I think the movie focuses on Lloyd more than the TV series does. Eventhough it destroys the continuaity of the TV show in a way, by the ninjas and Nya being in High School. I am pretty sure it will have the same humor as the lego movie and the Lego Batman movie. Coming to think about it since the characters are still Juniors or Seniors in High School it is short of like TMNT/Power Rangers. Well I won't see it but I know for a fact no matter what the Ninjago fans say they will see it and like it.( how Star Wars fans like me were with The Force Awakens)

I don't think the movie is canon. The story is so off. Anyway the new trailer Misako (or Coco in the movie) reveals the story of how Garmadon and her met, which is different than the show, but Wu says he was a ninja. Now I'm kinda confused about all this. Then there were other similar scenes to before.
The movie is its own cannon, as the creators stated. Basically an AU for the cinema, not tied to the actual show what so ever. (What I REALLY want is for them to mention it in the show as an actual movie and the "ninja" in Cinamajago are actually actors.)
What I really want to see is just a fantastic movie just like the other 2 movies. Plus maybe some of the original ninjago soundtrack.
I guess it's more of a comedy movie. I don't know if it is canon, but I think the whole movie was made for all audiences, including those who will be introduced to Ninjago for the very first time. That's also why they got more recognizable voice actors (such as Jackie Chan for Sensei Wu). I'm actually quite surprised how many of my friends (who don't know what Ninjago is and/or haven't played with LEGO for years) are actually interested in this movie.
I would hope it at least has a good plot. I don't really have high hopes for it being better than The LEGO Movie, The LEGO Batman Movie, or Disney movies, but I think it'll be a fun movie and I'm still going to go watch it.
Other than that, the LEGO sets for it are absolutely amazing. They look more like custom creations and less like toys.
At least you did.
I never heard of that actor, actually.
Same. I just wish they kinda kept it to the actually T.V. show.
I haven't seen them yet. Well, that's normal for me, though.
It shouldn't have kept to the TV show. It's supposed to be in the same universe as the LEGO Movie.

This movie is not canon. This movie is meant to be comedy. This movie is a complete spin-off which doesn't relate to Ninjago. With that said and no expectations set by the show, I think it sounds like a great and fun movie!

It is canon with The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie. It's part of the LEGO Cinematic Universe.
To me, it seems more like a "Comedy" movie, than like the show. The voice actors throw the thing off, too. My brother is speculating that it will be a good movie, but I not sure.
The T.V. show includes drama in it, but not on the same level if the movie does, at all.
I mean, it shows that Garmadon doesn't remember Lloyd that well. I mean, the telephone scene, for crying out loud! Where as, in the show, he didn't really want to destroy his son. (If anyone remembers...)
Oh well. That's my opinion. We're probably going to go see it anyway.
It doesn't really follow the canon at all, it's clearly trying to attract an audience that isn't super familiar with ninjago. I almost don't want to see it, but I bet it will be a good movie seeing how well the last two Lego movies were.

Then, in my opinion, they shouldn't be calling it the ninjago movie.

It's sort of like Marvel comics vs. the MCU. A different interpretation of the source material.
Seen it last week. It's not as bad as the critics or Ninjago show fans say, but still not as good as the first two Lego movies. Even if there if real things are overused a bit, the animation is really good and made everything (except the real stuff) realistic. Also held back tears in two scenes. I'll give it a score of 8/10. Sorry to trigger the Ninjago fans here by liking the movie.
