Alpida shrugs. "He summoned and invincible monster once and tried to set it loose on the kingdoms. He also sank the Dragon Kingdom's entire castle into the ground with one spell. But he is a friend. He will not hurt us." They reach the top of the tower and she knocks on the door.
"Who is it?" asks a muffled voice.
"Alpida, of the Shadow Guard. I bring a friend in need of assistance."
"Alpida? Oh, yes, I remember you. The kriatoma woman. One moment. I must disable the wards."
There is a series of muted sounds, and then the door swings open. An orcish woman with a falcon on her shoulder is standing there. "He has trouble moving about these days. He's just inside, at his desk."
Alpida leads Fawn further inside, and they are met by a young man, only a few years into a second decade. His unwashed hair hangs to his shoulders and a scruffy beard covers his cheeks. He sits on top of a red carpet with gold embroidery, which floats a few feet above the ground. There is a smile on his face, but it cannot hid the deep sadness in his eyes. "Hello, Alpida." To Fawn he says, "My name is Gidie. The woman who opened the door for you is Kalena. She's a friend, a visitor from the Forest Band. Now, what is your name and what brings you here?"

I see.... *Fawn follows and stares wide eyed at the woman and bird then nods respectfully in greeting to Gidie* I am called Fawn Ondo. I was told you might be able to reunite me with my family?

Gidie rubs his chin in thought. "Reunite you with your family . . .. That would be the other Kriatoma? Yes, I think I could do that. It would require a special spell." His eyes seem to light up as he considers that. "A spell no one had ever thought of before." He tilts his head, and the carpet carries him over to a bookshelf at the back of the room. He grabs a few books, and then flies over to some cabinets on another wall, and begins rummaging through them. After searching through them for a few minutes, and selecting several odd materials and implements, he says, almost absentmindedly, "It would be best if I work in private. Come back in a few hours, and I'll have it ready."
Kalena leads Alpida and Fawn to the door. They walk down the stairs and are taken by a servant to a sitting room. As they sit, Kalena says, "Thank you for being here. That man was barely holding on to life. I think he's felt useless since he lost the use of his legs."
Alpida nods. "His soul is sad. I am sorry, but who are you? We have not met before."
"I am Kalena, formerly of the Kaspik Wardens, currently of the Forest Band. And you?"
"I am Alpida, formerly of the Kriatoma, currently Shadow Guard. This is my friend, Fawn Ondo, of the Kriatoma."

OOC: Anything you'd like to say to Kalena?
*Fawn brightens with hope then slumps when she hears him say a few hours* Thank you very much. OOC: Sure, I'll make conversation. *Fawn looks curiously at the woman* You are of the Forest Band, why did you come here then?

"Though they may be no more, my loyalty is still first to the Kaspik Wardens. Per the treaty that created our organization, the Dragon Kingdom has no right to place troops or claim territory in the Great Forest. I am here to ensure that they remove them."

I see, military reasons. Those are as good as any.

"The treaty must be upheld, and I am the only one left to do it. You are here to find a way back to your family? Well, I must do this for my family. My parents were Kaspik Wardens. Everyone I have ever known was. Now that I am the only one left, I must do as they would have done."

*she nods in respect* That is noble.
"Thank you. I hope it truly is. Others of the Forest Band fear that war may come of this if we do not handle it properly. I wonder if it is not worth a war; it has to be, or why did we have the Kaspik Wardens."

*Fawn ducks head and looks thoughtful* I wonder...who would fight on which sides. The forest band..surely they have alliances?

"When it comes down to it, I doubt anyone knows for certain. They've all been busy with external threats for so long that everyone's used to all working together."

What side will Gidie fight on then?
"After my parents and some of the other leaders of the Kaspik Wardens visited last year, Gidie read the treaties. He knows what must be done."
