Hey Tealeaf! Nice to see you again!
I'm so glad you've enjoyed our story, even in quarantine! It's been a fantastic time, especially approaching 2 years of writing Tales of Desires with Tigress. You're very welcome and I hope the rest of the story is just as awesome as it started!
Oops. Well you very much deserve them
Wow, really?! Happy early 2 year anniversary, you guys!! I honestly can't wait to see how it goes!
Lol. That's alright. I'm glad you still enjoyed them.
"Criminal?" Joy said, anxiously. "They wouldn't see you as a criminal now, right?"
"I have no idea." Temptation said.
Just then, the door opened, and inside came a few people, Joy's mom, Joy's dad, and two people that Temptation would never thought to have seen, the king and queen.
"So this is the hero who saved the kingdom!" The King chuckled. "I'm glad to see that you've recovered. We were just coming to check on you and see how you were doing."
"Really? Me?" Temptation asked with a puzzled look on his face.
"Yes, of course!" The Queen said. "You were the hero of the kingdom today, and we decided we were going to honor you for what you've done."
Temptation felt quite excited for a little bit, but then he sighed. Years of being someone who kidnapped and poisoned people with cookies was still on his mind, and it was time he let it out, in front of the King, the Queen, Joy's parents, and Joy officially. He laid in his bed with the bandages and took a deep breath, then he began to speak.
"Your royal highness', I'm not worthy of being honored. For the longest time, I've been a part of Lord Fear's secret organization under the name of 'Temptation'. I'm the one who contributed to the chaos and disruption in this kingdom, taking prisoners, poisoning them with tempting cookies, and other schemes. I've done this longer than I have being a hero, and for that I can't accept your honor. I'm not worthy."
The King paused for a moment to gather his thoughts, then he spoke.
"Temptation, what if I told you I sometimes don't feel like I'm worthy of being the king either?" Temptation had another puzzled look on his face. The King continued. "I may be the king, but I also make mistakes and wish things could be different as well. For the longest time, I had wondered if we would ever catch Lord Fear and the organization, and we didn't have any leads. I had wondered if I had failed this kingdom. That is, until Joy's parents came to us and told us of you. You may have the past of being the enemy, but you were the only one to give us hope when we thought we lost it. That's an honor I'm happy to give to someone who's heart has changed and desired what was right."

The first thing Luke became aware of was the sound of birds singing. When he forced his heavy eyelids to open, he found himself lying in a bed in a familiar-looking room. An open window to his right let in fresh air and a ray of sunlight. It felt warm and safe. His head throbbed. He stirred, trying to remember what had happened, when his gaze fell upon what he realized to be Joy. Though sitting in a chair, her head rested on his bed, long blond hair tumbled messily around her face. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was slow; she was asleep. He lay there a while, taking it all in. When he tried to sit up, she jolted up and blinked sleepily at him. Then her eyes widened. "Luke!" "Hi," he rasped, forcing a wane smile. "What happened?" She straightened up in the chair and hastily smoothed out her hair. "You fell and hit your head. You lost some blood, and we were afraid you'd..." For the first time he noticed the bandages wrapped around his head. He reached up to touch them and winced. He also noted that someone had washed off the grit from his face and dressed him in soft pants and a linen shirt. "How long was I out?" "Since last night. It's noon." "What happened to...?" "Fear's in prison for high treason, theft and kidnapping. They also caught Greed and Envy, as well as most of the people who worked for them." Joy gave a small smile. "They can't hurt you anymore. You're safe." Safe... am I, though? "I helped them," he murmured. "Are they just waiting for me to heal so they can put me in jail, too?" "What? No!" She stared at him. "You're a hero! None of this would have been possible without you!" "But a lot of it was my fault." He wanted to change the subject. "What about you? What will your parents do now that they're free and have you back?" "Oh. Well... we're going to return to my old home. Everything will go back to normal." He felt his heart sink. "So I won't see you again." "No!" She shook her head, though sounded frantic. "No, we can think of something! You could come with us..." "I'm not sure your father would allow a criminal like me to live with you," he replied wryly.
Oi, he might have a point. Here's hoping he'll be forgiven.

Why don't we have kings like this anymore?
Probably because we don't even kings in power anymore, I think. I have no clue.
