I've decided to write a Ninjago fan fiction about my OC Zephyr, here's a quick pervew of it
Zephyr was raised in Hiroshi's Labyrinth with her siblings, cousins, uncle, aunt, parents and two of her grandparents. They were all hiding from a threat her parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle never spoke of, they would visit coastal towns nearby every once in awhile, but would try not to draw to much attention. Now when Zephyr comes of age, she is allowed to leave and go out into the world. But will fulfilling her dreams, becoming a ninja and joining a team of new friends have her going headfirst into what her family has been hiding from for the last two decades?
And now without further ado, the prologue
Gravity... always there, yet taken for granted.
When it is there, much can be accomplished.
When it is not, much can not be accomplished.
Though many may be displeased when things fall and break, and say that gravity is no fun.
What would happen if gravity wasn't there, then what?
What good is it to be a gravity master?
What is it to be a master of gravity?
Thirdy years after Ninjago's current events...
"What's the plan?" A hooded figure asked his companion. It was dark and they were the only ones walking down the street of the old village.
"First we try reasoning with them the nice way, but if they're not fully convinced that we mean business then we do it the not so nice way." Replied the other. The first one didn't like the sound of that, he knew what happened when they used "the not so nice way." They came up to a house, it was very old looking, the Windows were dark and the owners of it were asleep no doubt.
"This is the place, isn't it?" Asked the first hooded figure.
"Yes it is rookie." Replied the second. He kicked the door open, there was a table in the middle of the room and hanging over that was a light bulb with a pull string to turn it on.
" Close the door." Ordered the second one as he turned on the light. The first one closed the door, then turned around to face his companion.
"Now let's do what we came here for. " Said the second one. All of a sudden they heard the sound of footsteps at the end of the small dark hallway that was couple of yards away from the table. They both walked into the hallway. At the end of the hallway was a door and standing in front of the door about to leave was a man, a woman and two children. The second hooded figure rushed forward and tackled the man who was closest.
"Go!" The man shouted to the woman and the children, who ran out the back door.
"Should we go after them?" The first one asked.
"Of course not, we've got him, that's all we need." Replied the other. They brought the man into the main room of the house and forced him onto the table where the light shown right in his eyes. The first one held him down.
" All right." Said the second one as he pulled out a dagger.
"All we're going to do is ask you a few questions and if you corporate you can go find that pathetic family of yours and we won't have to bother you again!" The man looked confused and scared. He said,
"Wait, what could I possibly tell you that-" he stopped, as if remembering something. The man tried to put on a poker face, but was horribly bad at it.
"So you do know something.." said the second one pointing the dagger at the man. The man said nothing. Tell me this, what is the whereabouts of all those who are the descendents of the masters of gravity?" Asked the second one. The man looked nervous.
"I'll have you know that who doesn't corporate with us most often ends up not fairing so well, and I'll also have you know that we can always find that family of yours and do the same to them!"
"Why do you care? They disappeared twenty years ago." Stuttered the man.
"Yes they did, there was five, one disappeared a few years before the others did so that one is not your problem.. for now. But you were close with one of the other four, so tell me where they are!" The first hooded figure who had said nothing this whole time was starting to notice how much his companion was losing his patience. The man didn't say anything.
"Fine, if that's how you what to play this, I'll just send him," he pointed at the first hooded figure, " to go fetch one of your children, that smaller one I saw should be particularly easy to find and bring back here." The second hooded figure snarled. He switched places with the first one, and just as the first hooded figure was about to leave the room.
"Hiroshi's Labyrinth!" The man shouted, " they are in Hiroshi's Labyrinth! I don't know what part, all they said was Hiroshi's Labyrinth!" They could tell that he was telling the truth, guilt and fear were written on his face.
"Is that all you know?" Asked the second hooded figure.
"Yes! I haven't even been in communication with them since they disappeared!" The man answered.
"Can you provide proof? "Questioned the second one.
"Yes..." Replied the man, " there's a letter... It's in my room."
"Well, go get it, we'll follow you." Said the second hooded figure. In the man's room, the man went to the bed and pulled a box out from underneath it. In the box was various letters, all very old looking. He pulled out the top letter.
"Right here, it's the last letter he ever sent me..." The man said sadly. The second hooded figure snatched it out of his hand. Putting the dagger away, he began to read it in his head. The first one looked over the second one's shoulder.
"Yes, this does prove that what you say is true." The second hooded figure said after awhile. No response. He looked up and saw that the window was open and the man was gone.
"I guess we undermined him, oh well, as long as we've got the information." Said the second one as if he had expected the man to leave all along.
"But shouldn't we go after him and make sure he doesn't tell anyone? Asked the first hooded figure.
"If he does we'll know about it, I put a temporary tracking device on him." Said the second one as he picked up the box of letters and walked out of the room, but the first one still had one more question.
"Is this enough information? I mean Hiroshi's Labyrinth is a big place and even with modern technology-,"
"Now that's the bosses problem, isn't it?"Said the second hooded figure as they walked out of the house and into the night.
( much later )
The second hooded figure stood before his master.
"Master, we have the location of those who are decendedents of the masters of gravity."
Deep in the southern part of the jungle of Hiroshi's Labyrinth.
The sounds of birds of paradise filled the air. Along with the sounds of monkeys, bugs and other jungle noises. Everything was fresh and green, and the smells of the jungle was everywhere. It was humid and there was a slight mist in the air. Zephyr, a girl in her late teens, trudged through the foliage with one thing in mind: going to the waterfall. Finding it wasn't that hard, especially because you could hear it from quite a ways off. It was mostly just getting through the dence jungle that took so long.
Zephyr knew the jungle pretty well, she had been born in Hiroshi's Labyrinth, so had all her siblings and cousins. But it's not like they never left Hiroshi's Labyrinth, they'd take the boat to the nearest costel towns every once in a very little while. The boat was because Hiroshi's Labyrinth was apparently mostly surrounded by water. But once they were there no one was allowed to give out any personal information, not even about where they came from. Zephyr had asked why this is what they did meny times, but had never gotten a good awnser until she had become a teenager. Then they told her it was because some people " are out to get us ". Still even then they didn't go into much detail.
At last she heard the sound of the waterfall in the distance. After a little while longer of tugging through the foliage she reached the clearing around the river. She followed the river all the way to the cliff where the water fell off the edge. The water was so loud she could barely hear herself think, no matter, what Zephyr had in mind didn't require a lot of thinking, just accuracy, and she done it before anyway. She walked about twenty feet away from the cliff. She got into a ready position, then she ran at full speed towards the waterfall and cliff. Once she reached the edge, without hesitation ( Ok maybe just a little ) she jumped off the edge and hurled downwards. The sensation of falling was amazing! And then all to soon it was over and she splashed into the pool of water below.
Zephyr would have done it a second time, but it was getting darker and she could smell rain in the air. And she also needed to get back to the house before it got to late. So she got out of the pool of water headed towards home. She had to go through the foliage until she reached one of the of the jungle trails that had been made over the past twenty years.
Finally after awhile of walking, she saw the huge treehouse that needed four huge trees to hold it up. At first glance anyone who had not been living here their whole life would have had a hard time seeing it because it was camafoged to look like the jungle around it. Zephyr heard the sound of voices just up ahead. It turned out to be two of her brothers and one of her cousins. Her brother George was tussling with her cousin Gregory and her older brother Gavin was watching them while he made something out of an odd shaped stick.
"Hey Zephyr! We're playing spys and thieves, join my side!" Shouted George as he pushed Greg out of what must have been his base.
"No! Join my side, thieves are way cooler!" Said Greg with a smile as he playfully shoved George to the ground.
"I'd like to, but I can't because..." Zephyr held out her arms to show that they were wet.
"The waterfall again Zephyr?" Said Gavin in joking disapproval.
"Yep." Zephyr replied.
"Well I don't think you'll miss much anyway if you don't get involved, it should be dinner time not to long from now." Said Gavin as he looked back down at his stick he was working on.
"Alright then, see ya guys later." Said Zephyr as she walked towards the treehouse. She reached the treehouse and walked underneath it in-between the four trees. She walked into the wooden and bamboo elevator that hung from the treehouse and pulled a lever. The elevator she was in went up and the other elevator that had been up went down.
Once the elevator reached the top, Zephyr walked off it and looked around to see who else was inside. The treehouse was all one level, other than the lookout on the roof. All the rooms were attached to the main room of the treehouse, which was very big and held the living area, kitchen and dinning area. She could hear people in the other rooms, but the only other person in the main room of the treehouse was her Uncle Grayson who sitting at the table tinkering with something. He was an inventor of a sort, he had made the elevator, he made a water system and plumbing, he had installed electricity, had gotten a stove and even a TV to work. He looked up at her from what he was doing as she walked in his direction.
"I had better get this storm tracker working soon, your aunt keeps going on about how she's sure we're going to have a big one coming. " Said her uncle.
"Do we need to storm prep yet?" Asked Zephyr,
"No I don't think so, not yet anyway." He replied as returned to working on the storm tracker. Zephyr went to her room that she shared with her younger sister and cousin, Neither of them were in there, just one of the cats: Raven, who was laying on the rug in the middle of the room. After she changed into dry clothes, she decided to sit on her bed and read comics. She had: "Starfarer", "Starfarer: Legacy", "Starfarer: Legends",a few about cats , some about dragons, some historical ninja fiction, and bunch of other comics about various characters and things. Some her favorites were the Starfarer ones and the historical ninja fiction. She liked these because of the action and the adventure.
" Now that's what I'd like to do" she thought. Become a ninja or a starfarer. A starfarer couldn't be done so she had never taken that one seriously, but a ninja, that was possible...
After not to long she heard her aunt call for dinner. She put the comic she was reading down on her bed and walked over to the doorway. She looked back longingly at it, she'd read it before, but it was at a really good part... that would have to wait until later. Zephyr walked into the main room of the house. The majority of her cousins and siblings crowding the kitchen sink, so she went in the detection of the bathroom instead.
Gavin was just existing the as she was walking in, he grinned at her and went on his way. Other times of rhe year they wouldn't be as careful to wash their hands, but at this time of year there was a plant in bloom that believe it or not had disease that could be transmitted to humans. So they played it safe and washed their hands.
Zephyr washed her hands in the sink. She looked up at the mirror above the sink, her reflection stared back. She had blonde hair in a messy ponytail with blue dyed streaks here and there.
When Zephyr stepped out into the main room of the house she noticed that almost the whole family was there. She walked over to the pot of noodles that was on the stove, it was a big pot with a large srveing spoon in it. She served herself to some noodles, then walked over to one of the couches in the middle of the room. She sat next to her sister Zahra who was twins with George, they were both nine years old. Sitting next to Zahra was Gregory and George, Gregory was the same age as Zahra and George. On the other couch was: Her cousin Zaida who was twelve, her brother Gabe who was six, and Gavin, who was nineteen. Her aunt was just going into her cousin Grant's room to tell him to come out and eat no doubt. And her parents had just came into the house through the elevator, carrying useful herbs with them. Her uncle was still working at the table, so there was only room for her grandparents to eat at table. She only had two grandparents, her mother's parents. Her father's parents no one spoke of, so she knew next to nothing about them. It was pretty mysterious. They weren't the only missing relatives though. Her uncle Gravis, the older brother of her mother and uncle Grayson, was also missing. She did however know a few things about Gravis, he was a warrior, but not just any warrior, he had power... elemental power. He also had helped save Ninjago a couple times. But he had gone missing... because of the people that were out to get them. It was his disappearance that caused them to go into hiding, here, in Hiroshi's Labyrinth. But not for much longer, her and Gavin had talked the adults into letting them leave Hiroshi's Labyrinth when Zephyr came of age. They agreed that they could on a few conditions: If they did not say where they came from, who they were related to ( other than siblings and cousins ), or they've been doing their whole lives. They could say that they grew up away from most cvilition, and that they're family was alive and well, just isolated from most people. They're ucnle Grayson said he had a good friend who would gladly take them in, and that they could trust him and tell him everything. It was hard to believe that her birthday was only four days away, and her and Gavin leaving was only seven days away! She pondered all this as she ate her noodles. Her cousin Grant came and sat on the other couch in the spot closest to Zephyr.
"It's going to be strange without you and Gavin around here." Said Grant as he started eating his noodles, he was fourteen.
"Yeah..." Replied Zephyr, still parsley lost in thought.
"Do you know what you're going to do when you get out into the real world?" Asked Grant, he had asked this question before, but he was asking it again.
"Well I know what I want to be... "she replied,
"Not a ninja, or a starfarer, something other then that." he said smiling,
"Why can't I be a ninja or a starfarer?" She asked with a smirk on her face.
" Because a starfarer is impossible, and not a lot people get to be ninja." Said Grant,
"So maybe I can be one of the few that can." Replied Zephyr,
"But there isn't an official ninja school you can go to or anything, And besides, most of the ninja in the stories didn't even plan on being a ninja in the first place." Said Grant
"Most ninja are trained by a sensei, and what's wrong with wanting to be a ninja?" Asked Zephyr
" Nothing, you just might want a job that actually pays, like Gavin, he wants to be a graphic designer, an actual job, and he's good at it too." Replied Grant
" Well I guess on the slightest chance I don't become a ninja, then maybe I'll see when I get to the real world if there's any jobs that I MIGHT like." Said Zephyr in a defeated tone.
"Ok then." Said Grant finishing up the last of his noodles.
Zephyr did not intend on getting another job, it was ninja or nothing, unless it was really, really necessary to do otherwise.
After supper Zephyr headed to her room. Uncle Grayson was still working on the storm tracker and was the only one left at the table.
Zephyr entered her bedroom and saw one of their two cats: LittleStar , who was a small gray tabby she cat , sitting on top of the comic she had been reading before supper. "LittleStar.." Zephyr said as she picked up the cat and put her on a different part of the bed. "Meow?
"said LittleStar as if wondering why she would dare disturbed her. Zephyr sat on her bed and went back to reading her comic. LittleStar crleled up beside her and started to purr.
Zephyr heard the sound of rain starting to fall. She was nearly finished with her comic and LittleStar still lay next to her. Her sister Zahra and cousin Zaida came into the room with a board game.
"Hopefully Gabe won't bother us in here. " Said Zahra as they set up the board game. The sound of the rain grew heavier outside, and a rumble of thunder sounded. The wind was starting to blow harder too. Zephyr finished her comic and as she was putting it away, she looked up at the window on the far side of the bedroom. Pale blue light flashed outside.
" Lighting." Zephyr said half to herself and half to her sister and cousin as she slid the box she kept her comics in under the bed.
" I hope we don't have to storm prep tonight, because I'm tired. " Said Zaida as laid back onto her back on the floor.
"That's it! We're storm prepping now!" Her aunt's voice carried across the house. Zephyr looked to Zaida, a mournful look was on her face.
" Ughhh..." Was all Zaida had to say as she covered her face with her hands.
They all scrambled to grab they're most prized possessions, Zephyr grabbed a backpack and put her favorite comics, her favorite posters, her dragon stuffed animals, a hand held video game, some movies and other valuables into it. She knew these weren't exactly useful items, but it was stuff she wanted to save in case the treehouse came down. She zipped up her backpack and swung it over her shoulder.
"We better hurry." said Zephyr to the other two as she left the room, they of course had also started gathering valuables. Zephyr knew what she wanted to do next. She headed to the closet in the main room of the house, opened up the door and pulled out the two cat carriers. Behind her, relatives were gathering food and other necessities, and placing them by the elevator in case they needed to leave quickly.
" I fixed it!" Said uncle Grayson tritiumply holding up the storm tracker. " uh oh..." he said, a frown on his face.
" What is it?" Asked Zephyr's mother as she put fruit into a bag.
" The storm, it's huge! And it's almost right on top of us!" He replied,
" Then we better get to the storm shelter!" Said Zephyr's father as he carried two bags out of her parents bedroom. "Eveyone grab something, we need to get everyone one out in one trip, we don't have time to go back for anyone." her father started gathering everyone around and handing bags to those who could carry them. Zephyr went back into her bedroom, but LittleStar was gone. She set down the cat carriers and started frantically looking under the beds.
Zephyr head someone enter the room.
" Oh there the cat carriers are." Said the person.
" Huh? " said Zephyr as pulled her head out from underneath Zahra's bed, it was Zahra who had spoke and she was holding Raven.
" Is LittleStar under there? Because I've got Raven." said Zahra.
" Ok good, and no she's not under there." said Zephyr. Thunder rumbled outside. " Here." Said Zephyr grabbing one of the cat carriers and opening it up. Zahra slipped Raven inside of it and Zephyr closed the door. Raven turned around to look at them, she looked like a black fuzzball with eyes inside of the carrier.
" Can I help you look for LittleStar?" Zahra asked
" Sure." Zephyr kinda wanted to do this on her own, but she knew it would best to have help. But she also knew that someone had to be in charge of Raven. " But first, can you take Raven to Zaida and tell her to make sure she gets to the storm shelter?"
"Ok." Said Zahra as she picked up the carrier and left the room.
Now what? Zephyr thought. Perhaps she should check the other bedrooms. As she leavening the room Zahra appeared in front of and said
"where do we look first? "
"We should probably split up, she could be anywhere. " replied Zephyr
"Ok, I'll look in grandma and grandpa's room." said Zahra as she headed in that direction.
Zephyr headed in the other direction and went into their parents bedroom.
"LittleStar, LittleStar." called Zephyr as she looked under the bed and in other places the cat could be hiding. Unsuccessful, she moved onto the boys' room, as she was looking, her father came to the door.
" Zephyr what are you doing?" He asked
" I'm looking for LittleStar, and so is Zahra."
" Ok, The first group just went down the elevator, so I'll tell you when the last group is about to leave. "
" Thanks. " said Zephyr as he left and she continued searching.
Zahra was in their uncle and aunt's room, so she their grandparents room in case Zahra missed her. Still nothing. She then checked her aunt and uncle's room. No sigh of LittleStar there either. She then went back to her own bedroom. The carrier was still on the floor. Where was that cat? The rain was still as hard as ever and getting harder.
"Alright Zephyr, last group is leaving. " it was her father, Zahra at his side.
Can't I look a little longer? I'll go straight to the shelter if gets to bad." Zephyr protested.
" Ok... take this." said her father, it was the storm tracker. " Once the red is on that line , that should give you more than enough time to get to the shelter before it gets really bad, but you have to come right away, with or without LittleStar, understand? "
"Understood." replied Zephyr she knew her mother wouldn't be found of this idea, but her father was willing to trust her.
She watched as her father, Zahra, Gregory and Grant went down the elevator. She was now alone to look for LittleStar. She searched the treehouse for a little longer, still no sign of her. She looked at the storm tracker, the red seemed to be moving quicker and quicker towards the line every second. Just as the line was almost at the point her father warned her about, and just when she was about ready to call it quits. She heard a faint noise over the thunder and rain outside.
"Meow"
LittleStar darted out from underneath the couch and into Zephyr's room. She looked at the storm tracker, the red was on the line.
I can make it, I still have some time. Zephyr thought as she darted after her. It didn't take long to catch her once she had her cornered under Zaida's bed, she picked her up by the scruff and put her in the cat carrier. Almost as soon as she did so the power went out and she could hear the wind growing dangerously loud. The treehouse rocked. Lightning stuck , lighting up the room for a spilt second before it became pitch black again. Zephyr felt chills running up her body. She was to late.
Zephyr heard the sound of rain starting to fall. She was nearly finished with her comic and LittleStar still lay next to her. Her sister Zahra and cousin Zaida came into the room with a board game.

Zephyr felt like an idiot, why didn't she think to check under the couches? She could have avoided this mess. She couldn't think about that for long though. She was more worried about how LittleStar and herself would survive this. The wind was blowing so hard. The treehouse crecked and rocked some more. Zephyr began to fear the whole thing would come down upon them. We have to get out of here. She thought as she stood up holding the cat carrier close. She still had her backpack on her back. Iightning struck again, thunder closely following it. What to do? If she stayed here the treehouse could come down, but if she went outside that could be just as if not more dangerous. She walked over to where the elevator was, trying to make up her mind. It would probably be better to stay here, and if it got better outside or it looked like the place was coming down, she would leave. Zephyr sat down and held the cat carrier close. LittleStar was turning around inside of it. The whole treehouse shook, the rain was louder them ever. Minutes passed, suddenly she heard a loud cracking noise above her. A large tree limb smashed through the roof and a part of it hit her on the shoulder, Zephyr winced. It wasn't to large of a hole in the roof, but to Zephyr it looked like the whole roof was caving in! That's it! I'm leaving! She thought as she made a dash for the elevator. She pulled the lever, backpack on back, cat carrier in hand. The elevator went down, and almost as soon as it did so a gust of wind slammed into it and the pieces of the elevator went flying. All Zephyr could do was hold the cat carrier tight as she was thrown out into the storm...
Elsewhere in Hiroshi's Labyrinth.
A figure in a hood looked up at the sky through the trees, lightning flashed across it. The rain came down hard opon her face. She was here on alpha's orders to find those of the lineage of gravity. She scanned the densely foliaged terrain for her allies. They were scattered around still looking for their prey despite the terrible weather. She secretly hoped they would call it a night soon, the weather was getting worse, and she and her fellow warriors had already had enough of the jungle. The heat, the sharp plants and thorns, the bugs, especially the mosquitos! It was all so terrible, how these people could bare to live here was a mystery to her. She looked over at one of the warriors who held a higher rank then her. An emblem of a wolf paw with two stripes through it showed his rank, unlike her's which had no stripes. "How much longer do you suppose we should look for today general?" She asked in a voice that betrayed how she actually felt and sounded much stronger. His answer was cut off by a horrible sound coming from behind them, they turned see a huge dead tree falling towards them! "Out of the way!!" Screamed the general as everyone ran for cover. Just as she was running out the way, her eyes caught a figure off in the distance over closer to the tree. He was running and then slipped on the wet ground. She knew who it was too. No!! She screamed in her mind as the tree fell onto him. He let out a loud scream of pain. She was the first to rush over to him, almost slipping herself on the the very wet ground. The rain was still mercilessly coming down hard. His legs were the only part of him covered by the tree, and one of them was in hole that was under the fallen tree, so only one of his legs would suffer damage most likely, bad damage... This still made her worry, on the inside of course. A few others soon joined her, Gradually realizing what just happened. " Come on, we need to get this off of him!" She unintentionally ordered. He had trained with her. And he had also been one of the two who had helped discover that Hiroshi's Labyrinth was the location of those useless people who weren't even elemental masters. And he hadn't even ranked up yet! All this work we do to find them and this is what we get. She thought as she tried to help get the tree of by cutting at it with tools like others around her, she watched as he groaned in pain. Anger swelled up in her. Once she found those people living here, they were going to be sorry they ever even set foot in Hiroshi's Labyrinth...

The next morning near the treehouse.
Zephyr was laying in her bed, it was an average morning. Or was it? Why did she feel wet? And dirty? And sore? Memories from last night suddenly rushed into her mind, she opened her eyes and saw that she was laying in the dirt, which was actually mud. She lifted her head, she was laying on her stomach and there was evidence of the storm all around her. Zephyr flexed her hand which was full of mud. She noticed that the cat carrier with LittleStar in it was sitting on the ground in front of her, LittleStar was staring out at her with a look that seemed to say "you would not believe the night I had!" Zephyr tried to recall what happened last night. There was no way she should have survived that! She remembered being thrown out it to the storm by the wind, but the rest was a blur. "Zephyr! Zephyr!" She heard her name being called by an unidentified voice. She tried to get up, but slipped in the mud a few times before sitting and eventually standing up. She was full mud, luckily her backpack was still on her back, she just hopped the contents inside of it was ok. She picked up the cat carrier and walked in the derection of the now many voices calling her name. She kept walking through the foliage until she caught sight of the owner of the closest loudest voice. It was George. He apparently couldn't see her yet though. She wondered how close she could get to him without being spotted. She walked about half the distance twords him before he finally spotted her. "Zephyr, there you are, we thought you smashed!" " If you thought I smashed, then why were you calling me?" She asked as she made her way through the tick foliage. "In case you didn't, and why are you so dirty?" He replied " it's kinda a long story, I'll tell you later." She said as she finally reached him. They went on from there and eventually met up each family member as they continued on. Zephyr half excepted that she would be greeted like a hero upon meeting them. But instead all she got was worried and relieved adults asking her if she was hurt and if she was alright, and all that kind of fuss. She did however get a better reaction from the younger family members who where glad that she had saved LittleStar. After all that they all headed to the storm shelter, which was basically an underground bunker. It hadn't flooded because they had prepared it for extremely bad weather. There she explained everything that had taken place last night. She got a couple questions, mostly from her siblings and cousins, and she answered them as well as she could. She was brief about the part after she entered the elevator though, since she really didn't know how to explain that part yet. She did explain that the elevator had broken. "That's ok Zephyr, we have our ways of getting in the treehouse to fix it, and the other damage that has been done too." Said her father, "That's right." Said uncle Grayson, " I'm sorry I broke the elevator dad, and that I didn't come in time." Said Zephyr sincerely, "I would punish you if it had been a different situation and you were younger. But you're almost an adult and you need to learn from your own mistakes, which it looks like you have." Replied her father. "Speaking of which. " said Zephyr's mother as she handed some dry clothes to Zephyr. "You should get out of those wet and dirty clothes. And if you have any cuts use this." She also handed Zephyr a first aid kit and pointed her into the bathroom where Zephyr closed and locked the door. She changed into the dry clothes, they must have been some that was stored in the bunker for this kind of situation. There was dirt on her hair too, so she washed her hair in the sink. After putting some band ads on some cuts she had, and examining the large bruise that was on her shoulder, she went out to her siblings and cousins who were all bubbling with excitement. "Zephyr, you have to see this! Come on!" Said Gregory pulling her towards the exit. Zephyr's aunt stopped him though. "Now hang on, what if Zephyr needs some rest?" She asked her son as she blocked the doorway. " I'm fine," said Zephyr, " I'd actually like to see." "Don't go to far then. And if you don't feel well, come right back." She replied as she stepped aside. They went out into the open air, Gregory taking the lead. Other siblings and cousins fallowed. As they walked, Zephyr noticed damage from the storm that she hadn't before. Trees down, branches, places were water had damaged the the ground so that plants were stuck under mud. They walked on until they reached the waterfall. "Look! " said Gregory pointing down below the cliff. Zephyr looked to see that the whole area down there had flooded. You couldn't even tell where the pool of water had originally been. "Wow. " said Zephyr, she honestly didn't know what to think, the waterfall had been one of her favorite places, and now it wasn't the same. It was to dangerous now, no chance anyone would be fine with her playing in it before she left now. The rest of the day they helped get stuff they needed from the treehouse to the storm shelter. And in the process looked at the storm damage too. The treehouse wasn't to damaged and most of the things inside were ok, but some things would need repairs and replacing. That night Zephyr was exhausted, and greeted her bunk in the bunker gladly. Mostly everyone slept soundly that night.
* * * . . . Zephyr flexed her hand which was full of mud. She noticed that the cat carrier with LittleStar in it was sitting on the ground in front of her, LittleStar was staring out at her with a look that seemed to say--
"GET ME OUT OF THIS STUPID CAGE, WOMAN."
At least, that's what I would have said if I were Little Star. (This story is getting really good, by the way! I'm excited to read more! )
