Why should we do this? Well, Drake, before you get your authority shirt on and talk about the old RP, hear me out. We should ban it because it messes everything up. It creates a whole new list of characters, and cancels out old ones. For example, Thanoseid has been claimed by Mr. Venomir. But now, no one can have Thanos or Darkseid. And them combined is incredibly OP. Like most of the Amalgam characters.
Next point, canonicity. The Amalgam Universe has not been given a designation by D.C. Which means it ain’t canon there. MARVEL might’ve, but that isn’t my point. The point is it messes up the canonicity of certain characters. It raises questions about whether or not some characters are allowed. Also, in future, if it is allowed then people will want other universes as well. MARVEL 2099, MARVEL Noir, Injustice, etc.
Final point, the reboot. I asked Drake about this, and he said that the Amalgam Universe was introduced in the old RP. That has been rebooted into the new RP, Project SHaRP. So it is no longer relevant.
Please take this proposal into consideration.
Easy solutions: Make them claim both characters involved in the fusion first, or simply allow characters from both universes to exist at once. And as for the other universes, Marvel 2099 is a canon marvel line, I don’t see why we wouldn’t include it.
It means OPness of the highest order. Also, 2099 is the far future.
I'm going to have to drop my character and leave this RP due to me being very busy.
Nooo! You will be missed, DatSPOICYPorg. May your landings ever be happy, and your porginess never be eaten by Chewbacca. We will honour you by continuing this RP and remembering the name that shall surely be sung for generation to come... that is, DatSpicyPorg. Farewell, my friend, and may you achieve the rank of Master.

Regarding whether I am agreeing with you or not, well I might be, it all depends on what exactly Amalgam Universe means. (Anyone else get the reference?)

it would be a large undertaking, but perhaps we should make a tier ranking of the characters, and not allow a single user to control two characters of the highest tier?

With the combined character rosters of MARVEL and DC, that would be a nigh-impossible task. Not to mention customs.

Far more OP characters already exist in the Marvel and DC universes. Also, time travel exists too, and has been used quite a bit. There’s no downside from using basic alternate universes that I can think of.

Such as? And the Amalgam Universe isn’t a mainstream universe. Some fans don’t know it happened.

we would only have to rank the characters that have already been claimed, and then continue to do so when users claim new characters. it'd be hard, but certainly far from impossible.

Mr. Manhattan, One above All, Galactus, Jean Grey, and more that I don’t know off the top of my head.
Just because it’s obscure canon doesn’t mean it should be banned. Comboman and Squirrel Girl are both obscure, but aren’t banned, because they’re canon, along with a multitude of other stuff.

since when is squirrel girl obscure? ...or am i the only one that grew up making jokes about her superpower?

I mean, she’s not obscure because of her being a joke, but she’s not well known either.
Combo Man is actually obscure though, and is absolutely gold.
