Since the end of SW Rebels season 4 the episode a world between worlds time travel along with flashbacks has now been made possible and it looks like Lucasfilm are about to put it to good use by wiping the slate clean with TLJ and maybe TFA.

In a statement today, Abrams said: “It took a lot of effort for me to reboot Star Wars with The Force Awakens.”

Abrams continued: “I gave the fans what they wanted, a narrative copy of A New Hope, but Rian was just way too bold with The Last Jedi.



“Since I’m concluding the trilogy with Episode IX, I can confirm that the events of The Last Jedi will be undone thanks to time travel now being canon in the Star Wars universe.



“Rest assured Rey’s parents will probably be Han and Leia, Snoke won’t die until after an epic lightsaber battle at the end where his true identity is revealed and Luke won’t be so sulky.”



“Fans don’t have to worry. A predictable, inoffensive ending to the saga is guaranteed thanks to sci-fi’s easiest get out – time travel.”

Also Abrams said Rey & Finn are going to be sticking together for the duration of the film unlike the Last Jedi.

Additionally fans are petitioning for Meryl Streep or maybe Sigorney Weaver who I think is a better choice to play Leia in 9 since she wont be able to return as CGI.

Time travel is a risky vhoice which I feel to many big sc-fi franchises use and stumble with though it may save the sagas continuity and quality. Although by doing this it clearly shows that Lucasfilm werent happy with Johnson at all and are openly aknowledging to big mistakes that could make the past 2 movies pointless.
