Yep. And another is William the Conqueror, and Harold Godwinson, who fought against each other.
How come everyone here has the cool European ancestors and I've got the Irish immigrants and Choctaw grandmother?!! oh wait I do have a guy who signed the Declaration of Independence. . .
I got some Irish immigrants too. That's pretty cool.

Maybe we're related. Yeah! I asked my mom the other day which guy it was, but her response was "Ah, Lewis Carrol, or Carrolton. . . I dunno, I just know there's a 'Carrol' in the name." I guess that's better than not knowing at all.

We are. We're both descendants of Japeth, right? Lewis Carrol is a person, but he did not sign the Declaration of Independence. He was a poet.
That's cool! ( I mean not that he died of course. But it's cool that you know that. ) Wait so Charlemagne the king?
I should probably look into my heritage sometime.
It is cool. (I knew what you meant.) Yes, the great Charlemagne.
You should; it's neat!
Wow how'd you find that out?
Yeah, not sure where to start finding stuff out though. I could probably ask my mom or dad, they'd probably tell me to call my dad's cousin or something.

Oh, well, yeah, if you think about it like that. Gah, I dunno, not I'm thinking of the guy who wrote Alice in Wonderland! I'm getting all my historical figures mixed up!

Um . . . I just started looking. I tracked my ancestors by what they're names were and when and where they were born, and saw who they're parents and grandparents and great-grandparents were.
You should probably call your dad's cousin. It helps.

And maybe we're both decedents of one of his sons. Is he one of your ancestors?
