Perhaps Zane's sacrifice unleashed enough power to send the Overlord to another realm, and the villains there use him to power a portal to Ninjago. That realm is a forbidden realm that could damage the balance greatly if it interacts with the other realms. The final, ultimate battle begins.
Of course, I based this off a fan-made idea for Ninjago 2015 introducing an evil version of Ninjago.
That would be interesting. Also, I just though of something: in the evil version of Ninjago, there would be a good underworld beneath it, and all the skeletons from that realm would be good instead of evil.

Well the overlord has come back now but he's gone already. Maybe that's all we'll ever see of him now. For those of you who don't understand just go watch Ninjago Decoded.
