I have seen multiple people asking how Zane alone was able to defeat the Overlord well I think I have the answer. According to the prophecy the Overlord would be defeated by the Golden Master. In season 3 Lloyd became the Golden Master but failed to fully defeat the Overlord. However Zane was able to defeat him. How is this possible!? I (might) have the answer. That was not the Overlord. How is this possible you may ask. Well the Overlord takes Lloyd's golden powers in order to return to the physical realm. In the process he became the Golden Master. Because of this the Overlord fulfilled the prophecy by sacrificing what he one was in order to become something greater. That's why I think Zane had the ability to defeat the Golden Master not the Overlord thereby getting rid of the villain without contradicting the prophecy and making Lloyd no longer OP. But hey that's just a theory, a Ninjago theory!

I like it! Also Mat-pat's famous line is a nice touch to it! Thanks for watching!

Doubtful. I think the overlord can be subdued but never fully destroyed. Tommy Andreason and the Hageman brothers said he'll be back anyways.

No, the Overlord is 100% destroyed, never coming back, ever. If he ever came back, that would ruin Episode 34 and make the sacrifice of Zane's original body completely pointless. They better not bring him back. That would be like bringing Sauron back after Frodo destroyed the ring—it would make the whole story pointless.

Well on a side note, Lloyd's Destiny wasn't to defeat the Overlord. The Green Ninja was meant to defeat Lord Garmadon. Therefore, it makes sense that Lloyd didn't destroy the Overlord, but Zane did.

Actually, it is 100% confirmed that the Overlord is NOT gone.

But then why does episode 34 exist...? Why did Zane get his original body blown up for nothing...? That just seems like lazy writing to me. Let me guess: they'll bring him back next season, and then another ninja (probably Cole) will defeat the Overlord, and make some kind of sacrifice in the process, only for it to be in vain, because the Overlord will come back again in another season!

No! If Zane was completely gone, it would be pointless! Since he's completely fine, and the overlord was stopped temporarily, the sacrifice is worthy! Also the Titanium body was a nice addition!

It's explained that the Overlord is the ultimate source of darkness. His existence is necessary to balance out the light (golden power within the ninja, golden armor etc.) A simple explosion will not destroy him.

I hope at some point we discover a different realm the Overlord lives in but can travel out of when he gains power in Ninjago. This does seem to have been hinted at.

His original body was better. His Titanium body is cool, but it serves as a reminder that Zane sacrificed his original body. If the Overlord lived, it would be pointless.

But from a writing perspective, wouldn't that mean that the conflict of good vs. evil will go on forever, and never end? The good guys are supposed to defeat the bad guys, or else it's an eternal conflict. And it wasn't necessarily just a simple explosion. It was caused by the power of the golden weapons combined with Zane's power source/ice power.

I think that if he's alive, he should be trapped in another realm, and if the Ninja want to fight him, they have to go there. At least that would be somewhat fair.

It's not useless because the overlord was stopped from destroying ninjago, even if he's still there. Also its simple opinion that the original is better. The Titanium one had many more features that were able to assist him!
