I only plugged into the Gale a few weeks ago. I'm still getting the hang of it, though I technically haven't made much progress, seeing how I can get distracted easily and spend most of my time exploring the servers instead of actually trying to get points or whatever. I consider myself a pretty chill dude most of the time -- but if you're competing against me in a game, man, prepare to eat dirt. I hate losing, and I make it my goal to never lose. . . even if I have no idea what I'm doing. Like a noob. You'd think with my love for fantasy -- as displayed by my epic avatar with the dark flowing cape, broadsword hanging from my belt, Medieval Europe-style leather armor and whatnot -- I wouldn't be hanging out in the big city part of the Gale. True, I typically go for the servers more suited to the 1400s timeline, but hey, who doesn't like a change in scenery? I like modern-style games just as much as medieval battles. I pass by a bunch of NPCs, looking up and down at the sights of the buildings and signs and the familiar video games icons, like Mario and Pikachu. There are a few users in this area, but not many, which is why I stop and idly watch a small group of users chatting. I read their usernames; MOCHIPANDA, blu-bell, waterl1ly, and DangerBuff.

It’s a blueberry kind of day. The Gale is, as usual, flooded with people, with me being one of the faceless in a crowd of many. But things like that don’t really get to you after a while. Not when you have people to meet, places to be…parties to start.
Life, after all, is full of entertainment. Regardless of being a virtual system, the Gale aims to imitate life to its extremities and beyond…and it succeeded. The entire layout of Ninjago City stands as the center of this imaginative realm: a replica of its real-world counterpart down to the tiniest pebble. IGR has done well to repress the bleak memory of reality. Now entertainment will never cease. Now life will never end.
And who am I to resist its call?
Players and NPCs alike join me on the main street of the coded city, illuminated with lines of decorative lanterns dangling above. Blue-green lights shimmer and flicker from one corner to the next, and within a blink of my eyes, they fade away to a brilliant purple then vibrant shades of red, reminiscent of the days before. Under their guidance, I leave the road and step into my destination: Yang Tavern
The fight club is jam-packed, filled with more than its typical regulars. Looks like everyone got wind of my message. Normally I would just drop into the conversations and chat away without a second thought. But today’s not that kind of day. Even the party-starter has his blue days.
The blueberry lollipop tastes sharp and tangy, yet its sugars remain strong. I bite down hard on the stick and escape into a lesser crowd before anyone else recognizes me. I want to throw up.
The bar is empty ‘cept for me, the bartender, and another player. The coast seems clear.

I glanced towards a user who had just arrived, 101DarkSandwichLord. I looked at him, unsure how to greet him. "Ah..." I moved awkwardly out of the crowd. I looked up at his face; he was a medieval knight in a fantasy RPG, barely fitting in in the big city. I couldn't help but stare for a moment.
"Hey," I finally managed. "You...you look like you're new here....DarkSandwichLord. Um...so you might want to change your avatar a bit, people might stare..."
"Oh, quit telling people to change their avatar," a player shouted irritably from somewhere in the crowd. "People can be who they want to be!"
"Right, right, but an epic knight in a future boom town?" I chuckled nervously.
DarkSandwichLord seemed to glare at me.
"Sorry, sorry," I muttered quietly."Uh...your avatar is cool anyway!"
"Don't you think you're being a bit harsh on the newcomer?" someone whispered in my ear. I glanced to my right, and there was a young girl with soft pink hair, her frail body clothed in a pink sweater and white pants. Her username was "meimeihua," and she seemed to speak in a slight Chinese accent.
"What?" I muttered.
"I get that you want people to feel welcome in the community, but telling them what to do just won't do it." The Chinese girl pouted cutely.
"Actually, I..." The knight is kinda handsome and I'm a bit distracted, is all. No way, that sounded weird. "The knight...well, in a city...this isn't Enchanted, buddy."
Blu-bell glared at me, then turned to DarkSandwichLord. "Well, I think you look really cool and I would love to have an avatar as cool as yours!" His eyes seemed to sparkle as he swooned over the knight.
DSL crossed his arms, assessing the petite player with thought.
"I'm so sorry our new friend had to ruin your first impressions," waterl1ly added with a small chuckle, indicating me. I immediately felt bad.
"I just think your avatar is a bit over-the-top," I confessed. "It's best you don't draw too much attention around here. Not that it's sketchy, but people talk, okay?"

I resist a sharp retort. I can tell this user doesn't mean any harm, and getting irritable with someone here would only put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day. So I only say. "This is a modern city, yet I'm seeing a couple of people in ninja gi." I nod to blu-bell, noting his uniform. "'Sides, I'm typically not one who likes to blend in." On a sudden thought, I add. "Unless you're telling me this because it's mandatory for some reason for our avatars to match the themes of the servers we're in."

I blushed a little. "I'm sorry. I was a bit...rude. I was distracted by your looks and I...I sort of wanted you to look normal so I would be able to focus. I guess I'm biased that way."
Blu-bell nodded. "I wanted DB to become normal size because I was distracted by how big he was and I felt I couldn't talk to him normally. Was it like that?"
"Sort of," I replied.
Meimei smiled in a satisfactory way.
"It was a bit selfish," I added, "so please forgive me. Anyways...tell me a bit about yourself."
{JAMMERS! -all writers- ONLY!} Alright. Something is holding my story posts hostage. It's not being moderated or rejected, so idk how to go from there. ._.

I cock my head and shrug. "It's fine, no harm done." Despite the fact that we can all see our usernames, a habit from the real world makes me introduce myself. "I'm 101DarkSandwichLord, but you can call me Lord Sandwich. Or Sandwich. Or whatever suits your fancy. . . Mochi-Panda."

"Alright....Sandwich." I grinned a bit. "You can call me Panda, or Emo Panda... that's what my best friend calls me." I chuckled.
"You can call me Bluebell, but since everyone knows the Ninja, I think it's alright if we go by first-name terms. I'm Jay."
"I'm Nya," Waterl1ly added.
"I'm Cole," DangerBuff, who was looking for avatar parts in his interface, said. The others began to change their appearances as well. (Let's just say they look like fantasy versions of their movie selves. )
"I would comment on that, but you're famous IRL so it's cool," I said. "So...are you guys gonna ally with us or..."
"If you want us to," Nya replied, shrugging. "I mean, you're one of the good guys, right?"
"Pretty much yeah," I replied. "My friends and I are pretty much just trying to stay safe right now, get some supplies."
"We know a guy," Cole replied, pointing to Jay, who chuckled.
"I am a guy," Jay clarified. "I've got tons of stuff in my inventory...tools, weapons, armor...mainly stuff to build with though."
"Sweet," I replied. "You're a useful asset to your team, arent'cha?"
"Don't you have a team?" he asked.
"Nah, I play it solo," I replied. "No team, no love interest, I'm independent and I'm good. Wait, are you guys all one team or..."
"There are a few more," Nya replied. "They're out training, they should be back in a few- oh, never mind!"
Three other teens joined the server; one, SJaguar, was a titanium robot with a flattop; another, ElFuego, was a good-looking Asian guy with wild hair; and the last one, EN3RG1ZE, was a guy who looked both European and Japanese, with wavy hair and bright green eyes.
"So...DangerBuff and SJaguar...? Is this a matching-name thing or...?" I chuckled. "Rocky DangerBuff and Snake Jaguar, huh?"
"Yes," SJ replied with a chuckle. "However, you can call me Zane."
"I thought we weren't supposed to state our names...?" EN3RG1ZE said, tilting his head.
"I analyze that everyone would know our names nonetheless," Zane answered. "Stating your name would do nothing to hinder your safety, Lloyd."
