Hey guys! For my English class, I have to write a research paper about something yada yada blah blah technical details. Anyway, I decided to research the LMBs and LMBE, so I need to ask a few questions. If anyone has time to help out, I'd really appreciate it! Just answer any questions below that you're comfortable answering in as much detail as you would like to give, and it's totally fine it you don't answer all of them. Thanks!
Also, if you don't want to answer publicly, send me a PM instead. (Shamrock please don't get mad at me for this )
1: What drew you to the original LMBs and/or to LMBE?
2: Where did you spend most of your time on the original LMBs and/or on LMBE?
3: Describe your friendships and community on the original LMBs and/or on LMBE.
4: How often did you post on the original LMBs? Does that differ from how often you post on LMBE?
5: How do you think moderation affects your relationships on the LMBs/LMBE?
6: Is it different in any way to have other users moderating posts here on LMBE as opposed to the mods of the original LMBs?
7: The biggest thing I'm after is how moderation affects the LMB/LMBE community, so basically if there are any details you can give me on that, please do.

1. Sheer curiosity. I saw the button on the LEGO.com homepage. 2. In Clone Wars Roleplay or chatting with other stopmotion hobbyists in a topic I created for that purpose 3. I made a lot of friends. Some of them dropped off the face of the planet, some I just don't talk to much anymore because we don't have much in common these days, and some are still lasting and active friendships. 4. I posted on the LMBs several times per week, sometimes every day, but after it closed everyone was too busy trying to get LMBE up and running to continue roleplaying, so I stopped posting for the most part. 5. I like the moderation, but I don't think it makes a huge difference. The people who are jerks will find other ways to be jerks, so you still learn who to stay away from. 6. Well... there is a lot of debate over what the moderation rules should be, so they change once in a while. Being that LMBE is not a corporate entity with legal responsibilities, the moderation standards sometimes lean more towards personal preference or opinion. The moderation speed also varies dramatically because the mods are all volunteers with other things to do. 7. Moderation keeps the boards from being like a chatroom, which gives people a lot more time to carefully consider and craft what they are going to say.

7. Having moderation allows us to have a clean, safe community, without having to worry about anything inappropriate, and it prevents problems from getting out of hand, such as fights. I hope this helps a little.

7: The biggest thing I'm after is how moderation affects the LMB/LMBE community, so basically if there are any details you can give me on that, please do.
1. I must have found it at some point when I was browsing the Lego website. I was brought to LMBE after the close.
2. In Roleplays. First, in the Kingdoms Roleplay and some GM-Style Roleplays, like Azaz280s and my Questing Arena. Later, on the Castle Forum, in charge of the Roleplay and generally very active there. Here, I mostly do the Castle Roleplay.
3. For most of my time there, my friends were the people in Roleplays with me. We didn't really talk much outside of that. Towards the end, I went to a chatroom and was fairly active there. I made some friends that way. Here, it's back to just talking to people in Roleplays for the most part.
4. Towards the end, about 10-20 posts per day, depending on what was going on in the Castle Roleplay. Here, I post less, because it's slower, there are fewer people, and I'm in fewer places.
5. Not too much. It slows done conversation a little, but that doesn't have a huge impact. The kinds of conversations I have here are sometimes different with the conversations I have with my friends IRL, which is because of moderation, but also the nature of the site and the reasons I interact with these different groups.
6. It's a little slower, but that's just because they aren't full-time mods. I think it is a little more lenient, too, particularly with violence and the "k-word", based on a few of the things I have seen get through.
7. Moderation is necessary to keep this site the kind of kid-friendly community it aims to be. LMBE is a little more relaxed with moderation that LMB, but I think this is okay, especially since we have (I think) a lot fewer young kids here, and more teenagers. It can be inconvenient at times, and frustrating when posts get stuck, but there is a net benefit. It means that sometimes I'm not making quite so many posts as I'd like on the LMBEs on a daily basis, but this is also because users aren't as active, probably because they're older and busier than LMB users.
1. I stumbled upon it when looking through the official LEGO Website.
2. Mostly inside roleplays, such as Lego Universe, Chima and a few smaller ones in the general discussion.
3. While I have good relations with most people I meet here, those that I consider my friends are those that I often bump into and with whom I share likings and ideas.
4. Generally I post half a dozen or so messages, towards the end of the day. During weekends, I post a bit more, spread out through the afternoon.
5. Moderation doesn't affect me much. I generally visit social media once a day, so it really doesn't matter.
6. Yes. Moderation is slower now, but I think it is more gentle. I think that I prefer the state of moderation now.
7. I think that the moderation process has a good effect on the LMBs and LMBE. Sure, it takes more time, but it makes you stop and think about what you're writing. It also helps keep a few nasty things out of the boards.

1. I was looking at lego star wars sets, noticed the message boards button, and decided to see what it was. After reading 200 some pages of a topic i decided to start roleplaying there.
2. Star wars main forum
3. I made some friends while roleplaying. I've made a lot more friends on LMBE though due to posting in quite a few different topics.
4. I post quite a lot more on the LMBEs than i did on the LMBs. My post count was around 500 when the LMBs went down.
5. It doesn't really affect roleplaying or chatting in my opinion.
6. It makes it seem less official sort of. I like that a little bit better.
7. Moderation keeps it clean like with the original LMBs.

If this is still relevent, here: 1. I found the LMBs on the old site and I was drew to the discussion among fans. I found the LMBEs by other users discussing it, and was drawn to it because I WANT MAH LMBS BACK 2. LMB: At first I was normally found at Minecraft or Ninjago, but was later large in the Community Chat. LMBE: Community chat, for sure. 3. LMB: A community of nice and sometimes funny users. LMBE: A host of surely interesting users with interesting perspective and weird/amusing posts. 4. LMB: Several posts each day as I began, about twenty per day at its end. LMBE: About a hundred posts each day. 5. LMB and LMBE: Only reason I'm allowed there, so it helps, but it was slightly annoying when innocent content was rejected. 6. LMBE moderation has been a bit more reasonable and has been more fair. 7. It makes posting a bit harder because you can't respond to people as they post, and sometimes can be annoying when you get an unreasonable rejection notice (which doesn't happen often).
Thanks for all your responses, everybody! I really appreciate it, and it's all going to be very useful for my research! I can certainly still use responses if you stumble across this, but I should have what I need. You will no longer be able to PM me now, so sorry if you intended to do that.

1. Curiosity drew me to the LMB’s. I went inactive during late 2015, and was planning to resume my activity, but the LMB’s had ended. Then Google Autocorrect led me here.
2. I was in a lot of forums, mainly the LMB Stories, Community Chat, Super Heroes, Super Heroes RP, and Star Wars. Nowadays it’s basically everywhere.
3. I had none really on the old boards. Yeah, I know. Mainly just my fellow RPers. Here it’s mainly just my fellow RPers and a few users.
4. I posted a lot. I got over 2,110 posts in just over a year. Here I’m on everyday, so I post a lot.
5. I don’t feel it does. I don’t really make posts that would affect relationships, and posts that aren’t made can’t be rejected.
6. I don’t feel there is. Besides the fact that user mods post casually and the old mods rarely posted at all.
7. Sometimes rejected posts can seem unreasonable. Rules can be strict. But I understand why they, and moderation, exist.
I know I’m late, just I really like taking part in surveys.

You're sending this in for school?
Alright then. Sorry if this isn't helpful.
1 - Well, let's start, okay, so I was gonna go on the LMBs on the boring day of August 5th, after I had realized 'I haven't been on in eight months, I could make a huge comeback and receive the validation I constantly need' ( ), so I was going to go back on, when I'd realize there was no topic on the homepage of LEGO's site. So, I went to look, and it was gone! First of all, I wasn't panicked. Like, phew, all my emo poser phase has disappeared. I did look up what happened and checked the Wikia to see it had closed. I saw this site linked there, and I clicked it.
2 - Community Chat, I think. I did spend a lot of time in the Ninjago and Disney Princess forums, but I'm pretty sure I spend a lot of time on Community Chat.
3 - Friendships were good! I can't really compare them to anything, I never was allowed to have friends in real life (and all around me are familiar faces, worn out plac-) but I did think everyone was friendly and nice on the LMBs. They were helpful, too. The community was great, as well. On here, I'd say it's pretty much the same!
4 - On the LMBs, I had posted a lot, but not enough, because I ended up with 15k likes received and only 7k posts in the span of two years. Which isn't bad, but I could've done better posting. Now, I do post a bit, but I keep disappearing. Not sure if it's me slowly losing interest or just not feeling like it, I'm also a bit busy too.
5 - I think it's fine. It's a LEGO Message Board, about bricks. I can't really just talk for hours on the PG-13+ bands and videos I like. I can't start lyric chains, so that stinks. But I think it's fine, really.
6 - No, I don't think so. Sam(some numbers I can't remember, ) does a really good job, I do think it's maybe a little less strict? Not sure, haven't been here long, but I do think it's pretty much the same.
7 - I don't think it affects much. I think people want to talk about their favorite things, and stuff which may not be for younger kids, and it kind of annoys them (I got a post edited where I mentioned a song that has a word in it you wouldn't probably catch the first time and that a ton of kids listen to ), but I think it's not that bad. It's a LEGO board, not a chatroom. Makes the community safe and clean and wholesome so if your dear auntie Sharon McGee glanced over your shoulder while you were on, when she was on her way to her church party, she'd think you were talking to some wholesome friends.

I just tagged my friends on accident, but then realised all of them did this survey *facepalm*
1. The collapse of Lego Universe, and me looking for other LU fans.
2. Lego message boards stories, with my old crew, simonbasher, legocritter35, GideonF210, battletruckgalactica. I also spent an absurd amount of time on the My Lego Network forum with digglett809 and spacemanspiff101 3. My friends are now the ppl I rp with on the chima rp, and the chima fanon rp, we also right a bunch of stories and backstories. (Me especially ) which fills in that void I had from the old lmb. In the old lmb it was all about reading tonnes of stories, I archived about 400 Mb's of rp stories. Mostly complimenting each other, and stuff.
4. I posted whenever a new chapter of the story I was reading came out or to reply to the conversation I had, I had less posts on the old lmbs then I did here. Because I was very shy about entering new communities, I always thought that rps were packed and no one would notice me. Buy was I wrong.
5. The old LMB's every post took atleast 12 hours, here its way faster, when mods like Torahvision and Keiththelegokid, were around you could get apges of rp in minutes, I once got a post approved in 11 seconds.
6. Yeah, I feel I can write a lot more and be more open

I saw the last post after I did this......... 1: What drew you to the original LMBs and/or to LMBE? I was bores exploring the Lego site, knowing my brother played games on there. I found a bunch of "younger kids" games and eventually stumpled onto the message boards.
2: Where did you spend most of your time on the original LMBs and/or on LMBE? The message boards.
3: Describe your friendships and community on the original LMBs and/or on LMBE. Fun, nice, creative, funny, etc.
4: How often did you post on the original LMBs? Does that differ from how often you post on LMBE? Uh... I did it about the same on here as there, but I think this moderation system being a little slower affects that a little.
5: How do you think moderation affects your relationships on the LMBs/LMBE? 0%
6: Is it different in any way to have other users moderating posts here on LMBE as opposed to the mods of the original LMBs? Not to me. I kinda like it because you can have insta-conversations sometimes.
7: The biggest thing I'm after is how moderation affects the LMB/LMBE community, so basically if there are any details you can give me on that, please do. I don't know if this survey is still valid, but moderation can be slow at times. Rome on nightshift will help.
