already be in trouble... I need to return to the den." He replied. "Do you really have to? Especially if you already know Alpha won't be pleased with you. There has to be another way." Said Zephyr desperately. "I think this is the best way currently. At the very least maybe I'll be able to save more lives in the future like I did tonight." Said Jadyn. "I don't think it is. You said so yourself, my grandfather wants you gone. What's to stop him from finishing you off once he thinks he doesn't need you for the prophecy anymore?" She said as she tried to keep her emotions under control. "I- , I honestly don't know. But he's let me live this long, so I have to believe there is still hope." He said avoiding her gaze again.
The cat was quiet and alert as Zephyr held him, almost as if he could tell how heavy the conversation was. "If you really must go back, can I at least come with you? I don't want Alpha or the pack to harm you." She said. "No. I don't want you to end up like your father... Alpha may seem like he's acting out of mercy, and maybe that is mercy for him, but he still won't hesitate to hurt someone if he thinks it's necessary." Said Jadyn. "I know, I don't care, I'm willing to take the risk." Said Zephyr. "Zephyr, please. Let me do this. There is something we can do if you'll just hear me out." Said Jadyn. "What?" She asked curiously. "It was your father's idea actually. We could meet up every now and then. That way you will know I'm alright and I can pass on information I gather from the pack to you, which you can share with the team." He replied. Zephyr petted the cat as she said in defeat. "I guess there's no way for me convince you otherwise, is there?" "Well if there is I'd sure like to hear it. But for now I think it's wiser if I return, alone. Meet me back here the same time tomorrow night, if I don't come, just come the next night and try again. If that keeps up for to long than you can worry." "I think I'll be concerned the first time..." Said Zephyr. Jadyn smirked affectionately as he put his hood back on. "Seriously, I will find you if you don't show up." She said. "I'm sure you will." He replied.
He was about to turn to leave when Zephyr recalled something she should probably tell him. She rushed forward and grabbed his arm. "Jadyn wait. If you are going to gather more information about the pack you might want to find out more about the aurora minerals and the asteroid. The pack has files on it even. It all must be important if it's even in the prophecy. And if the prophecy is referring to the two of us we should definitely know more." "Okey, I'll look into it." He said. She let go of him and he started to walk away slowly. "And be safe... " She said adjusting her hold on the cat. Jadyn nodded and then after a wave in her direction he ran off into the dark woods that srounded the burnt village. A cold wind made Zephyr shiver as she stared at the place he had disappeared.
