She stood in the marketplace plaza where Merryleaf's Sandwich Festival took place and remembered the dozens of stalls and smells of sandwiches, but she only imagined the time that Luke held her in his arms when she lost her strength to a cursed chocolate chip cookie. It all felt so strange and so long ago since that event.
She returned back to the inn where an unconscious Temptation laid. Everyone else had left and so it was just the two of them. She pulled up a chair and sat right alongside the bed.
"Thank you, Luke." She says to her as she grabs his hand tightly. "Thank you for being there for me every step of the way. I wish we could be together again."
"We have space available." Someone said. Joy turned around and saw the innkeeper from before, the same woman who gave them a room the first time they entered the village many days ago.

Yeah, almost like two years ago.
Aw. Nice, Zach. :3
I'm still surprised how long we've kept this story going.

1. Oh good, thank you innkeeper person.
2. Aw...
Great part Zach!
Thanks! This one was quite a tricky part to write, so I'm glad you liked it.
The first thing Luke became aware of was the sound of birds singing. When he forced his heavy eyelids to open, he found himself lying in a bed in a familiar-looking room. An open window to his right let in fresh air and a ray of sunlight. It felt warm and safe. His head throbbed. He stirred, trying to remember what had happened, when his gaze fell upon what he realized to be Joy. Though sitting in a chair, her head rested on his bed, long blond hair tumbled messily around her face. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was slow; she was asleep. He lay there a while, taking it all in. When he tried to sit up, she jolted up and blinked sleepily at him. Then her eyes widened. "Luke!" "Hi," he rasped, forcing a wane smile. "What happened?" She straightened up in the chair and hastily smoothed out her hair. "You fell and hit your head. You lost some blood, and we were afraid you'd..." For the first time he noticed the bandages wrapped around his head. He reached up to touch them and winced. He also noted that someone had washed off the grit from his face and dressed him in soft pants and a linen shirt. "How long was I out?" "Since last night. It's noon." "What happened to...?" "Fear's in prison for high treason, theft and kidnapping. They also caught Greed and Envy, as well as most of the people who worked for them." Joy gave a small smile. "They can't hurt you anymore. You're safe." Safe... am I, though? "I helped them," he murmured. "Are they just waiting for me to heal so they can put me in jail, too?" "What? No!" She stared at him. "You're a hero! None of this would have been possible without you!" "But a lot of it was my fault." He wanted to change the subject. "What about you? What will your parents do now that they're free and have you back?" "Oh. Well... we're going to return to my old home. Everything will go back to normal." He felt his heart sink. "So I won't see you again." "No!" She shook her head, though sounded frantic. "No, we can think of something! You could come with us..." "I'm not sure your father would allow a criminal like me to live with you," he replied wryly.
