IC: Those that are suspected of treasonous acts are placed in stocks, near the courtyard where the Shadow Guard trains. Soldiers guard them at all times, and anyone caught aiding any of them in any one soon joins them. Sometimes, a handful of prisoners are taken from the stocks after a few days to make room for new ones, though at other times new stocks are simply built. Some of those released return to their lives in the castle. Most simply disappear, either to the dungeons or worse. One morning, Sanfor sees his tutor among the prisoners lined up to be placed in the stocks.
Up till this point Sanfor had kept this feelings in check regarding the situation in check, but he finally allows himself to choose a side. It has gone too far. The constant state of paranoia the city is in, the glances everybody shares, people turning in other people over past grievances, Sanfor can no longer believe in a place where this behavior is rampant. He owes no great loyalty to the city, he was merely lending them his services. He starts forming a plan to get his tutor free and escape the city, he knows he has to act quickly.
Sanfor decides the first person to approach would be Alaia, who appeared to be in on whatever was going on. He approaches her at the next available opportunity that affords a little privacy.
Occupation / Rank - General of the Shadow Warriors
Appearance - Not very tall - is short and stocky; is bald but the top of his head is always completely covered by a black leather coif (or black iron helmet, when he wears one).
Special Kit/Weapons - Broadsword
Steed - Black war horse called Wulff, typically wearing leather tack (with spikes added when going into battle) and a bridle sometimes decorated with single black plume.
Other Info - Dutiful, serious Sobald is a man of few words; being a foreigner from a far-off land in the north-east, he speaks the common language of the south lands pretty brokenly, knowing the basics enough to get by, as well as give (and be given) orders.
OOC: He'd probably be from somewhere in the Wilderlands, which makes sense.
IC: Sobald is met at the gate by a tall woman with gray skin and jet black hair. She wears leather armor over black clothing and an eye patch over her left eye. On her back is an enormous scimitar. "Welcome, traveler. I am Alpida, of the Shadow Guard. What brings you to the Shadow Kingdom?"
OOC: Finally. Well, I don't have anything in particular planned until your next action. I'll post more if something comes to mind. Otherwise, it's up to you to make the next move.
OOC: You finally spurred me into action. I'm gonna have to reread through a couple pages of posts to figure out who is who and who is on whose side.
OOC: If you waited an hour, I would have summed up everything for you. Basically, the only people who Sanfor knows oppose the Black Knight are Garal and Alaia. The rest appear to support him.

He finds her after dinner, making her way back to their quarters. "Ready to talk?" she asks.

Alpida smiles. "Very good. Come with me." She leads him first to a stable, where he is asked to tie up Wulff. She then takes him to a long, sparsely decorated room where a man, his whole body including his face, covered in spiky black armor, sits. Alpida bows. "He came to the gate, my lord. He says he can fight."
The man says nothing for a while. "You say you can fight. Fight her." Alpida draws her scimitar.

Sobald bows to the Shadow Warriors' leader, before walking over to a corner to swiftly ready himself. He draws his own broadsword and waits for his opponent to make the next move.

OOC: Well, and poor Bakar. I read the entire topic cause I'm dedicated, and hadn't been paying enough attention leading up till now.

"I'm not much of a talker, but I have motivation now." He says warily.

Alpida charges in with tremendous speed, swinging her scimitar at his head.

OOC: Yes, him too. I admire your dedication, even though it stems from a prior lack thereof.

Alpida charges in with tremendous speed, swinging her scimitar at his head.
Sobald allows his opponent to come at him. Holding his broadsword firmly to block the scimitar, while stepping aside, he uses the power of Alpida's charge to help deflect her and then push her into the corner he has just moved out of.
He now has her trapped and before she can retaliate, he strikes.

Her scimitar strikes his sword with such force that it is almost knocked out of his hand. He is able to deflect it and push her away, but, jarred by the block, cannot close with her before her guard is up. Since her scimitar is longer than his broadsword, it will be difficult to get close enough to strike.

Sobald steps back, swapping the broadsword to his left hand while resting and shaking the right after the violent clash. He tries a different tactic, swiping at Alpida's scimitar hand.
