"I wish the treaty to be followed. If war is the way to make that so, I will fight."
Ah, I see. *Fawn nods and then glances around* What time is it now?
Judging from the sun seen through the window, maybe an hour has passed.
While Fawn is checking the time, Alpida walks in the door. Apparently, she left while Kalena and Fawn were talking. Not talking to anyone in particular, she says, "Gidie knows where the House of Bones is. When it is time to go there, he can lead the way." She turns to Kalena. "When you return to the Forest Band, I need you to give the following message to Amion." She repeats Elowyn's prophecy.

A few more hours pass and Gidie calls them back into his study. "It is almost ready. I just need one more ingredient." He points at Alpida and Fawn, producing a thin needle. "Hold out your fingers, please." He tries to prick Alpida, but the needle only bends.
"Allow me." Alpida pulls out her scimitar and slides it along the edge of her finger. She then does the same to Fawn.
Gidie indicates two locations and tells them each to place one drop. Once they do so, he picks up a brass compass and says a few incantations. The compass begins to glow and rise into the air. This lasts a few seconds, and then it appears to be a normal compass once again, except for that it points directly at Alpida. Gidie glides over to Fawn and hands her the compass. "This will guide the way to the nearest Kriatoma. If there happen to be two equidistant or at very similar distances, it will choose whichever is the closest relation to you. You will, of course, have to get farther away from Alpida for it to work, but it should be able to help you."

*Fawn stares at the compass in awe* I...thank you. This is very helpful! *then looks sad* But I suppose that means this is goodbye?
Alpida nods. "I suppose so. I cannot go with you."
Before she says anything else, Gidie interjects. "Perhaps the three of you ought to stay here over night. The sun has already set, and I don't think you'd like to begin your journey in the dark."

*Fawn nods a bit sadly* Thank you sir, that is very generous of you. Shall I say farewell now or in the morning?

Gidie laughs awkwardly. "Perhaps I tire of sitting in my tower alone. When you are ready, I will have a servant escort you to the guest rooms."
"Let it be the morning. Tonight, I have no desire to think about it."
