The police car drove down the long desert road, sand for miles around. Soon it came to it's destination: Kriyptarim Prison. The police handed him off to the prison guards. The prison guards led him inside, the gates opening up for them. He never once lifted his head, but he was listening, very closely. By listening he determined what sort of gate it was, the make and model. They brought him in and signed him into the prison, or tried to anyway. " No record, no known family, no known employer. " Said the guy in charge of inmate check in and records. " And no known name, what do they call you?" He didn't answer, he wouldn't answer. " I may not know his name, but I know his face. " said one of the guards, he continued "This guy has been wanted for quite awhile now, people have cought him before too. But he always escapes. I'm honesty surprised he's here. " " Well do you know what he's called? " questioned the check in guy. " Some people have nicknamed him Retriever. " " Like a dog? " " Yeah. " The check in man chuckled. " Retriever it is than. Suits him well enough." He filled out the belittling paperwork like he was filling it out for some sort of animal being registered for a show. They than sent him to a room where he was supposed to change into bright orange. He did so quietly, though in his mind he hated to be told what to do. They than finally brought him to the big room with all the cells. He still hung his head down, not paying much attention to most of the exotic prisoners. He already knew this was where the craziest and worst criminals in Ninjago were kept.
Even though this prison had been around for many years and it had suffered damage everything in the building seemed new. Upgraded and better cells, high quality security, and everyone now wore bright orange instead of the traditional black and white stripes. And mixed in with long time prison inmates were new inmates. He knew these differences because of visiting the place as a guest long ago and when had carried out a job here. An inmate screamed seemingly nonsense words as he thew himself against his cell door. Another who looked more like a creature than a person made a noise you might expect from an animal in rage or pain. A few inmates started cursing at the prison guards, using choice words that most of Ninjago saw as the worst you could say to someone. One shouted something in an unknown language. While many others shouted many other things. Some were quite though, the smart ones. A few didn't even glance at him and the prison guards. The guards led him to one of the very few empty cells on the main floor and shoved him in. He glared at them mildly as they closed and looked the cell. " We might need some more expansion, this place is getting filled up. " said one of the guards. " Well what with having the remains of a small army or gang being thrown in here more then once a year and now the violent protesters coming in recently I'm not surprised. " replied his fellow guard. "There's a few of the remaining colonist that tried to settle on the dark island too, right?" "Yeah, that guy screaming his head off and beating his cell like mad is one of them." " Really? I didn't realize... " "Yeah the poor guy has gone in insane. Once he left the hospital his family sent him here since they didn't want to deal with him. " "I guess I can't blame them. " " Rumor has it the ninja went to go deal with whatever's happening over there. " " I heard, wouldn't it be horrible if the ninja came back as insane as that guy? " " Yeah, all of Ninjago would be in danger, and even if we cought them they'd be nearly impossible to contain. " " I know right? The elemental master downstairs in the super max is hard enough to deal with. "
" You'd think they'd need a license or something to be allowed to have all that power at their whim, and to think they can do just about anything they want with it. " " I know, scary right? Like you'd think that would be regulated or even illegal to go around and do just whatever with their hazardous elements. " "Yeah. Hey do you have any idea what this guy did?" One of them finally focused back on him, he wondered if it even crossed their minds that he was just sitting here listening to every word they said. " Oh yeah, I heard someone say he attempted to assassinate a couple of young people. " " Weird. " They then walked off. He stared after them through his dark bangs, he then cracked a small grin. This was exactly where he needed to be...
Zephyr slashed her blade across the air in front of her, careful that it only went where she she willed it and that once she had finished the motion she wasn't left exposed to the invisible enemy. She repeated this motion differently in a form like sequence. Zephyr, Jadyn, Lisa and Moe were practicing with weapons. Zephyr had chose to use a sword, it wasn't particularly long but it wasn't short either. It's slightly curved blade had a grove on each side that ran down it. Jadyn was practicing with throwing stars, he had explained in detail earlier how they could come in handy on missions and in the heat of battle. Moe and Lisa were practicing knife defense , trying to take control of each other's training knives and all the while trying to avoid taking a hit. Suddenly the sound of the door opening made everyone stop and look over at the door. Sensei walked through the door followed by Nathan. " Sensei! " They said in unison. " Hey guys. said Nathan waving. Soon everyone was talking at once, asking Sensei Lloyd questions and saying hi to Nathan. Sensei answered as many questions as he could. The ninja were alive, however they were very weak and would need time to recover at a top secret location and would be guarded and looked after by selected family and friends. The dark force on the dark island had been defeated and the balance restored. Zephyr wasn't sure why he used the word balance, it didn't seem to fit this situation.
Lisa and Jadyn asked him when they could see their parents and Lloyd told them he would try to work it out for them to do so someday. Moe then spoke up saying. " Guess what Sensei, I unlocked my element power! I can control it! Sort of. " " Did you now? " Asked Sensei grinning. " So have I. " said Lisa. " Yeah Lisa figured it how to use her's first. " Said Moe entuasticly. " That's awesome. " Said Nathan smiling. " That's good to hear, now you can protect Ninjago even better now that you two can use your elemental powers. " Said Sensei. Zephyr and Jadyn glanced at each other holding the gaze for just a moment. Long enough to figure they were thinking just about the same thing. We haven't yet... Nathan got settled into his room and afterwards Lisa, Moe, Zephyr and Jadyn showed him around and told him how things usually worked. "Thank you so much for the tour, and everything else. I promise I'll train hard. " said Nathan when they were finally finished showing and telling him everything. Jadyn grinned and said. " You don't need to tell us that, it's Sensei you need to prove yourself to. " Nathan chuckled and said. " I guess you're right. " Then Lisa said. " Well team, what you say we do some training now? We could show Nathan some basics. " " I'd love to. " said Nathan. " Yeah I'm in. " Chimed in Moe. They spent the rest of the day going over basic training with Nathan. Doing so made Zephyr realize just how much she had advanced in the past months. Things she once struggled with she was fine with now, and she was now helping Nathan go over the exact same stuff. Sensei seemed to be resting while they trained and none of them dared to bother him. They eventually made themselves dinner and after that relaxed and talked. Zephyr herself didn't do much of the talking, however she listened closely. Once they had tired out, they each went to their rooms. Zephyr wasn't sure what time she went to sleep since she lay awake for quite awhile thinking about elements and elemental masters, but at some point she did.
It was meal time in the prison, he had been here for a few days now and had by gotten used to how things worked. He hadn't spoken a word to either the guards or the other inmates. That didn't mean he wasn't watching them though... He watched the other prisoners closely, many were hostile to newcomers, it seemed the only way you could earn your way into the fold was with time. Many inmates didn't trust anyone, and often fights would start during free times just because the prisoners were bored. No two prisoners were the same either, they came from all backgrounds, even a few not native to the realm of Ninjago. It made sense that there was so much diversity, Kriyptarim was the largest and most secure prison in all of Ninjago. It was going to be a little more tricky then he had thought to find who he looking for, luckily he still had a little time to figure it out...
Sensei Lloyd had just brought the mail into his room. He set it on his desk to sort later however one perked his curiosity. It was a large yellow envelop. He opened it up and pulled out a magazine, on it was a sticky note that had written on it " are these yours?" Lloyd looked more carefully at the magazine, on the front page was a picture that must have been taken on a mobile device, in it was a crowd of people around a man on the ground with his feet incaseed in ice. Lisa was the only one you could see her fully face, Jadyn had his head turned to the side, so you could only see part of his face, and you the back off Moe's Copic's and Zephyr's heads. He turned to the article and read in his mind what it said.
An assassination attempt at this year's Autumn Festavel has a few people talking. But what's really getting everyone going is the fact this incident might reveal a secret: New elemental masters. This is big news for most. There was a sighting of at least one, and she had others with her so it's likely there's more. The police know who they are , but refuse to give up any more information. Us people have the right to know who these people are though.
. Also the question comes up: Will they be responsible? Time and time again elemental masters have been in the thick of the worst conflicts in Ninjago's history, leading many to believe it must be elemental masters themselves who are responsible for the damage. This theory is growing in popularity, especially with the younger generation. People have speculated that although it may not always be their fault, ( though often it can be, see my article on The Time Twins on page 17. ) elemental masters naturally attract powerful violence hungry beings. How is this possible? Easy, power attracts power, their very existence draws conflict to them. It's all apart of the balance. Time and time again families have been hurt because of these occurrences, people have smashed. Is that worth it so a small group of people can just play with elements? I think not. They should give up their powers and live a normal life like the rest of us. That way Ninjago won't be attacked anymore and we can live in world of peace. Hopefully these new elemental masters will realize this and come to terms with reality. Or if not maybe we should consider putting then with the so called villains they fight, just an idea. There's also the opportunity of regulating what they can and can't do and who's allowed to have an element. Lucky for us the matter will be attended to when a new emperor or emperoress of Ninjago is elected.

Lloyd gritted his teeth, angered. Who did this author think she was? Lloyd, his friends and family had risked their lives again and again to portect people like her, his own father had sacrificed himself! It's not like they could do nothing when evil struck! He had to calm down, people thought like this these days, even if it was crazy, he couldn't let the anger take over. He had it in his mind to destroy the magazine then and there, however he thought better of it, thinking it would be best to show his students. Lloyd walked out his room, his five students were training in the main room. He tossed the magazine to ground in front of them and said jokingly. " Look, it's about you. Careful, you might learn something. " Lloyd than walked to the door went outside for a walk.
" Master, check this out. " A student rank handed Alpha a magazine. He squinted at it. " Can you explain what it is? Low light and only one eye to work with. " Said Alpha matter of factly. " Sorry master. It's an article about the possibility of some new elemental masters. Did you hear about that attempted assassination? " " I did. I wonder who he is. " Said Alpha. " Maybe someone just taking matters into their own hands. " Said the student. " It's possible, but they would have to get a lot of inside information about them first. We didn't even know these elemental masters were active until just recently. " Said Alpha. The student took this in for a moment then said "So it's either someone who knows them well or us well? " " Exactly. "
Lloyd sat down to write in his juneral.
I can't believe how much has changed in these last few months. The dark force is finally defeated. The ninja are recovering well. My students have learned much. It has been two weeks since my return from the Dark Island. Nathan has proven to be an eager student, and has done quite well so far. He rises early and he trains hard, his weakness though is his lack of control and focus. He may have his heart in this, but if he can't hold out his own on the battlefield that could be a problem. Lisa and Moe have improved with gaining control over their elements, true they won't have full control until they unlock their true potential, but for the time being their progress is very much note worthy. Now Zephyr and Jadyn, they have not even tried tapping into their elements yet, and if they have it hasn't been working. Why? Fear, that's why. I knew from the beginning that Jadyn would struggle with this, but Zephyr makes me scratch my head. What would she have to fear? What would hold her back from taking control of her true power? She hasn't opened up much about her past or her family so I suspect maybe that might have something to do with it. I know their elements are just below the surface, their fear is just holding them back.
However maybe this is a blessing in disguise, this way neither is left being the only one without an element ( besides Nathan) ,and perhaps they can even help each other overcome their fears. They do need to get a move on though, anything could strike Ninjago at any given time and if something does happen my students will need to use everything they've got. So I've decided to teach them a form that my sensei tought me. It's called Dance of the Elements. And although it's not really a dance per say ( depends on who you ask), it does allow you to relax and just think like you already had control over your element. I used this form to get better control over my green ninja powers right after the run in with The Hands of Time and the Vermilion warriors, it helped a lot. If that doesn't work I don't know what will, that's the thing about elemental powers, they can't be forced into control. It needs to come naturally, and it's different for every person.

I'm just as mad as Lloyd, this Hillary Gossip (relative of Gale Gossip?) and the rest of the Ninjago sure aren't grateful for all that the Elemental Masters have done for them,
